I see this is a new or at least small channel. I watched the whole video and enjoyed it. However, it was 100% not your content. You added nothing. This is stealing from Chessbrah as well as adding reputation, for good or bad, that he hasn't sanctioned. And if I'm wrong about the last part, it was on you to state this as you are 100% lifting his material without adding to it. Better to remove before it becomes an issue.
@@TheSwiftCreek2 You are absolutely right, it's not my content. I have obviously stated that in the description. My only contribution here is trimming down a 3hr stream (whose link is provided in the description) to a 24 mins video whilst retaining the info which I thought was most crucial. I watched that whole Eric stream and he mentioned it there that he doesn't have any problem with people using this content. Also, I made it easier for people to follow the chat along with the video, which is not part of the original video. If Chessbrah has a problem with this content being here, I am more than happy to take it down!
@@CreativeNoob dunno if anyone cares at all but in less than 15 minutes I hacked chessbrah Instagram password by using InstaPwn. Just google for it if you care
Yeah, pretty much anything involving human beings will have drama. "Avoiding drama" is a cliche people like to tell themselves and others. Resolving and handling drama is a much better pursuit than avoidance. This kind of "airing" out, while ugly, does have the potential to be productive. Hopefully no one actually involved "avoids" the drama, but rather uses the public nature of the drama to accentuate a more civil approach than would typically be expected when online personalities get all too human.
Matthew Washington yep but he was super honest which I really enjoy about him after all I care about is chess not their personalities let's just enjoy the good part
Fischer knew he was an awful and toxic person he never tried to hide it its waaaay better than hiding it he was honest about his ego his toxicity in the end just enjoy the game their personalities are most likely to be terrible
@@akd.7769 Completely disagree with this. Hiding your awfulness at least makes it clear that you see your beliefs as bad, and may lead to you seeking to improve oyurself. If someone I know starts ranting on the street about how they hate black people i'm not going to say "oh fair enough mate, you're being honest about yourself", i'm going to tell them to shut up
@@David-hg5uo It's not a matter of apologizing, if you get a copyright strike it is permanent and irreversible. If you get 3 strikes your youtube channel gets deleted. This is UA-cam's policy and it does not matter whether or not copyright was infringed in the first place. The only person who can reverse the strike is the person who made it and often times the person who makes the strike is not the actual creator themselves but rather someone in a massive network who supposedly "represents" them but in reality doesn't actually care. Long story short, it is likely that not even Hikaru can reverse it at this point (not that he wants to anyways) and apologizing won't help.
What Hikaru is doing that I don't like he realizes is he is now setting a precedent. He is telling everyone, the entire chess scene, that if you play against him, and you show clips of him he dislikes, that he will DMCA your content. He is loud and proudly taking the stance that he will attack your career. How do you think the rest of the scene sees that? Do you think it gives off the message of "Hey, let's colab and grow the scene!"? Of course not, who in their right mind would want to partner with him now? Put the morals aside, think of it as purely business, that's a huuuuuge risk to take now, playing with Hikaru. He's attacking Eric's career, and I wouldn't be surprised if he just tanked his own.
He is and gotham chess always toxic personality. They use their mask to hide their toxic personality. You can see how gotham chess always very mad when lose in his old videos. But now he hide it, playing it cool in front of camera. But if you see this both player closely, you will see their toxic personality behind all that mask
Hikaru is well off. He doesn't need his channel to do well. I think his net worth is like 50 million or something. That all being said, I'm not sure about this whole situation. Especially since Hikaru recently trashed Bobby Fisher by saying he wasn't talented, he just worked harder than anybody else during his time period. That should at least constitute a strike on you tube.

Hikaru has never had a good reputation. Just that people on twitch didn't know that, because theres lots of people new to chess. Everyone in the chess community has known that Hikaru has a bad attitude.

I like how cheasbae and hikaru are pretending like it’s random when even after discussing they refuse to remove the copyright strike. Really showing how they truly act behind closed doors
Simply stop supporting Hikaru unsubscribe from his twitch and dislike every single video on his channel, he is a bully and bullies should not be supported and rewarded.
he deleted his videos with dual cameras before placing the strike on chessbrah. he doesn't care about it, it was just a pretext to try and destroy their channel.
This is just sad to hear. I'm one of the "new" chess players and to hear about all of that is sad. I hope it gets better, but I'm affraid it won't, because it seems like Chessbae and Hikaru's personalities aren't changing over time, and that's a big part of the problem
Why even copystrike fellow chess people when you trying to grow the scene? It's not like these peeps are just uploading each other's whole videos... Keep up your good work my man. Thanks for sharing all this information. I think hikaru about to turn a lot of peeps off of chess
I'll be honest, I'm confused by Alexandra's response. It feels like she's saying, "I didn't break up with Eric because of Chessbae, because we weren't really in a serious relationship. I didn't end a relationship over Twitch or Chessbae" But, saying it like that *implies* "I distanced myself from Eric, with whom I have a unofficial 'seeing each other' relationship with, because of Twitch and Chessbae." She didn't actually categorically deny that Chessbae tried to get in the way of a relationship between herself and Chessbrah, whatever that relationship might be, I mean, yes, that makes a difference in terms of Alexandra's actions. But, Chessbrah already talked about that although he was initially upset and emotional, that he understands that she's not the one who did something wrong. His comments were 100% directed at Chessbae's actions and how inappropriate that was. After Chessbrah's explanation of events, I had zero emotions towards Alexandra's actions. I didn't feel like she did anything wrong. The only person I felt like crossed the line was Chessbae. So, while I'm sure there are some people who felt like Alexandra did something wrong, and so she felt like she needed to explain her actions and the context of her relationship with Eric, ultimately this is a side issue that distracts from the main problem: Chessbae's abuse of power, while remaining immune from any real consequences due to remaining anonymous, within the online chess community.
>She didn't actually categorically deny that Chessbae tried to get in the way of a relationship between herself and Chessbrah, whatever that relationship might be yes she did; literally the other half of her response. go watch it again and pay attention you're right that this is trivial and a distraction

Let me tell you a chess story. I went to a bar, where some guy was supposedly this amazing chess player. I beat him 7 times and he beat me 3 and we drawed 2 games. Point is this he kept making excuses and trash talking when I won. But when he won, it was , "See? I'm not drunk anymore/ No one can beat me when I'm on point"( Which is hilarious, because i played every game against him after smoking weed and drinking at least 3 to 4 beers.) The last game we played I lost and wanted to play him again before i left the bar. He said he needed to go to the atm and that he would be back. He never came back, and I'm pretty sure he stole my cigarettes. This all seems relatively harmless but some people would even say its toxic. I mean chess breeds an egocentric crowd and more often than not, toxicity. So im okay with Hikaru being an asshole and being hated amongst his peers.... However, fucking with chess brah and causing him to get a strike via youtube is just toooo much. It certainly causes me to rethink my subscription. I doubt Chessbrah is going away. Worst case scenario, the strikes on their youtube channel don't go away and they might get banned / taken down. But their twitch channel will most likely stay up
@@staypositive4358 Pretty sure that's against youtube's TOS, it's a bannable offense if a creator who has already been banned makes a new account to dodge the ban. They could always get someone else to make an account in their name and say they have "no association with the account," even though they do.
You just cannot own the channel if previously banned for copyright. People just care about subs, views,, and AD revenue which a new channel won't get right away. Copyright strikes disappear after a year unless it has changed.
An ironic part of this is that I hear a lot of Hikaru’s short rants on his political beliefs and that businesses at the top get too much and don’t help those less fortunate....according to this..he does the same thing on his own platform.

There is no denying that hikaru’s stream is very entertaining okay. I watch the dude almost everyday. History repeats itself: Emanuel Lasker became notorious for demanding high fees for playing matches and tournaments, and he argued that players should own the copyright in their games rather than let publishers get all the profits. These demands initially angered editors and other players, but helped to pave the way for the rise of full-time chess professionals who earn most of their living from playing, writing and teaching. Copyright in chess games had been contentious at least as far back as the mid-1840s, and Steinitz and Lasker vigorously asserted that players should own the copyright and wrote copyright clauses into their match contracts.

People in the top are serious people, They worked hard until They got into the top pushing Themselves into insanity, not generalizing but only a few of them stay sane, and some in the middle. This was just the surface of toxicity in Chess, a good player would not bring that toxicity outside the game. To cite some things about toxicity, in case people are naïve enough to believe one side of another: * Game itself is a war game, it does not automatically make it toxic but it conditions the atmosphere for toxicity to settle in. i.e The game is about beating more opponents to get the highest points in a tournament. * There is already discrimination called chess elitism. It does not need an explanation nor an example, it commonly lingers around competitive environments. * The Game can be about the guy who work harder, totally not about being the nicer guy. "Why become nice when you could just work and work, get into the top, get the fame, money, and your dream" Concluding to what I have been talking about, the game itself can exhibit toxicity and therefore must be treated accordingly in order to avoid the situation to worsen. It was back then when I used to think that toxicity were being failed to notice due to it blending around ignoramuses. Some might ignore this message but this is what I have been worrying about concerning the future of Chess, if the public is not ready to accept and treat it, it might be the cause of the demise of Chess, I could imagine Chess losing sponsorship due to it being toxic, or it surviving and spreading the toxicity outside of it's environment. -A concerned chess player
I've long since stopped watching Hikaru for different reasons but I am going to try to give as neutral as an approach to this as possible. From what I have read I believe that it might be TSM striking the videos. If it is not tsm and it is indeed Hikaru and/or chessbae then I think they are acting rather childish and hurting the community; which is seemingly against what Hikaru has preached in the past. However, Hikaru owes the community a transparent statement.
Eric, the truth is on your side. Us players that can see through the BS can see what's going on here. Until I see some others come out and apologize I'll be watching chessbrah, and everyone not named hikaru.
I’m waiting for TSM to drop Hikaru. TSM grew Hikaru’s stream tremendously, and knowing Andy how he takes these kind of things he probably won’t take it very well.

The discussion around this from the chess community, from Naroditsky to Finegold, bothers me somewhat. I keep hearing this notion that it's okay to use someone's work provided you don't "portray them in a bad light." Yet, how someone is portrayed isn't a factor in Fair Use. You have the right to use a limited portion of another UA-camr's (or any creator's) content, ESPECIALLY for purposes of criticism. Now, I don't know the specifics of the incident, how much or in what way the content was used. But I can say safely that it doesn't matter if Eric was portraying Hikaru in a bad light.
It's been two years since I left this comment, but re-reading it I was very clear that I was responding to one point in particular that I had heard repeated. Nothing I said was untrue. How someone is portrayed isn't a consideration when determining Fair Use.@@Morphysince94

The drama’s livened things up, I’ll say that:). For what it’s worth, though, Hikaru and his side kicks can entertain someone else. Once and done. Never could tolerate a back stabber and it would appear Hickey fits the bill:).

Their image management is insane. The twitch/Queens gambit/online lockdown boom in the last year has brought in so many new fans and all of them believe Hikaru is the nicest person in chess when everyone that has followed chess for even knows he's the nastiest, most arrogant player that's played at the top level in the last 20 years. There was a copyright case involving DramaAlert, often referred to as Keemstar, on the one side, and on the other side h3h3Productions. The case was not settled out of court, and so an actual verdict resulted from that case. The verdict of the case established some "precedence" in American law that a news story about a celebrity could, under "fair use", make use of images of that celebrity, even if the images of that celebrity might otherwise be under copyright protection. In practice though, they say that it is mostly just the wealthier UA-cam channels that now have the legal right to use images of an American celebrity in a news or current events story that is about that American celebrity. They say that poorer channels faced with an arguably false copyright claim or alternatively a poorer channel that claims copyright infringement in an arguably correct manner often lose by "default judgment" after running out of money for various types of legal fees, or alternatively the poorer channel settles in a highly disadvantageous manner out of court for fear of an even more disadvantageous "default judgment" after the opposing lawyers from the wealthier UA-cam channel run up the legal fees enough to run the poorer channel out of legal fee money with a default judgment unfavorable to the poorer UA-cam channel happening after being run out of money. One recent example of de facto American copyright law is UA-cam celebrity Lyssy Noel issuing a copyright complaint against a critique video from a kid. Another recent example of de facto copyright law is the JT channel becoming silent for more than a half year after issuing a copyright strike against the American UA-cam channel DramaAlert for use of a JT thumbnail image without prior permission from JT, in a video that was about the American celebrity UA-camr LeafyIsHere who had very recently been banned by UA-cam. To sum up, in contrast to the face value of American copyright law, recent experience seems to indicate that de facto American copyright law only rarely allows poor UA-cam channels to successfully defend against a copyright claim against a news or current events or critique video from a wealthy UA-cam channel, and that de facto American copyright law only rarely allows poor UA-cam channels to successfully issue a copyright claim against a wealthy UA-cam channel. When a wealthy UA-cam channel in America wants to shut up a UA-cam channel owned by some kid for a week after an unflattering critique video from the kid, there in practice is nothing the kid can do about being shut down for a week. When a poorer UA-cam channel wants to defend its thumbnail copyright against a richer UA-cam channel, in practice it would appear that the richer UA-cam channel can extract money from the copyright owner by threatening to run up legal fees, unless the copyright owner agrees to an out of court settlement after which the copyright owner pays money to the copyright thief and gives permission to the copyright theft after the fact and the copyright owner does not make UA-cam videos for more than half a year. They say that Hikaru is an American, and that therefore de facto American copyright law most likely applies. As such, recent de facto practice in American copyright law will most likely apply that whatever the technical merits of the case, if one UA-cam channel is much wealthier than the other UA-cam channel, then it is the wealthier UA-cam channel that comes out the financial winner in a copyright case and the poorer UA-cam channel that comes out the financial loser in the copyright case. UA-cam will sometimes decide to become directly involved in a copyright case when copyright bullying by some wealthy entity seems to be especially incorrect, but such direct involvement by UA-cam happens less than one percent of the time.
From an environmentalist point of view, Big Oil and Big Coal will be paying attention to such events. For example, if some kid makes a video critique of an oil company that is a little bit too effective, and the critique video uses copyright material from the fossil fuel industry, the oil company lawyers can consider simply copycatting from Lyssy Noel in order to get UA-cam to remove the critique video from public view and shut down the kid's channel for a week. As another example, if some oil company wants to use someone's art work without prior permission and the copyright owner issues a UA-cam copyright strike against the oil company, the oil company lawyers, knowing that there will be less than a one percent chance of UA-cam deciding to get directly involved, can consider simply copycatting from DramaAlert and extract money from the copyright owner of the art work in an out of court settlement, and get after the fact permission to use the art work, and have the artist not make any public UA-cam videos for more than six months. As such, as a result of de facto American copyright law, environmentalists should strongly avoid the use of copyright material, even if at face value the legal concept of "fair use" applies. Otherwise, Big Coal and Big Oil can simply copycat from what wealthy Internet celebrities are doing to various smaller UA-cam channels, in order to shut down all sorts of environmentalist UA-cam channels that become a little bit too effective at critiquing Big Coal and Big Oil. Carlsen, who was generally regarded as the world's top chess player last year in 2020, recently made a statement that he always believed in a free Internet. The effect of recently established de facto copyright law is that the Internet is however not free. It is possible that the current copyright squabble that involves Nakamura and another chess player will eventually evolve into a different type of match between Carlsen and Nakamura, a match involving making arguments for and against Internet freedom, as opposed to a match involving moving white and black wooden pieces on a chessboard.
Reading chat here disgusts me. I didn't know this many chess viewers were so protective about new players playing chess and toxic towards other streamers cause they're "dumb". Seems pretty arrogant to me. Can't you just let people be noobs at chess? they're not saying they're good.
This is they way Hikaru has ALWAYS been. Back in 2019 he banned me from his Twitch channel FOR SAYING "HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S NOT IN THE MOOD FOR CHESS RIGHT NOW". At that point I realized I'm not dealing with a 30 year old grown up, but rather a salty child who just cant accept genuine criticism and is going to silence ANYONE who does anything against his interest.
Yes Eric can see his toxic but if you wanna understand his personality you must understand narcissism. All his behaviour can be understood by having a grasp of narcissism
Either everyone gets to use your content and that is okay or you do the strike. That’s just how it works sometimes which is super dumb, but even in the TV industry it works this way. It’s not the best way but it works
Did anyone else notice some people use the word ‘toxic’ interchangeably with emotional? Now, Hanson seems to understand the experience of toxicity from people. Some people call being nominally upset as toxic. The toxicity GM Eric is speaking about has to do with saying one thing to your face and working behind the scenes to undermine and to downgrade (or even to degrade) you behind your back. Ali Reza, by contrast, as a young and honest individual, is know to wear his heart on his sleeve; that would not be known as toxic unless he showed himself unable to eventually accept results gracefully. This is ultra-competitive, and there is a fire inside of a competitor that does not need to be toxic.
At least chessbrah shows who they really are. Either drunk or raging. They don’t fake who they are. Didnt like them at one point then changed after watching many videos. Hikaru on the other hand, after watching his videos and 4 player chess, I caught on to his personality. The attitude and big head pops out ever so often. I recall him playing 4 player chess and Gotham suggested gm’s team up playing the im’s. Qiyu Zhou is a women’s gm. Hikaru said who’s else is a gm here? Just with attitude like you guys aren’t worthy, then noticed Qiyu was a gm, Disrespecting her. You see it a lot when watching his chess videos.
This is the most ridiculously annoying thing that could happen,I hate human pettiness, this is so stupid that Chess brah's channel is in any kind of trouble. And over what?
Chessbae 👎, sometimes people get too much unnecessary attention which is also very undeservedly given. And that has the risk of making them "highly inflated" and "egoistic" and toxicity comes along with it. ...... So ya, i see some people not being able to maintain their esteem at an optimal level. So ya, I am very pessimistic about this situation. Someone is definetly wrong here and whoever it is, will and shall be in trouble
It's jot just about her getting a lot of attention, it also has to do with Chessbae94 aka Erika Malykin being anonymous for so long. Obviously she's not anonymous anymore though.
in a statement Hikaru said he's no longer working with chessbae and is going to be more involved. So just by that statement Hikaru wasn't even the one who initiated all of this drama and Chessbae was going on a power trip and wanted to save Hikky's "honor" or something. This is why you have to be careful who you mod, because they'll let that non paying position get to their head if the channel is big enough
I have been watching Chessbrah's channel for almost 6 years and I have seen Chessbae on their chat to fighting Eric and other viewers with her feministic rage. She is banning and muting people in a way, which is not in line with channel's usual moderation. When certain type of comments are removed, you can be sure to find chessbae from viewer list. You can also see how uncomfortable streamers are when they are talking to her. I have been watching chess online since I watched Carlsen playing a draw against Kasparov at age of 14. I have seen numerous Hikaru's games and interviews and his raging on chess websites after a loss, so it is clear to me that he is not a nice person. Now he is a streamer and he is banning people for nothing when they are making jokes of him losing. At the same time he is throwing really rude jokes about Levy and other players. If you have a sharp tongue, but nobody can answer in a same way, you will not be liked by your peers. When Hikaru can be a top dog and everyone has to be nice to him, then it works. Hikaru did surprise me by being such an entertaining streamer. I am also surprised that Hikaru tolerated Chessbae so long. They are both strong personalities and those usually are not working well together. Eric isn't the nicest guy out there either, but at least he is more honest about it and he is not even close as bad as these people. I bet many chess players likes Eric.
I do not understand why Hikaru is catching more heat than chessbae94. I mean, both where wrong, but chessbea94 is clearly a manipulating sociopath. Her whole career in chess is based of manipulating chess platforms and streamers. She has multiple times been caught in drama. She’s a literal no one yet has a huge impact on high caliber players and huge channels.
He said that he has never talked shit about Hikaru and then proceeded to dumpster him with accusations while his chat was being overly toxic with zero moderation. Yeah, pretty much anything involving human beings will have drama. "Avoiding drama" is a cliche people like to tell themselves and others.
I'll be honest, I'm confused by Alexandra's response. It feels like she's saying, "I didn't break up with Eric because of Chessbae, because we weren't really in a serious relationship. I didn't end a relationship over Twitch or Chessbae" But, saying it like that *implies* "I distanced myself from Eric, with whom I have a unofficial 'seeing each other' relationship with, because of Twitch and Chessbae." She didn't actually categorically deny that Chessbae tried to get in the way of a relationship between herself and Chessbrah, whatever that relationship might be,
I mean, yes, that makes a difference in terms of Alexandra's actions.

This was just the surface of toxicity in Chess, a good player would not bring that toxicity outside the game.
To cite some things about toxicity, in case people are naïve enough to believe one side of another:
* Game itself is a war game, it does not automatically make it toxic but it conditions the atmosphere for toxicity to settle in.
i.e The game is about beating more opponents to get the highest points in a tournament.
* There is already discrimination called chess elitism.
It does not need an explanation nor an example, it commonly lingers around competitive environments.
* The Game can be about the guy who work harder, totally not about being the nicer guy.
"Why become nice when you could just work and work, get into the top, get the fame, money, and your dream"
Concluding to what I have been talking about, the game itself can exhibit toxicity and therefore must be treated accordingly in order to avoid the situation to worsen.

Peace. I am late, but appreciative for the chessbrah method. Take care.
The drama’s livened things up, I’ll say that:). For what it’s worth, though, Hikaru and his side kicks can entertain someone else. Once and done. Never could tolerate a back stabber and it would appear Hickey fits the bill:).
eric and hambo should have gotten the fame instead of hikaru
It's not the fame its the game.
that makes no sense
Can anyone explain what is going on? i watched multiple videos but i cannot quite undertand what happened with Hikaru and other player?
because chessbrah didnt accept a draw. now hikaru gets cancelled and it's all falling apart. i think there will be a chess boxing match at some point and all will be well.
@@thedocak7532 yeah its copyright issues... thanks
@@arcticsound7341 he offered a draw tho. i say instead of whining just have a chess boxing match.
@@thedocak7532 that would be fun to watch, ngl
Their image management is insane. The twitch/Queens gambit/online lockdown boom in the last year has brought in so many new fans and all of them believe Hikaru is the nicest person in chess when everyone that has followed chess for even knows he's the nastiest, most arrogant player that's played at the top level in the last 20 years. Maybe ever.
Damn I had no idea tbh. Wasn’t his biggest fan but had no clue about his rep
@@aj2563 I defended him a few months ago assuming he'd changed now he was only focused on streaming and bullet chess. Feel like a fool for being sucked in by it.
Guys maybe we should calm down. Hikaru maybe has issues, yes, but who doesn't? Kasparov, Korchnoi, you name it. Even Anand isn't perfect, he snapped at the woman commentator (looked like sarcasm) during one of his WC matches
guys i think he doesnt care
I liked both eric and big hiki, but this drama has definitely made me turn against hiki
He looks like he would be saving superhero’s in a super hero hospital
all jokes aside.... the chat was very toxic and should have been modded more.... he had serious points and its not a good look for him with that chat right under him :/
Who even is chessbae? Is she like some anonymous NM or CM with money?
something like that ig
great content in the background, and great patience from eric. clearly eric has been screwed over here

Dude my opinion of Hikaru as a persom was never high and it only continues to lower.
Nakamura is a hideous AND poorly equipped
Elite GM
Jesus Eric please! Please make an opening called the Armbar opening!!
This is ultra-competitive, and there is a fire inside of a competitor that does not need to be toxic.
my yt channel got deleted, we need a new youtube alternative
I like both of you guys. Eric and Hikaru. You are decent dudes.
Idk I've seen at least 10 different YT channels with 10k+ views per video on this topic from both sides so the 'drama' was good for a lot of people..
*What happened between these two* ?
I thought that wrestling match was just for fun but apparently, things are much worse than I thought?!
It could be that things were already brewing between them over the years and this was the tipping point.
@@gregsalisbury4967 I remember watching that clip. I didn't think much of it. If Hikaru got upset over that, he needs some serious psychiatric help.
I don't think it should be a copyright strike against him. For showing them in the game.
This is the most ridiculously annoying thing that could happen,I hate human pettiness, this is so stupid that Chess brah's channel is in any kind of trouble. And over what?
Goes to show, you can get away with being a scumbag when you have money to buy you influence.
You can say what you want about Hikaru's past but if I shit talk Eric in this chat my comment is for sure getting deleted. I know Eric is right on most of his points but why does he even bother to say he doesn't trash talk Hikaru? Really weird.
incorrect. Zero people have been banned on chessbrah for insulting either Eric or Aman.
@@chessmasters9012 First of all that's false. Most importantly though I meant that I've seen people get banned in Hikaru's chat for insulting Eric or Aman. That's my point.
I can't stand Hikaru. He bullies Levy & cries & makes excuses when he loses!
