- More from the Anam an Amhráin dvd, the dreamlike visuals are accompanied by Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh's great vocals.
Copyright belongs to Sónta and Cartoon Saloon, I make no claim of copyright ownership, blah blah. Again, to reiterate, I am only uploading these because the only other version available is of low quality, and these deserve to be seen at a proper resolution and without watermarks.
The dvd is well worth a purchase and I highly recommend you do so. It is multi-region and you can get it at www.cartoonsalo...
I sang this song 74 years ago in St Mary's hall Mullingar. It was my last public singing performance!
I sang it 7 years ago in St Marys hall to

It's an Irish song? My mum who is algerian, sang me this song in her arabic dialectal when i was in hospital at three years old, now i'm 47. Where she heards it, she lived in the mountains during the french colonization. Now she lives in France where i'm borned and live. Yema , i love you.💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
Wow, that's really interesting! Any more info? Was it the same melody? Is your mother Berber origin? Maybe that's the link that is talked about in the documentary about north Africa's links with Ireland west. Thanks for sharing this! :-)
It's irish
Its Irish but this same tune is used for many many songs in many languages.
Often the same tune will be used for many songs with different lyrics.
The celtic irish, gallic French, ancient Italians, Britons, Germans, Welsh, isle of mann and a number of Scottish are descended from the same original group
An-deas ar fad. Tá sé go hálainn cruth nua a fheiceáil ar shean-amhráin. Lean ar aghaidh leis an dea-obair!
I remember singing this 9 and I never forgot the words for 13 years☺🇮🇪
You can see how the style of wolfwalkers and other great films came to be.

Here is the English translation of this Irish-language song:
There's a fair tomorrow in the County Clare.
There's a fair tomorrow in the County Clare.
There's a fair tomorrow in the County Clare.
But what's the use I won't be there.
Chorus:
Oh mother, won't you let me go to the fair?
Oh mother, won't you let me go to the fair?
Oh mother, won't you let me go to the fair?
My fondest child, Oh please don't ask.
You're not even ten or eleven years old.
You're not even ten or eleven years old.
You're not even ten or eleven years old.
When you're thirteen I'll let you go.
(chorus)
I'm in love with the cobbler man.
I'm in love with the cobbler man.
I'm in love with the cobbler man.
If I don't get him, I can't live on.
(chorus)
It is absolutely beautiful. I always love listening to songs in Irish Gaelic.

Bhaineas ana thaithneamh as. Go hálainn.
I could've sworn there was this video but it named Beidh Aonach Amarach
corruptNihilist Me too
corruptNihilist 2 names for the song I suppose. I knew it as "Beidh anoch amárach i gContae an Chláir"
corruptNihilist me too bro
I think it has two names
corruptNihilist ya
My teacher put this on in school and I hunted down the video
Is náireach an scéal é nár fhoghlaim mise an t-amhrán so sa bhunscoil :(
Cruthúnas atá ann ar an neamhshuim á cur ar an nGaelainn san oideachas
Is maith loim an sceal agus an stiúideo beochan.
Ach cén fáth go raibh an mháthair ag iompar clainne?
Níl a fhios agam
Mar tá sé :)
There Was One Song And It Was In This Series… It Was Something To Do With A Young Woman Marrying An Older Man And She Didn't Want Him?… What's It Called? :-\
Cailleach an Airgid. It's on UA-cam. I just discovered it yesterday. It is AWESOME!
Oh, no, wait, that's probably not the one you're after. Still awesome, though.
Might have been dulaman?
@@CailinRuaAnChead isn't 'Dulaman' about harvesting seaweed, from the yellow cliffs (na binne bui)? The best in all of Ireland (se b'fhearr ar bhí in Éireann)? Excuse my horrible Irish! Lol! You maybe are thinking of 'Beidh Aonach Amarach' which Altan's recorded...isn't this video with Muireann singing a version of that song? It's about a fair in Co Clare, and the girl likes an older guy, but her mother won't let her go.
Other than Cailleach an Airgid the only one on this DVD that comes close is Bean Páidín
🌷Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ ❤️🍀
does anyone know that Irish song about a spider’s funeral?
Yeah, it's called An Damhan Alla. Look up Declan O'Rourke's version
ceann maith
Foirfe
this means were all Irish write
amber Irish girl white I assume? No sun at all here
im irish myself Ya we are all pale because we get lots of rain in Ireland and when we go on holiday to get sun we don't tan we burn 😞😞😞
no not all irish girls are white ...
Náisiúnaí na hÉireann untrue. ireland isn’t defined by melanin content, and i’d much rather a black irish person be on this island than a bigot. i also think you forget, every person on this island is an “invader” or “foreigner”. all our ancestors came here during the ancient migrations.
jane marlborough Why would you like to get a tan? I heard if you’re white your at risk of getting skin cancer unlike people of another race who don’t have a problem with it. I’m not being mean that’s just something I heard.
I don’t get the story they’re trying to tell, or maybe I do and it’s just boring
It seems to be about a little lady growing up
You kinda have to speak Irish. The little girl keeps annoying her mother to allow her to go to a fair, because she's madly in love with the young shoemaker who works there there. The exasperated mother keeps telling her she's not old enough yet, she'll have to wait til she's 13, so the little girl runs away, and obviously gets lost. It's just a song about childhood/parenthood, really.
