We did another timing chain replacement this time with some more accessories. Water pump, thermostat, coolant pipe, few gaskets, engine mounts and DSG service. Owner bought this car as non runner without gearbox in the car. Also needed small TLC when it comes to oil leaks and carbon build up on the valves This S4 is MRC tuned, with upgraded pulleys , supercharger belt and also have separate cooling system for supercharger to keep the temperatures down. Unfortunately very shortly after Elijash collected his S4 he contacted us with a coolant leak and power steering issue. We collect the car on our cost to take it back under warranty. Very quick inspection was done and we found loads of coolant in the V underneath the supercharger. After a longer drive it starts leaking out on the drive belt which causes power steering to slip on the drive belt. So we had to remove the Supercharger and find a damaged O ring from one of the coolant pipes above the PCV. Everything was done under warranty and did not cost the customer any more expenses .

Watching this brought memories of me replacing oil separator under charger. I put it all together filled with coolant. And in a box I find the heat shield that goes between the charger and oil separator. Had to take it all apart.

Great content, I could watch this for hours. I wish I could find such a reputable, professional and knowledgeable shop that's also reasonably priced here in US, New York. I'd get back into B8/8.5 S4/S5 - used to love my B8 apr stage 2 dual pulley and manual S4. A question, did you ever have to deal with or repair rear sport diff with torque vectoring on any of these s4/5's and other Audi's that have it? That was my biggest fear when I had mine since I heard it's a non serviceable item and you have to swap the whole unit if it breaks.

Just a question have you ever replaced a rear coil spring on a 2015 Audi A4 saloon? There’s no video on UA-cam to show the repair… I was told it’s a bit of a pig of a job because you have to drop the rear cross member on one side to get the spring out and even at that it’s very difficult,, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Eric.

Im not a fan of their current platform mounting timing components on the rear of the engine. extremely labor intensive. whish they bring it back up front. for now thats why i like the smaller 2.0s way easier to work on and maintain in my Opinion. lol. cheers

These guys are rewarded in labor by dropping the motor out it’s a huge time savings.
Oh and Audi engineers if you could please start putting your timing gear back on the front of your V motors. I know it won’t happen but one can wish.

What was the reason for changing the Chains ? I know that 3.0 have some chain rattle during a cold start after 2-3 days of sitting. There is a TSB about that. Tough audi mentioned that even though there is a rattle for 1 sec, this doesn't affect the engine. There is a revised version of the tensioners.

This is a very common issue with all Audi FSI/TFSI motors, its not the chains, the plastic guides deteriorate and break after 8-12 years. This can lead to the cams skipping and pistons colliding with the valves. Wish they kept the timing belts.

An Audi motor pissing coolant and oil from every seam, a routine engine out maintenance at the 100k mark to replace $1500 of failed timing tensioners, every single upper cylinder o ring and cam girdle seal. German engineering like clock work, it fails without fail. Might as well replace the fuel pump, pcv and injectors as they go at about 120k
