    I have watched your complete set of videos and can only say thank you for time you have taken, the professional way you have gone about them and the clear, calm and understandable manner they are presented. I am in the "older" age bracket and have flown FS for 2 decades. My favourite aircraft was always the Q400 by Majestic so when this aircraft came out I tried it immediately. Initial thoughts were "what have I done"?? Clearly more complex than the Q400 in many way I have realised that once getting used to those complexities will doubtless give me hours of pleasure. This sir I is down to your guidance and hard work. So a million thanks for teaching this old dog new tricks!!

    Great tutorial mate, thank you very much.
    Flight plan wise, it seems that you do not need to type in the waypoints/airways at all. You just click on the empty field (airway or waypoint), and you see a list of all the points connected to the last one entered (SID STAR) and select that.

    • @BritishAvgeek

    Thanks for the video. Hoping to get her in the air this weekend, been watching videos and playing with it on the ground. I think the airway inserting pages of waypoints is a bug, but inserting them before adding a STAR or approach at the destination seemed to prevent it. Part of that is apparently not manually typing the exit point but instead just clicking the LSK next to the orange boxes and then selecting from in that list. Also I noticed you didn't cover that the MSFS fuel/payload manager must be used. One other thing I learned is you can long press on the LSK's in the weight page and it will fill in the values from the MSFS load manager for you instead of having to type them.

    11:57 I keep seeing conflicting advice on this, but from what I can tell you still have to enter the weight and fuel via the sim's own panel rather than enter anything in the MCDU. You approximate on the sim panel, then long-press each button next to ZFW and fuel to transfer what's in the sim into the MCDU.

    • @Spiretail
      @Spiretail 9 місяців тому +1

      @@jay-rus4437 I have no specific knowledge on this subject but I would guess that it is to prevent damage to the aircraft when it is parked on the ground in windy conditions. If the gust lock wasn't on the flight controls could be blown around by the wind and possibly cause damage if the wind is severe enough. The gust lock stops the flight controls from moving around, so wind won't be able to move and damage them.
      It also prevents too much power being applied in hotel mode and when both engines are started, so pilots do not accidentally take off with it enabled, only to come to the conclusion they cannot move their flight controls.
      From what I can find out gust locks are mostly used when a flight control system is either fully mechanical, or partly mechanical because then there are physical parts which can actually get damaged by the wind, however if a flight control system is powered, say electrically or hydraulically, there are not many vital mechanical linkages that could be damaged by wind. That's my guess anyways.

    Still find the fuel loading not working. In your video you loaded 1810kg of fuel but the display on the far left indicated 1260kg in each tank. I think the only way to change the actual fuel in the tank is in the MSFS fuel and weight page. When you input the fuel in setup it does not change the actual fuel level.

      it seems that is the case - I had one instance where it seemed to work fine, now it needs to be loaded via the sim fuel/weight tab. I've asked the developer for clarity and to see if it can be sorted so just inputting it directly into the MCDU and he said it will be sorted **very soon** to allow direct editing of the fuel/weight exactly as shown in this video

      I had the same problem. I found that you have to turn on the BLUE/AUX/GREEN HYD PUMPS during the startup in his video after engaging EMER EXT LT & NO DEVICE. Now your Green ready light on the Prop Brake should be illuminated. He engages the HYD later in the video but this must have changed after an update.

    Why doesn't this thing have the in sim flight plan working in there?
    It's labelled as a Microsoft product yet doesn't even work with their own game.

      @@neth77 tbh if you plan it in simbrief then to type in the waypoints manually literally takes 5 minutes so I personally like having to do it - we all rely on simbrief integration too much and these aircraft typically operate much shorter routes than the turbofan airliners

    Kindly advice to you.... and every other UA-camr.
    Use bright weather.... angle the aircraft so the cockpit is illuminated.
    Or... use the flood/storm lights.

    How do you know the weights that Simbrief gives you are the weights that are actually reflected with your plane in the sim? Doesn't simbrief just randomly generate weight amounts? It's not synced with the sim or anything so how would these be accurate.

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  Рік тому

      Because you set them in the sim using the weight menu to make it match

    Where does the ATR take its livery markings from? I'm trying to get a Loganair livery to work. I have installed it in the following location C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
    This is where all my FBW A320 liveries are located, which work ok with the A320.
    However the ATR doesn't pick up its liveries from here or the Lognair livery I have doesn't work - as another possibility.

      @@BritishAvgeek I figured it out. It had to do something with me taking too long between switching on the Master battery and attempting an Eng 2 startup. Maybe some system is getting exhausted/depleted somewhere? Now I just skip the FMS/Nav setup for later and go straight through to getting Hotel mode going before anything else and it works fine. Odd though because in one of my setups I worked at the same cadence as you watching along with the video and my engine didn't start up while yours still did..perhaps a different version/build of the aircraft
