      I think it's more of a pre modern man's retelling the story of earth. Just kind of didn't understand what was happening. Like the final bit I'd describe as the higgs feilds collapsing and the physics of earth changing. Before that I think it's the plant like creatures was a type of animal (I hypothesize crab or other crustacean) using plant material as a type of clothing. This would hypothetically make living under a uv riddled earth before ozone layer developed possible. Etc

    I really enjoy how this universe is inspired by the myths of old. It does feel like it was build from patchworking dozens of different accounts, something not easy for a single author, and that it's more concerned in giving a dream-like experience than accurately describing what happened. But, even so, it was still informed by current scientific knowledge and, in my opinion, it gives a good possibility of what would happen if our pre-modern ancestors (or just their pre-modern mindset) could integrate our current science into their myths and legends.

    • @calinguga
      @calinguga 2 роки тому +3

      i don't know, i didn't like it personally, in contrast to most work featured on this channel. patchwork is a good word.
      i'm enjoying speculative biology per se, based on science; this not only had nothing to do with science but didn't make any sense to me either. i find it's mostly "eons of weird stuff", then "everything changes without explanation", then "more eons of the new weird stuff", and it all goes on for way too long imo.
      the fact that it's so long-winded and twisty and dreamlike is perhaps akin to an ancient creation myth, but it's precisely what i don't like about it. maybe the (understandably) very succint presentation made it worse.

      It hurts your brain because it really isn't something you consume as if it was a science, it's more or less a story that you should take for face value and not mind the terms like "dreams". In reality even our sciences are very much blurred when it comes to our existence. For example, where did the ball of gas from the bigbang theory come from? This is just more or less an alternate reality where the big bang theory didn't create the universe that we werent meant to understand

    Out of the various world youve shared on this channel, this one definitely sticks with me. It foregoes trying to "scientifically explain" the alien world, just jumps right in! With the all encompassing concept of it, to the genuine creativity of the designs and the folkloric artstyle, to the depth that each era has. It also kind of bring to light like how on our Earth, with different eras comes different kinds of life forms that live in an entire different version of Earth, all ultimately being footnotes in Earth's existence, building upon another. All the stuff here is great, but the ideas that stick with me were the Titans, tethered to the depths, bring life with their dream beings, and the abstract End with the remaining humus creature, pondering in the void with the abstract beings. Also I genuinely did not expect humans to appear, SUCH a plot twist for me! I would love to have the concepts in printed form, but awesome to see it shared online.

      the hardest part is just forcing yourself to sit down and start writing/drawing etc. once you do that the rest will follow naturally, but there won’t ever be a perfect time for it either, there’ll always be some kind of obstacle or situation getting in the way so you just have to take whatever gap you can find in your day and make something, anything is better than nothing. believe in your vision and do it even if just for yourself so you can enjoy seeing your ideas come to life, good luck

Humans are less that 1% of what's going on in the Universe. Guy doesn't have a wiki page. He deserves one.

    of all of the speculative biology works ive seen, this one by far has to be my favorite. i love the artstyle and chronological style. i love the various creatures throughout. its so imaginative and wonderous. it also manages to tell tales of a cycle of death and rebirth of civilization in a non depressing manner, which i personally very much enjoy. my favorite era has to be either green moon, ancients era, or the age of rust. however im also a major fan of how modern and urban the maze age is.

    The art styles are remind me of Amanita Design's games (Samorost, Machinarium, etc) and Studio Ghibli's stranger, surreal sci-fi works like Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky. Some aspects even remind me of the Legend of Zelda games (space whales of dreams remind me of the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening). I would love to see it developed further, even if this is more fantastical than scientific.

      I have to agree with you on that. The story in this video is err....for lack of better words "messy". It starts with a tree that's growing from earth and into space.....that instantly turned me off from the rest of the video cos I knew everything after that moment was just gonna be made up stuff and my first thought was "please explain the science behind that so we can have a better understanding of how this world or reality operates" but no, it instantly goes into cosmic wanders and those come without explanation or reason as well, then says they control "dream magic" without at least explaining what the hell "dream magic" is or what that even means.

    I don’t know if this would be up your alley but could you do one of these on the robotic animals of horizon: zero dawn. The story is basically that humanity created a nano machine bio weapon that self replicated by consuming biological matter. To preserve the remaining flora, fauna, and humanity, they built giant bunkers like arks governed by ai set to start trying to recolonize the planet with plants and animals after the nanomachimes die off in a couple hundred years. The ai’s use machines based off of biological animals from the present and the past, but with some evolutions and machanical body part for increased efficiency. I think it is an interesting take on how an ecosystem could coexist with nature and machine.

    My theory is that Mr Time, the being that is the last thing on Earth, shown at 19:04, is in fact the same kind of being as the Wanderers that first brought the moon to life.
    It has a similar cosmic pattern on its body, and fits the description given to the wanderers, as it too is a vestige of a lost civilization.
    To me, Mr Time is a sign that even if the Earth is dead, the cycle of life will still continue somewhere else when Mr Time and any other new Wanderers find another planet to seed life with.

    Not at all claiming that one is copying the other, but I find it interesting how similar the story of humanity emerging is to that of the Bigfoot civilization from the SCP universe is. They both had humans as a lesser race that engaged in warfare against a massively technologically superior species that makes use of bio engineered machinery. Not a terribly uncommon trope I suppose.
