He also plays it for the Last Shadow Puppets, if I'm not mistaken. Either he's a very quick learner (which he seems to be) or he was being incredibly modest here (Which also fits the character)
As a fan of AM since their inception, these videos will never get old to me. Thank you for consistently breaking down what goes into their incredible craftsmanship of songs. I always deeply appreciate your insight and enlightenment! I find something new to love about their songs every time I watch one of your videos about them as well, and that's just priceless. Thanks again! ☺
I just saw this recommended and I got so excited. Wanting to make music like Arctic Monkeys and The Neighborhood is something I’ve been excavating so much for but yk there isn’t really much out there on their process/ tutorials 😭❤️
For me, Do I Wanna Know is the perfect song. The beat, the melody, the riff, the backing vocals, the lyrics, the climax, it being about love. Just perfect. I will be forever grateful that I got to attend their 2023 Berlin performance which they closed with 'Do I Wanna Know'.
this song hit different when it first came out, totally different from previous albums that they've done before. that catchy riff guitar just got me stuck and probably in contrary many fans hated the song because not fast and more rock like any other songs before AM. but yeah they evolve and that's why Arctic Monkeys is one of my favorite band ever.
the song is huge no doubt but this video is too, I'm really impressed how you achieve such an impeccable edition and at the same time catches the viewer from the first moment, you just showed me fragments of interviews that were made to the guys that even I who am a big fan hadn't seen and these help me to have a much more complete perception of the song and in general of the great work behind this album, I wish you could do a deconstruction like this of every Arctic Monkeys song, but I understand it would take a long time, so I'd just like to thank you for putting so much effort into every video you do, you deserve so much more recognition because it really is amazing the work and research behind these videos, keep it up man!
i discovered that song in the game The Crew 1 (that just closed yesterday, 31 march) and it just hits so right while you race around the US with a V8 muscle car, just great memories
Thank you! Was trying to explain to someone how “the vocal in the verse flits around and above the music.” This video said what I couldn’t quite express. ❤
The song pretentious people like to hate, but there is beauty in how simple it is. And it how many fans were first introduced to this band, including me.
Arctic Monkeys is my favorite band. I saw them in September and it was like a spiritual experience for me. I love how they’re a band where everyone is doing their part, all of the members are equal. The percussion is so important, the bass lines anchor the songs, the guitar brings people in, the vocals/lyrics keep people coming back. They are amazing ❤
It's the combination of all the various mismatched elements into something great. It doesn't follow a standard formula but the end result is fantastic, like sweet, spicy, and savory all together in one delicious dish.
Thank you for this video, I am not a musician, but can clearly discern that they are doing something unique. I have been wondering if he writes the lyrics first and they add the music or if they build the song up. And your video explains how they build it up. And the part about the lyrics vocal not matching the unchanging music, just fascinating. I think they do this with all their songs and that is what makes them unique and fantastic. I love this band! Thanks
i love alex he’s my fav singer and he got me into singing but he is the worst during interviews.. looking at it from an outsider (non-monkeys) perspective he just comes off drunk asf ngl
I think it’s because he’s just naturally a shy and reserved individual. He also strikes me as someone who doesn’t want to reveal a lot of personal stuff to the world. For example, when the interview asked him if “Do I Wanna Know” was based on a girl, he simply said “yes” and did not further elaborate. He also normally does sound a bit deadpan which might play into why he seems drunk.
im a record producer & I never realized how messy this song sounds. the arrangement & performances are super clean but the sound is messy. guess that's what gives it such a "cool" feeling.
I discovered the band through Krogstad Dad memes. Specifically the Full Metal Alchemist one. "Have you ever been forced to be a child soldier for the government because you decided to fork around and find out about Equivalent Exchange by resurrecting yer neglected mother, and it cost you yer arm, yer leg, and your brother's entire corporeal form? Well that's hwhat it feels like to drive the new Ford EFFWONPHIDDIE." It's a much slower version of that banger of a riff while someone's knocking ping pong balls into beer pong cups, but I'm like "I must know what that riff is." So, I found it. I've been hooked ever since.
I think that, like, the construction, and the singer, probably kind of made the song come to life like some kind of thing. They can write a song, but my god they try and talk some absolute shit while being interviewed.
Killer song with a to-die-for riff, but it would have been nice if you had discussed the different parts in depth, Beato or 12tone style, since these guys are frustratingly inarticulate about their own song.
Thanks! I used to go in more theory details in my previous vids, now I try to keep it more high-level. Ultimately I'd like to strike the right balance of both
unfortunately for me, the last two albums are really boring, and the way he's singing now is not good to my ears, like a caricature... to me, 2010-2011 (submarine, suck it and see) was the peak of his talent. I hope to find good things in the future... But that's ok, I found a crazy talented duo those last few years (thanks to an AM concert) 'The Lemon Twigs'. Genuises to my ears.
“The piano which I can’t play”..
Tbhc: PIANO
Exactly what I thought hahahha
He also plays it for the Last Shadow Puppets, if I'm not mistaken. Either he's a very quick learner (which he seems to be) or he was being incredibly modest here (Which also fits the character)
stays betweeen us, steinway and his sons
@@Gabrilos505 well I think 3 years is enough to learn piano but then again he mentioned that the jewellers hands was written on piano
@@Sosq69 He was probably being modest then, with a “self-deprecating” joke. I didn't know that about Jewellers Hands, that's very nice
Oh my god I was NOT expecting that Brilliant ad!
RIGHT? So smooth!!
Now I am expecting a brilliant ad
The editing in this one is amazing, you've outdone yourself
Thanks a lot!!

This is actually the first AM song I've ever heard and have been listening to this and their catalog as a whole since. Cool video.
I love the fact that they look absolutely stoned pretty much all the time.
"Oh, I was right! That never happens" girl😭
LMAOO😭
I discovered Arctic monkeys 6 months ago, and this song is one of my favorites
Awesome, thanks!!
I just saw this recommended and I got so excited. Wanting to make music like Arctic Monkeys and The Neighborhood is something I’ve been excavating so much for but yk there isn’t really much out there on their process/ tutorials 😭❤️

Cool video! The excerpts from those interviews were great. I had never seen them before.
Thanks a lot

Great video mate! Brings a lot of clarity into the band's point of view on creating this beautifull masterpiece!
Thank you!

This song is SO SICK!!! Obsessed.
Loved the video and you're an editing genius.
Thank you!! 🙏
Top quality content as always Marc. Thank you.
Thanks a lot!
The sponsor part was so smooth lol
I can't expect that Vox Starstream was the general inspirator since I guessed it was probably whiskey.
That "ghost in the walls of the guitar" story is pretty cool though
Dunno what went wrong, but I want these to listen too themself and make another album like this one. Smiles in sadness
AM is my fave album from arctic monkeys. I really like R U mine and do i wanna know
It's the combination of all the various mismatched elements into something great. It doesn't follow a standard formula but the end result is fantastic, like sweet, spicy, and savory all together in one delicious dish.
As if I couldn't be more obsessed with this song, this video made me more obsessed with everything about them
Awesome
Dang this dude is really good at breaking down music, he doesn’t get enough credit!
Kudos on the sponsor! Yayyy
Thank you! And thanks for the support still after all those years :)
4:10 through the rest of the vocal section is some of the best musical advice you will get
i respect this channel so much
Thank you!!
WHAT A GOOD WORK DUDE!!!! wow.... many hours, thanks for it, really aprecciate it!!
Thank you so much!
That brilliant transition was more gold than Alex Turner's lyrical genius abilities
Great production!
Thanks a lot!
why this video is so underrated? i seldom write comments but this one is to promote this video to other users
Thank you!!
it was all great, thank you so much for putting sub
Thanks!!
Really enjoyed this
Great!! Thank you bro!! 🔥🦇

Nice video man!
Thank you!!
alex turner in a leather jacket is my kryptonite
Can you please do mad sounds - arctic monkeys keyboard cover?
Thank you!
lovely vid!
Thank you!
Would argue mardi bum was thier most streamed hit. Thats was on limewire shared round the globe long before spotify or youtube was an idea.

I saw them at the Grenada on lower Greenville in Dallas circa 2007. It’s my only hipstery “I heard of them first” phase ever 😂.
That's pretty amazing
can we get one on catfish and the bottlemen? especially now theyre back after their hiatus
Not familiar with the band, will check them out!
That female interviewer was really diggin Matt... 🤩
im a record producer & I never realized how messy this song sounds.

Petition to have Jake gyllenhaal play Alex Turner in the biopic
Dyamn...I thought the same thing too man!
❤❤❤
can you do snap out of it piano cover
Focusing on other types of video for the moment, but perhaps in the future will do other piano ones
I think that, like, the construction, and the singer, probably kind of made the song come to life like some kind of thing.
They can write a song, but my god they try and talk some absolute shit while being interviewed.
Genius
Fucking masterpiece!
Cheers
sick
Thanks!!
Mom: Do you want to eat?
Me: No thx mom, I already ate an Ad
GREAT VIDEO MARC I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Thanks!!
5:18 Matt might be in there....
Why don't you mention the Bass guitar part?
Kind of incorparted into the riff + the groove sections. Initially planned on a dedicated chapter but the vid was getting too long
Fine, I’ll learn it for them girls
whats with the glasses during interviews
Do i wanna know how it was done?
Killer song with a to-die-for riff, but it would have been nice if you had discussed the different parts in depth, Beato or 12tone style, since these guys are frustratingly inarticulate about their own song.

Do I Wanna Know is the sexiest song ❤
Not one reference to Tchad Blake mixing this album. What a shame.
I was right, omgeee that never happens!
Shaddapp, dog brain
I think the bass provides some more power to the song a lot more then most
Agree
Half of the views and plays on youtube/spotify are mine
The other half are probably mine
how stoned are you?
yes.
Is he lowering his voice while he talks? Kinda seems like he's manipulating his voice.
PIKA
Thanks!
ofcourse the bass wasn't spoken about
Initially I had a separate chapter but the vid was becoming too long so I ended up kind of incorporating it into the Groove and Riff sections

foi o único tbm, pq o último album q lançaram é uma bosta.
They’ll never write a tune like A Certain Romance ever again. Still a decent band though.
I dont wanna know😂
ufffff hahaaaaaa
Don’t care
AM album is pop garbage.
Debatable
Superb.
