We skipped school & went to hear them at the fair & met them after the show. Just hung out there talking & laughing about our lives in the Country, as we were from rural Ohio & them from Nebraska. They came to Lima, Ohio to sing a year later and my sister Judy and I went to listen to them. I think Tompall was about 23 yrs old then. Kept in contact with Chuck off & on thru the yrs & even looked him up in Nashville at his studio & introduced him to my husband about 10 yrs ago. I wish them nothing but the best.
Marty Robbins recognized their talent and took advantage of their genius early on. Jim was such a great harmonizer. . .no wonder Marty had him doing the high harmony on El Paso.
Mr. Ziggy... thanks for that info. I didn't know Jim had sung El Paso high harmony for Marty Robbins. He has a fantastic voice. His harmony in this song is wonderful. It's criminal how severely underrated the Glaser brothers are.
I certainly agree with you Dale , anyone who can carry a tune can sing the lead but not many can sing the tenor like Jim Glaser can! They all have fantastic voices ,but Jim's is the best!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing Tompall when he came over to the UK a few years ago and from first hearing him on a Vinyl album when I was in Hong Kong he along with his brothers didn't get the recognition they deserved. I had a chat with Tompall and he was a pleasant man to talk to. There was a lot of talent in the group which I heard when I purchased Marty Robbins Gunfighter Ballads and Trail songs. Always among my favourite singers. I'm so pleased that I can hear and see them on UA-cam.
I wore out two cassette tapes and put a lot of wear on a third listening to their "Lovin Her Was Easier" album, mostly by rewinding this song over and over! I have loved the Glasers since I was eight years old--over fifty years!! Lovin them couldn't have been easier.
i encourage all the real fans of the glasers to send an email to the acadamy of country music asking for their induction into the hall of fame i have done this several times,i think it is time for these guys to get the respect they deserve and do it while at least 1 of them is alive to see it happen!!!! r.i.p.tompall and know that i am fighting for your right to have your place in country music history i will never forget how our music has affected my life!!!
Bravo Brian! I have been writing letters and emailing everyone I can think of about this. The fact that they are not already in the hall is disgusting and every real country music fan should be outraged. Tompall, Chuck and Jim have more than earned their place with their body of work. In all fairness Tompall should have gone in in 2013 with Cowboy Jack and Bare. Tompall was the best country ballad singer I have ever heard and the brothers together were pure magic. I hope a lot of folks follow our lead and get Nashville's attention. They need to do the right thing. It's time.
