What I like about this Anime it's that it's essentially a satire of the "epic" genre of the anime itself, making fun of it, exalting everything that we know will happend but making it looking subtle, we know the good guy will win, we know the enemy will do bad things in a big scale yet the anime make it look like nothing because at the end the equation will go in the same way, the good guy will win the bad one will not, simple as that and how they threat that it's superb. thumbs up to Onepunch man.
That anime is actually god damn hilarious. And you're right it's a great I gotta show this to my non anime watching friends. Also I gotta do his routine. 100 pushups, 100 squats, and 10km everyday. And no air-conditioning!
I don't know if One Punch Man is a good gateway anime because it satires (ridicules) many of the tropes that exist in a typical anime. By exposing someone to OPM they are likely to dislike most things they watch after.
+Lerkero I disagree for the most part The satire it offers will be lost on most that are unfamiliar with the tropes, but I believe that it is still decent as a "comedy" regardless, as you don't need to watch many anime to feel tension or laugh when it's subverted. I'd say that it's a "okay" comedy with a cool style that offers a deeper level of satire for those acquainted with battle-shonen in general. As evidence for believing this see: Gintama It's pretty much the same thing, honestly, but with a heavier focus on gags and comedy than the main character. However I feel like this difference is small enough to lump them together. The biggest issue I'd see is the "quality" of animation/style to a new person, as anime these days is more "clean and polish" looking to those who haven't been around long enough to regard most of it as "sterile and bland"
+Pseudo Lain your right actually. One punch man is a cool gateway to anime and it plays good satire similar to gintama. Don't see anything wrong with the animation though
Him saving ballsack chin is what made the superhero organisation become a thing, it was the kid's grandfather that made the businessmen. It's just one HUGE joke how he is the lowest ranked hero in the anime at one point.
At 2:22 she says Saitama is on his way to job interview but he is actually coming back from a second interview that actually didn't go well, so Saitama is fed up with the normal way of life and decides to take on his childhood dream of becomoing a super hero
The reason why the style changes is that the main art director brought almost every AAA artist in the anime industry on this project! Naruto, FMA, and more!
ARandomGuy They are super hero tropes from anime, not american superheros. Although their are similarities a lot of the satire is making fun of tropes that don't occur In american superhero movies/tv shows.
The parody of other anime isn't what makes OP man good. There's lots of other animes like gintama that do parodies. OP man has many other things going for it.
Death Note, another Madhouse show, was my gateway into anime. Usually you can't go wrong with Madhouse (not that they are perfect either, but they have some really good shows)
What a Ti surprise! I've been holding off on watching it since there are still some summer anime I have to finish up. I did make an exception for the new Lupin III.
I think One-Punch Man is real awesome so far. It's one of my three Ace Shows for the season right now (besides "Is The Order a Rabbit??" (Season 2) and "Attack on Titan: Junior High"). Also, welcome to the force, Ti! (Miss, you NEED to see Episode 4 right away. That one is comedy incarnate IMO.) I'm also assuming that Anna and David are our new emperors/shoguns. In that case, you two are way more than welcome to the Anime Vice Boards right now! Why not introduce yourselves?
He did get to the job interview. He just got rejected again at the interview and therefore was really sad when he was going home and he met the crab man who made him become a hero.
+Justin Brownlee According to ONE, Saitama actually did end up finding a job at a convience store, during which he saved up money to live off of for about a year before devoting himself entirely to training to be a hero. Which is why Saitama is so broke in the beginning chapters, his nest egg is running out, and with more and more people leaving city Z, he can't subsist off gifts from peoples he's helped as often anymore.
+Jas (Jaspan) Actually he didn't. Saitama's innate potential was some of the lowest of anyone in the setting, according to the manga itself. Though, that part hasn't been covered in the re-drawn version yet. His hard training is what ultimately caused his strength because he literally broke the universe in the process by growing stronger then his what pre-destined potential was supposed to be. Which normally people get consumed by the obsession that causes them to break their limits and become monsters as the universe auto-corrects such anomalies, but Saitama went all the way through without losing himself and is no longer limited at all, aside for the limits he believes he possesses based on his expectations of his training and goal. We get to see a much more controlled version of the phenomena with Garou, whose extremely high destined potential means the amount of challenge he needs to push against that limit is harder to find, where as Saitama quickly broke his limits through relatively mundane actions and didn't even notice until much later. Which is a large part of why he can't explain how he gained his strength, he simply doesn't know.
thanks for that, found my new hero, next time just say it when it is a Mad House animation ok? so that people won't make the mistake to ignore it. also check out Redline, do a review on that
Nope that dosen't automatically make it a shounen it's just destributed by shounen jump cause it makes fun of shounen elements while at the end of the day it is considered seinen ... but tbh what truely matters is that it's friggin epic and we all love it lol XD... sorry if i seem annoying at all
OPM is GATEWAY? WHEN????? HOW???? If you want gateway I'll list them: Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo YuYu Hakusho Inuyasha Ghost In The Shell TV series (NOT THE MOVIE) Baccano. HunterXHunter 2011
RandomIdiotWhoCan'tFindAName OPM shouldn't be considered gateaway..why? It's a parody of other typical cliched battle/martial-arts shounen anime/manga...beginners won't get the joke.
I've only read the manga, is the anime the way they say? Because he doesn't seem anything like someone chasing a 'challenge' in the manga. One Punch man would be Worst gateway Manga I could think off.
+karlpilkington1990 Did u saw Saitama vs Genos fight? Saitamas's didn't even punched genos it was only the shockwave that cleared the whole mountain behind him! That was completly mind blowing. I wande what if he actually punch the mountain what damage he will do. I wish he will enclose his full power at the final fight with Borus!

One Punch Man is probably one of the worst GATE-WAY anime... It makes a lot jokes relating to anime... You need context of the media to understand... Someone without this context would probably be turned off anime in general.
his name isn't actually one punch man, his name is saitama, or in the media, caped baldy
+ZephyrDevil True, but he is a man who only needs one punch ;P
Its the name of the anime dude. plus its this his superhero name
+Carl Bloke Only, it's not though. His super hero name is "Caped Baldy" :D
dark7mark No its One Punch Man
+Carl Bloke no it isnt
Before watching this, let me say that this manga and anime are possibly the greatest thing to grace the culture.

This video was not as cringeworthy as I thought it was going to be. Bravo.
I would just say that One Punch Man is the best anime for newcomers who are really into Comic Books
+max101victory This and maybe Tiger and Bunny.
Anime will invade the world... it will be a paradise. 😂
+Dorupero which anime.....if its tokyo ghoul or dragon ball we are so fucked
+Tarik Smith In your favor sir....in your favor...😀
+AnakinBongWater And then it will usher in WW. Waifu Wars, #onoderamasterrace
My theory is that Saitama unknowingly ran his 10km around a nuclear power plant.
I don't know if One Punch Man is a good gateway anime because it satires (ridicules) many of the tropes that exist in a typical anime. By exposing someone to OPM they are likely to dislike most things they watch after.
+Lerkero Maybe, it's a good Gateway anime for comic book fans.
+Lerkero It's a good way to get people to accept anime and see that it has many genres, plus it's really good for people who like comedy.
+Lerkero
I disagree for the most part
The satire it offers will be lost on most that are unfamiliar with the tropes, but I believe that it is still decent as a "comedy" regardless, as you don't need to watch many anime to feel tension or laugh when it's subverted.

+Lerkero It also satirizes a lot of Western tropes. Superheroes are mostly a Western thing.
Him saving ballsack chin is what made the superhero organisation become a thing, it was the kid's grandfather that made the businessmen. It's just one HUGE joke how he is the lowest ranked hero in the anime at one point.
Anime of 2015- As the show stands right now this is one of the best anime I have seen ever
he did go on the job interview. he said he got rejected and that's why he had dead eyes and the crab guy didn't kill him.
+rhago32 Yeah you're right, but either way he still doesn't have a job ;P
Anime Vice he's a total slacker. I loved his dream sequence. Looking forward to the hero registry.
Yup, totally a gateway anime. Most of my friends can't stomach anything other than AoT, and maybe FMA:B, but they all loved OPM.
At 2:22 she says Saitama is on his way to job interview but he is actually coming back from a second interview that actually didn't go well, so Saitama is fed up with the normal way of life and decides to take on his childhood dream of becomoing a super hero

Definitely not a gateway anime, as almost all of the parody as well as other hidden themes in the show will be overlooked.
+Protagonist Most of the stuff it parodies are superhero troupes and what's the most popular type of movies at the moment?
ARandomGuy They are super hero tropes from anime, not american superheros. Although their are similarities a lot of the satire is making fun of tropes that don't occur In american superhero movies/tv shows.

Great video! Great to see new folks on Anime Vice. For folks who don't have a Viz Media account, One-Punch Man is also available on HULU, too.
+cheabattambang I think you can watch it on Neon Alley even if you don't have an account but it's good to know people can watch on HULU too :)
subscribed because of cinefix people, Ti is in this video and One Punch Man is the best anime I have seen in years
Wha ..?
My girl T is on Anime Vice ..?
Thats rowdy hah
It's all about Satire! I think that's what so great about it for me.
What a Ti surprise!
I've been holding off on watching it since there are still some summer anime I have to finish up. I did make an exception for the new Lupin III.
Two things; love Anime Vice, really love Ti! One Punch Man is awesome and Ti described it for casual anime watchers perfect.
Also, I'm going to check this anime out now. Thanks for the synopsis.
+Kbarnes83 Yay! Let us know what you think!
+Anime Vice Finished the first episode and am hooked.
Whole Armour Ministries how was it

+Master Menos Thanks for the warm welcome! We've been meaning to say hi on the boards for a while, we'll be sure to stop by soon.
He did get to the job interview. He just got rejected again at the interview and therefore was really sad when he was going home and he met the crab man who made him become a hero.

Ti has a really nice voice.
And it sounds like she's in a whole other room with a different equipment.
one of my favorite epi was when one punch man finally got some strong guy to fight but at last
it was just a dream
This anime reminded me of Axe Cop because some things just feel like a little kid made it up.
2:52-3:10 Ti acting how i act when friend rant about stuff i don't know much about
If this is what gets people into anime I'm so glad it is. OPM is fantastic.
For the fact that you guys brought up The Tick, I give this a 3 thumbs up
in the manga untill now he gave one "moderate punch" to a foe
Saitama in OPM is actually named after a town in Japan if I remember correctly
I haven't met a single person that has watched One Punch Man and disliked it.
ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!
>anime focused channel COMPLETELY butchering so many obvious things
>me dying inside
keep up the good work guys!
+Bago Garde Thanks!
I thought she looked familiar, I love Cinefix.
You probably know this already though but he didnt get that dtrong just by training
ok im totally into One Punch Man now....crazy silly dope super hero concept
You got a lot of information about his powers and everything wrong. He didn't train really hard to get really strong. He had it all along.
+Jas (Jaspan) Actually he didn't. Saitama's innate potential was some of the lowest of anyone in the setting, according to the manga itself. Though, that part hasn't been covered in the re-drawn version yet.

I love Ti.. Cute and funny as hell

Kind of interesting? One punch man is the best anime this year.
ti should play a opm drinking game. 🍹 🎮
one word: Gintama
forget about the anime the girl with the restless shirt is cute :)
I've read the manga, its pretty funny.
Casuals
Based on a web series not a manga.
It's a sattire seinen manga
No it's a satire shonen series
Carl Bloke no it's seinen if u look on google or anything like that u'll figure out it's seinen it's just produced by shounen jump
Carl Bloke just check wikipedia or any information site it's seinen
ULTIMATE GMAN47 Is there any real evidence? One Punch man is made by shonen jump which obviously means its a shonen
Nope that dosen't automatically make it a shounen it's just destributed by shounen jump cause it makes fun of shounen elements while at the end of the day it is considered seinen ... but tbh what truely matters is that it's friggin epic and we all love it lol XD... sorry if i seem annoying at all
Watch last ep he didn't one punch the bad guy you know Boros
OPPAI!
One-punch man or how i like to say: How to make a Boring superhero
TI is pretty. In a respectable, non objectifying women type of way
to the girl on the left, are these real O.O ?
this show doesnt take place in japan...
lol best fucking anime ever
OPM is GATEWAY? WHEN????? HOW???? If you want gateway I'll list them:
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
YuYu Hakusho
Inuyasha
Ghost In The Shell TV series (NOT THE MOVIE)
Baccano.
HunterXHunter 2011

Saitama ROCKS!!!! and he is the #1 Master God of Heroes.
can yall review neon genesis evangelion
I wish it was on crunchyroll but viz never partners with crunchyroll
+Leo Cortes That's because they have their own video service so you can watch it for free on Neon Alley.
You can watch it on Daisuki.net. Official streaming, basically like Crunchyroll minus the ads.
I've only read the manga, is the anime the way they say?
Because he doesn't seem anything like someone chasing a 'challenge' in the manga.
One Punch man would be Worst gateway Manga I could think off.
Im here for plot
I'm here for the comments
Is Saitama even stronger than Goku or Superman.???
Oh! i thought of the same.
