Interesting detail: the young Brillo might've chosen the exile 'cause it has an elements of a dead sharks in its exoskeleton, meaning that he kills those predators which are despised and hated by the calf
29:02 I've never seen an octopus facepalm before... "Ay-yi-yi... you've finally gone soft, you melancholic old fool... I SUPPOSE I'll go help the kid..." The whales and their assorted companions are wonderful, a perfect mix of realism and expressive features.
A beautiful speculative evolution experience. I was hesitant since it was another "alien" world where evolution played exactly the same as on Earth, but the explanation was perfect. I would love to see more proyects based on human made panspermia
Well, all Seed World are panspermia, just that the targeted introduced organisms are multicellular ones and not unicellular. Most Seed World are human-made, but some like Serina : The World of Bird aren't.
Symbiotic whales, I love that, and I also didn't expect the story to be so detailed and intimate unlike most spec evo projects where its only the science and rarely of individuals and characters
The idea of a panspermic earth just gave me a ton of ideas. Now that I think about it, it's quite the under-utilized trope in science fiction! I've used your link to download the game. Both you and the creator are such brilliant creators. Thank you!
If you’re interested in a panspermic science fiction book, I’d recommend Children of Time. It tells a story of how spiders seeded from Earth onto another planet formed into an intelligent civilization. So as long as you’re not arachnophobic, it’s a great read!
@@cameios That's such a great book! I would also highly recommend it....and just on a bonus science fiction tip, Iain M Banks's "the culture" series is phenomenal.
Your probably already know this one, but i heavily suggest "Serina: A Natural History of the World of Birds". It's online for free at its own webside. The premise of this work: "What if we left domestic caranies (and guppies) alone on an earth- like moon for 270+ million years?"
I love the subtle lore the game gives about the state of humanity. Based on my reading, humanity seems to have been taken under the wing of some greater alien society. During the drone section it talks about how they were made for a war that ended up not happening against some new presence.
@BryleMilan idk, during the light drone section it talks about a "Pacification War", where an international coalition declares an intention to "resist", before capitulation was offered to avoid a land invasion or orbital bombardment. The directed panspermia of the lightyears-away "sister planets" to earth are stated to be intentionally seeded, and I don't personally believe this seeding was done by humans just because of how long it would take for such unique life to evolve, even from pre-existing earth life. During the tail end of the game, the vorpix octopi are stated to be "the only long lived cephalopod that have not been culled". It seems odd to me that humans would do this culling given the respect for not interfering in nature the researchers have. I personally believe that these planets were at some point in the distant past seeded from earth stock by an alien group with much more advanced technology, and when they came back to earth and demanded subservience, these were the "Pacification Wars", and they were quickly stopped to avoid earth being devastated. For some as of yet unknown reason, they are also the ones culling long-lived intelligent octopi. I could be wrong, this is only the first chapter of course, but that's my reading of all this.
I loved this! It was so beautiful and creative and I can’t believe it’s free on Steam. I think it represents trauma and depression with him being terrified to socialize and only being able to with other young who communicate to him first.
I saw a video on South Scrimshaw by another UA-camr and I hoped you covered it. I love how the young whale eventually bonds with what is believed to be a "shark hunter", which perhaps is why the young whale is so friendly.
This Brillo Whale reminds me of Scott Westerfield Leviathan. In the novel, the titular character is an incredibly massive living airship resembling a chimeric whale with tiny creatures living with/on/in it
that dead whale actually had an interesting bit, if others havent discovered it already ill explain what it is so be warned of spoilers. so there is a tracker thing in that bundle of plants, i think it was the first tracker on one of the whales (not sure if intentional) from the first encounter humans had with the species. of what i can recall there were some humans that went out on i think a boat right before a storm or something. there was issues with the boat or something and when the rescue team finally found them they were on top of something, a whale. the whale seams to have been helping them (like some whales irl do, i think mainly hump backs will help other species (not just humans) by kindof guarding them from predicters)

Could be either a scenario where the Whales have developed a symbiotic relationship with the plants, to maybe inhance boyency, or, could be similar to how barnicals grow on Wales but, don't cause so much of an issue that the species hasn't adapted around it

I have been waiting for this for so long
Simply Beautiful
Nice to see this visual novel/documentary getting more and more recognition
damn I got tears when the stone mother adopted the calf
Very intersting project, tho I think a bit too much of this seemed to humanize the animals in a bit too human ways. I'm not saying they can't be intelligent but like that octopus literally face palmed
23:37 I imagine him talking to the calf like a door-to-door salesman selling insureance.
I’ve seen this like twice but this is my favorite story, this got me into your channel I wish there was more already
The pure idea of being a whale and "Dude you can have any cool camouflage you want" is so cool
I saw another youtuber covering this and I'm so glad you checked it out. Seems right up your alley.
Also it's a great "documentary". Hopefully the author releases more chapters soon
omg this story is so amazingly good like, its on an emotional level one of the best stories read here and the creativity of the biology is so well suited to narative as well as just sheer originality and complexity.
Me and the boys heading here to watch the new curious archive video.
The animal/plant symbiosis reminds me of sker buffaloes from Kong Skull Island
Not just sker bufallo, spore mantis, leafwing, mother longlegs and grass hedgehog. Just lot of animals in kong skull island(all what i have mentioned here)has symbiosis with plant
Absolutely Brilliant, and I kind of teared up at our calf bonding with the exile.
