Patch 4.5 Billion (Released: 21 February 2023) - Nerfed dunkleosteus size by 50% - Nerfed dunkleosteus health by 50% - Added goldfish skin to dunkleosteus
The funniest part, imo, is that with the way its body proportions are set up now it is much more akin to fish like a largemouth bass in terms of proportions. That being said, with proportions like that, along with the new reconstructions could show us that their bite force was actually stronger due to having more muscles focused solely on their head.
we're only average 5.5-6ft (180cm), ain't no way a dunkleosteus can't eat entire, or they can just hang us at the branch for tomorrow bruh Edit: I'm just typo, I mean the most tallest person is probably at 8ft. Wahh, now I can rest in peace..
@@EeveelutionStorm around 20 years ago palaeontologists believed that the known fossils of Liopleurodon were from juveniles, leading them to believe that adult specimens would be around 20-25 meters long. After new studies it was revealed that the "juvenile" specimen, was actually an adult individual, with more reasonable estimates of 7 meters. This year (last week) new studies on Dunkleosteus reduced its size estimates from around 6-10 meters to 3-4 meters long.
@@EeveelutionStorm Not necessarily. Also, Liopleurodon and Dunkleosteus aren't dinosaurs. Studies show that most large theropods were much larger than previously thougth (in animals, size is determined by weight/mass). Tyrannosaurus for example was thougth to reach about 7 tonnes in the 90s and early 2000s, but we now know that it could reach up to 10 tonnes. Palaeontology is an ever changing science. The more we discover, the more we know about these animals. And some things can change. The most important thing to remember, is that palaeontology is not guess work. Palaeontologist study alot to try to understand these magnificent animals. Sometimes, mistakes are made, when there's not enough evidence to clearly understand how the animal look.
@@chingyik123 The largest complete specimen was estimated at 3.6 by the paper. An isolated jaw was estimated to have belonged to a 4.1 metre individual. The estimate you are using seems to be the one by Fabio Alejandro using largely the same body as the paper but with a tail length based on Coccosteus and Amazichthys, which I personally agree with. Both of the previously stated specimens belong to D. terreli. There are far more (around ten I believe) species of Dunkleosteus, including the metre long D. Raveri
For anyone that's seen the "Ed, Edd n Eddy" episode with the rocket car, that's all I could think of with Dunkle's new body. Ed: It's too small. Edd: 'Small? Please, Ed. It's compact.' Seriously though, this is an intriguing new fact.
best part is, even though dunkles size has been reduced, bite force estimates have stayed the same. a 4 meter long dunkle has the same bite force as a 10 meter long one.
Funny thing is, it actually may have increased. Less length=less muscles in the rear of the animal, and more room to reinforce the front. Based on the new model, estimates show their biteforce may be up to 20% stronger
Paleontology is an… interesting science. It can be amazing and enlightening, but then you also have stuff like this, lol. It’s gonna take a while to get used to a dwarf Dunkleosteus (although 13 ft. is still pretty large), but I’ll take scientific accuracy any day.
Yeah twice the length of the average adult height, an apex predator, an incredibly strong bite, self sharpening blades of bone and dentine. That sure sounds pet friendly.
I find it funny how he can have a humor like this one video but then in the next he’s like “this is one the most dangerous dinosaurs on the planet” and then goes on to thoroughly explain how it could rip you to shreds. 😂
It’s pretty surprising seeing this change, since I wasn’t expecting it at all. But Regardless of the size change or how its depictions have changed, the Dunkleosteus is still one of my favorite marine creatures of prehistory/all time. It was still a predatory fish with a powerful bite force, something that you would not want to come across in the ocean.
The sharpedo one got me 💀💀💀 and also this is my first video watching you laugh and I love it man 😁. Keep up the dino entertainment man your doing great!!!
Such mixed reactions and portrayal of excitement in the voice of the narrator...!!! Seems like...an episode of Tom and Jerry...where both have accomplished a space mission or an underwater expedition in search of the specimen
First the Liopleurodon, now the Dunkleosteus. Why must I still live to see my favourite aquatic marine predators get shrunk from their Walking With sizes?! Why am I still here? Just to suffer?
To people who think Dunkleosteus is no longer OP, I think we should be reminded that this is now Less Longer, which is harder to hit. And what if it's gonna be faster? If not, it can still Bite you through Like Scissors, and being Smaller is way harder to spot far or dark or if it's camouflaging or something. Yes I know it ain't smart, but there are also people that's less smarter than a Goldfish.
Idk why, but I kind of like this version of dunk more, I mean just the thought of a small chunky fish being this vicious prehistoric predator is amazing
Patch 4.5 Billion

@@TheDinoFax I wonder if other animals lived in the Devonian (I think that’s where dunk lived) and were able to fight or even hunt it

They did bro dirty with the goldfish skin💀🤣🤣🤣
I love that our dino guy went from his normal teaching tone to a relaxed giggly guss and I am here for it
A freaking goldfish 💀👍 Yeah, we all know he did him dirty for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)ᶠᵒʳ ʳᵉᵃˡ

@seadoggo567 Bonjour
Bro went from badass fish that can bite your head off to an oversized chiwawa that bites ur ankles
Chiwawa’s gonna have a much harder time amputating your limbs though 👀 Dunk still has that going for it
I mean it’s still a giant
Look at it it’s large shark size
It would still be able to bite your head off.
it a big piranha that gonna bite your little fingers while you sleeping because you misbehaved

No. 3.6 metres (largest complete specimen) is far from small enough to fit in a tyrannosaurus's jaws.
Even before the shrink there was a species of dunk, D. raveri, that was a metre in length.
