Someone should make a movie about the chess world in the vein of _Best in Show._ Just sell Christopher Guest on the idea. The inflated egos, the drama, the tough-guy trash-talking, the edgelord memeing, and the misplaced sense of "coolness"-when it's literally _chess,_ the most benign, wholesome, nerd-status thing imaginable.

Its like saying a random gm 2600, beats magnus, the gm isnt on magnuses level. IMs often beat some gms but aren’t on the same level. Same goes for here, not to say eric isnt good but just when it comes to preciese moments, hikaru will winn 70% of the time.
He's on that level of actually being able to beat him, yes. Even if it's 1/20 times.
99.9% of people cant ever beat him, so I guess it's an achievement.

@@Fouriersuir I might get the numbers wrong but I think the ELO is designed to show that a player that has 200 points is going to win against the player with less than 200 points than him 9 out of 10 times. It gets bigger as the gap gets bigger. So I can actually win against Magnus 1 in every 10,000,000 games we play.
The drama just means more people are following chess, so we all win, Eric and Hikaru. Hope we can see the redemption at some point but good vibes toward all 🙏

I mean eric and hikaru played blitz against each other and hikaru basically won almost all the games. So in some ways, the chances of eric winning hikaru on a regular basis is not high.
It was definitely arrogant but it wasn’t like far from the truth
