Disregard everyone and listen to Dan. Top notch lingcod knowledge with him. I met him a couple years ago out front of his house and he hooked me up with some shiners. The rest is history. Just remember this- keep some things secret on here. Otherwise, just like everything else, it’ll be gone for all of us. Aka rock fishing in our entire area. Great vid!
@@BBBB47884 yea. He’s a pro. I can see in his videos. I need to learn my self haha never caught shiners before. So I gotta find a place to jig for them
Nice I grew up in Victoria BC , we could catch Lings from the shore in different areas of Metro Victoria, also many species of Other Rock Fish and Salmon , even from very close to downtown, also the docks in the area we caught shrimp and Crabs m Enjoy the fishing ,
Whole fresh herring or sardines work the best for me with lings or bottom fish.😅 I used to cut copper half in stainless or copper tubing and drill two holes in them one at the top end and one at the bottom I attached large treble hooks with cotter keys thru the holes and then poured lead in the center of the tubing. The noise and action of the tube hitting the rocks made the lings aggressive and they would attack the tubes.
The limit is 2 fish, when I was a young man the limit was 5 then it went to 2. Now 2, the fish and wildlife closed all water 70 foot and deeper for 20 years, now it's 300 feet or deeper and we are getting some giant's, they just changed that last year, yeah that 300 feet and deeper is all new waters for us, it's fantastic, tight lines, stay safe my friend.
We need these regulations to save our sport fishing fisheries. Our salmon season is closed this year, it's frustrating, but we need it to save the species.
You Did good you guys did you need one more? In my little skiff me and friends now got 6 in 4 days out on possession bar limits every time it's been great so far. I think I saw you and heard you guys out there too, so much fun those lingcod. I go simple gear 3oz. spinning lead 40lb. leader one 2/0 hook and live bait that's it. Well done video thanks for sharing.🎣
Yea we got 2 out of 3. Haha heard us. Wow. We must’ve been super loud, too excited to finally land some fish. My buddies never caught some before. So they were really pumped as well. Wow that’s awesome you guys did so good. You’re pros. I gotta learn from you. I’m new to salt water.
@@PavlusAdventures You guys were just having lots of fun! now you got to get your buddy that didn't get one on one. using sole they tend to get unhooked easier then smaller baits, smaller bait they inhale and just one hook so it doesn't wait your bait down they look more natural swimming. get bait live herring at possession bait when they got herring or jig shiner with a bait jig. Good luck out there🎣
@@dansSawfish5604 that’s true the presentation matters. We lost a couple fish because they didn’t hook good with the flounder. I’ll try with smaller fish. Where do you thread your hook in bait fish ? Near the dorsal fin? Or in the top of the lip. Yea we need to get him on a fish. Where would you recommend trying for jigging for herring. Like Accross from that bait store? And what jigs do you use. At what depth.
What’s your best lures for lingcod ?
Live herring or shiner perch with one single 2/0 hook that's my favorite! never used a lure.🎣
@@dansSawfish5604oh wow. That’s interesting. Everyone seems to use flounders. How do you catch those bait fish?

@@PavlusAdventures I got that for you. Not sure how to say it here but you’re less than 5 min away while at bar. I have setup too.
That’s so awesome. Great day you guys had! Wow, that’s a big ling for the puget sound!
Yea. Finally we got on the fish. The tides are fast right now. Yea that was a monster fish

Oh wow that’s awesome. Sounds like fun and from shore it’s fun in its own way.
That was a beauty, nicely done!
Thank you very much
Great day out there with ya man! Huge shoutout to your channel for making it happen!
Hey Thanks for reaching out, and taking your boat. It was an epic day.
Looks like you guys hit a good reef !! Keep on slaying that fish !!
Thanks man. Yea gotta come back to that spot and try again
Big dragons always get the wooos going! 🤘🏻
Yea especially when you catch one that’s the biggest size you can keep

Where do you get fresh live bait?
Wow that sounds awesome, I’ve seen videos of people using copper tubes. Never tried it. Sounds really cool
Awesome catch Bro! Keep it up,!
Thanks man that was tough catch.
FYI three hooks max are allowed. Treble counts as three unless you snip one off.
Wrong
the ling in Washington are a slot fish, in California the minimum is 22" no maximum size.
Wow that’s awesome. Limit 1 per person?
Here it’s 26”-36”

Sorry, that was from 5 fish to 3 and now 2.
With all the species of rock fish, the total limit for rock fish is 15.

Pretty sure that's my old boat. Looks like yall are having better luck in it than me
No way, really? Haha that’s crazy if it is. Shane is looking for a bigger boat. So I might be eyeing it now 😁
I rejoice with you.
You had a great time!!!
