    At the beginning when the clutch exploded it seemed to be slipping a lot.. Was it worn and headed to the shop for another one? Nice job finding all the pieces and putting them in place. At 1:40 I like the fuel pump access hole you cut out. I did the same for mine. I can only get about 5 years out of my pumps. Your connections are a lot easier to access than on my 95 though.

    What brand MAF and size are you using with the volant system? If its a 100mmm did you have to do anything special to make it fit the volant...by the way awesome car..glad you got the block saved

  • @mikesanto70

    I almost puked when I saw that LS7 block cracked, good save, why you running L92's and L76 intake? the LS7 heads and intake flow better or did you just score the ls7 as a short block and go from there?

  • @KyleP133
    @KyleP133 12 років тому

    So did you have your foot on the clutch when it blew up? Or did you dump the clutch and it began slipping? If it's a technique thing I'd like to be sure to avoid it. I see this happen to all kinds of cars, but never figured out whether it was just people leaving their foot on the clutch or the clutch failing to grab properly.

    Just, really: Sorry about your clutch: The idiot driving it at that moment (were you the idiot?) is lucky to be intact. The Death Video was the best use of that UA-cam-approved song ever. And glad to see the engine living again. Thanks for documenting the journey.

  • @stlchucko
    @stlchucko 13 років тому

    I saw that you pulled the motor out of the red one through the top. I assume that you put it in the same way. How much more difficult is it to go that route instead of dropping the subframe. I have a 96 Z28 and need to pull the motor. I've yanked plenty of motors from other cars, but I've been hesitant pulling this 1 since it's so far under the cowl. I know I can get it out, but back in is another story.

    out of all the other hard work, great job, at 1:39 short cut to fuel pump, man gas tank is a pain to get out in a 3rd gen, I imagine the same in a 4th, but man, did you cut the carpet in half too, or is it split like that in 4th gen? hey still great job on both cars!

    SummitRacing Part Number: RCI-7808A $89.95 no need to remove anything.
    Came up nothing on a LS block plate, i'm sure they are around, even so the blanket might have saved the engine.

    was there any way of preventing the clutch failure. was it human error or misuse/abuse that caused it to fail or was it an unforeseen failure? Just never saw one explode and take so much out with it. that shit is gnarly. nice work in the red one tho. hope this one doesn't suffer the same fate as its predecessor.

    I just watched the death video. Great job on the welds! I honestly didn't think that would turn out. I should have gotten a video of when I blew my L98 up in my 91 corvette. Turned out all right though. The perfect timing let to a ZZ4 block with forged internals for 2 grand. Next step? Port the TPI

    @motostud08 I also noticed that, the black Trans am had like 525hp and right at 500 Foot pounds of torque, it could be as simple as a bigger tire on the Red one draging it down a little or maybe since what happened last time he could've went with a bigger heavy duty clutch and that could even drag it down.

    Max, life could be very bad for both of us brother All, this kid is as lucky he didn't lose a leg as I am. In the freeze frame on the other vid, the piece of clutch glowing orange hit the corner of the building, cut through 1/4" steel reinforcing the garage opening, then bounced into his shin. He was standing a few feet from its direct path. Thank you God.

  • @rallynova78
    @rallynova78 14 років тому

    You can get close to that with a NA ls1 but its not cheap in the least.
    I should be around 430 with full bolt ons, exhaust, dart heads, cam and intake/tb upgrade.
    I got 13.3 at 106 out of it with induction bolt ons. Its possible to get close to that but any route for true power is not cheap. There's a point the cubic inches on the ls1 start to hold it back as well.
    Is still a bad ass engine there, would be nice to have money to do something like that.
