    Ben checks over Oaker’s Squarebody and uses the TOPDON Thermal Camera! Make sure to check it out the link is down a little further. Ben puts the ignition back in the side by side now that we have the key! Natie learns how to texture and it’s quite a sight to see! Ben looks over Natie’s car to see why the check engine light keeps turning on! There was a water leak! Ben and Oaker get muddy down in the hole and fixed it! We also finished more siding on the house! It’s always somethin’!
    This video was a whole lot of different jobs we had to get checked off the list! Thanks for tuning in!
    Don’t forget we have MERCH!

    One can never have issues with anyone willing to finish sheet rock.
    When I built the house in the 80's my wife had her health back then. I can close my eyes and see her with a large paintbrush, trowel and topping mud finishing all the bedrooms. She also put the tile in the bathroom. I did the framing and the rest of the interior walls in cedar. She passed away in 2021 but house still has her touch in it. For 40 years she was love at first sight and love at last sight.

    You should try mesh tape for dry wall it's a lot better than paper. You don't have to prep it. Just slap it on the wall and mud.

    I am not normally someone to critique peoples work , as I have always been on the corrected end. That being said , I have found that if you put more than 1 and a half wraps of telflon on a fitting you run a very high risk of splitting a fitting( been there- done that.) However- if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't doing anything , And not doing anything is definitly not your style. Keep on keeping on!

    My Brother & I redid the ceilings in our family home. We used spaghetti rollers, paint trays & thinned the mud down to a thick-ish pancake batter consistency. Ya just roll it on like you're painting. Ya get the popcorn style ceiling. Let dry 2-5 days, than primer & Paint. .Did a 12ft x 18ft ceiling in about 20 minutes. Y'all are doing an awesome job on your house.

    Way too many screws in your drywall, but I guess if it is worth doing then it is worth over doing.
    A .75 nap roller and just apply the mud, then stamp. You can also get a texture gun hooked to a compressor spray it on then do a light knock down sand.
    I always wear a bandana on my dome when doing any lid work.
    I skim my walls then skip trowel while it's wet. 👽🗿👽🗿👽

    I understand why you guys have those spigots, but I don't get why almost all of them are unsupported. There is a lot of potential mechanical advantage applied even just opening the spigot, let alone tripping over it etc.. is there a reason you don't bury a post next to it and attach it to that also? Thanks for the great content (and happy to be educated as we don't freeze over winter like you do :) )

    Ben - On EVAP codes I'm finding that with the cheaper filler necks they are putting on vehicles over the past 20 years that many can't maintain a good seal due to all the nicks and dents the fuel station nozzles put on them especially when people are in a hurry and hit the smooth nose around the filler neck instead of putting the nozzle in the center. Sometimes you really have to work hard with the wet and dry sandpaper to get them smoothed out enough to seal well enough again without throwing a code. Of course even after telling them why they had a problem they come back again with the filler neck all beat up with the vehicle throwing an EVAP code. Eventually they beat it up enough to need a new filler neck to make it seal again.
    Best!

    I ran the texture gun and had a paddle crew come behind me with the large flexible plastic paddles on long handles doing the knock down part of the process. With 3 helpers we could get 20 residential ceilings done in a day so 3 to 5 moderate sized homes/apartments. Been 20 or so years since I've seen someone still using a brush or sponge.
    Personally I don't like how the texture even after its been knocked down attracts dust/cobwebs, is harder to keep clean and takes more paint to re-coat afterwards. Its a double edged sword so you either pay now by making the walls and ceilings sanded smooth for paint or pay later using more paint over the years to freshen things and keep it clean looking. With the insane prices on paint lately I'm inclined to go with the method that will save me on the cost of paint in the long run.
    Best!

    • @bandmsgarage
      @bandmsgarage  5 місяців тому

      That is true. I am not a fan of smooth walls. Inevitably there will be some sheetrock that needs repair in its life time. It is easier to blend in a repair with texture. There is always two sides to every coin. Both are valid sides. Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge and experiences! It takes a lot to share and we love it! Thank you!

    • @neilfromclearwaterfl81
      @neilfromclearwaterfl81 5 місяців тому

      @@bandmsgarage Not so sure about texture being easier to blend and repair. Haven't yet seen a perfect or close to perfect texture repair but plenty of invisible repairs on smooth walls.
      One big problem you can get into with smooth walls (along with doors, windows and trim) is roller coastering due to the framers not checking the crown on the framing and setting it all in the same direction such as out and up. When I started my apprenticeship one of my tasks was to take a lumber crayon and mark the direction of the crown with an arrow when stacking the lumber on site. Also had to mark those that were too twisted for critical areas and put them in a separate pile.
      After feathering out a smooth wall repair just match the nap of the roller used before, paint it and your golden.
      Most of my guys though were also plasterers so smooth was their forte'.
      Most dry wallers would be hard pressed to plaster 16 to18 foot cathedral ceilings from the ground floor using hawks and feather boards on long poles having the surface coming out smooth as glass. Certain skill and artistry along with physicality to that which I never attained.
      Best!
