    A rather oversimplified video for something with more things to go wrong than are suggested. The two cogs are different sizes which means the chain position must be adjusted so it is the correct tension. This is a trial-and-error process because just a few mm/fractions of an inch out will cause the chain to run the inside of the housing.
    As other commenters have noted, the Phillips screw mentioned is actually an Allen type, and getting the typical Allen key/wrench through the spokes and frame is not that easy.
    The biggest surprise is that the video doesn't remind the viewer to reset the brake correctly when finished! Doing so involves not just following the earlier instructions in reverse but re-pinning the lever from a spring behind a latch on the brake.
    Five more minutes and more attention to detail would have save me and many others a wasted 20 mins extra.

      Disconnecting the coaster brake arm now requires a long 5/32nd Allen key.

      My kid kept telling me it was too hard to pedal. It took me 10 minutes to realize that the bike chain cover was rubbing against the pedals. There are two screws to adjust the position of the chain cover. Another 10 minutes to get the brake to not rub against the tire.

    This video is NO where close to how easy it looks to do this replacement. I got everything disassembled and now can't even put it all back together. I have now take it up a local bike shop and hope they can fix this. I am disappointed and frustrated with this.

    No issues here. The chain was just a touch loose when the bike arrived so I tightened it up a bit after install, and had to adjust the rear brakes just a little after I got the new wheel in there. Pretty easy, just under 20 minutes.

    No adjustment needed for the chain/cogs when I did it. The attachment of the coaster arm is now an allen key, but it is the same size as all the other ones on the bike, so not an issue.

    Is there no adjustment for how tight the chain needs to be?

    My brand new woom 2 coaster wheel won't budge when trying to remove it. Any tips on how to get it to come off? Was it overtightened at the factory? So tight it feels like the Allen keys are going to break if I try any harder.

  • @timrichards6254

    Critical omission - put the rear brake back on!
    Also, the newest woom2 needs an allen wrench, not a philips head for the inner metal piece.

    This video makes the process look SUPER quick, and it is not. I got the wheel on and the chain guard back on, but I cannot for the life of me get the break connected again. That step is completely left out of this video. Here's the one they have linked in their description for another version and this one shows the brake reinstall ua-cam.com/video/dbJekgBdn7E/v-deo.html

    The coaster brake arm is NOT attached with a phillips screw it is a hex. Hard to get a he. through there to reach it. Any ideas?

      I just unscrewed the other bolt using a pair of pliers and a hex wrench to hold it in place.

    • @eddyb9642
      @eddyb9642 2 роки тому +2

      thanks to Clint's reply, we followed this same approach to remove the original rear wheel... can't tell you how frustrating this part was - especially since it should have been easy and this video was uploaded so recently
      we also had hex bolts on the coaster brake arm not phillips screw and none of our hex wrenches worked - assume that the hex bolt on Woom requires metric wrench versions given Woom is originally a European company and we have the inch SAE version (but thanks to Clint I didn't have to run to Home Depot to buy a metric size set of hex wrenches to validate)
      One LAST hint to ALL: last frustrating thing is after you replace the rear brake, we realized how closely the brakes were originally placed to the wheel (we should have checked this before removing the coaster brake wheel but we could see this when looking at the front wheel and the front brake pads) and our freewheel that had been put in place was rubbing against the brakes...
      we finally found that if we loosened one side of the hex bolt on the rear freewheel ever so slightly, that was enough to give just enough space between the wheel and the rear brake pads so that the wheel could spin freely... so it appears the spacing between the wheel and brake pads is very sensitive to how equally you tighten the bolts on either side of the rear wheel... play around with this if you have the same problem we did

    Also the chain rubs up against the white chain guard makes a distracting noise. Is it supposed to do that?

    • @clarissayu
      @clarissayu 2 роки тому

      @Kate Weisenborn Is it a systematic clicking noise as the wheel is spinning? If so, I believe that may be a normal sound from the hub of the freewheel.

    • @eddyb9642
      @eddyb9642 2 роки тому +1

      I'm sure by now you already know the answer - but for all the future folks who come and could benefit... we also experienced this too. After putting the freewheel in place and testing the pedals and wheel, the chain rubs the white guard. Once you put the two black chain guard pieces on top of the white one, the noise and rubbing will go away

      To answer the question for anyone else asking. Simply back out the 4 bolts on the dropout about 1 turn, then turn each of the chain tension set screws in about 1/2 turn. Tighten the dropout bolts and check for chain rub. Repeat until the chain stops rubbing.

      As bizango99 said, the coaster brake arm cannot be detached by a phillips screw driver. I am surprised that this video was uploaded recently but already has discrepancy from the actual spec.

    This video does not represent reality the wheel nuts are on so tight that even a drill can’t loosen them let alone be turned with finger tips as this video suggests
