Hey. I'm a resident of point Roberts. Been here for 11 years. There's alot of correct info you've given, but you need to do an updated video now. Nenas was an illegally operated food venue. You need to let people know of the impossibility of crossing into Canada if you have a DUI on your record. The marina restaurant WAS breakwaters at that time. Closed then reopened to a revived restaurant from long ago. I think I might have briefly met you when you visited

Thanks for the comments and great suggestion. I definitely want to start redoing some of my past videos with updated information. Because Point Roberts videos get so many viewings, I want to make sure the information is as accurate as possible. I currently have a buyer looking for acreage to buy in Point Roberts, so maybe the next time I am visiting we could meet for coffee? Feel free to send me a direct message.

Is it hard to build on a lot in PR? Would a manufactured home be easier? It seems like it could be hard to get builders there given the border crossings.

Most of the lots n Point Roberts require their own well and septic, except for a few vacant lots near the marina that are connected to the marina's water and sewer system. It is no more difficult to build in Point Roberts, than anywhere in mainland Whatcom County. But you are correct it can be more expensive to bring materials and contractors over. But people do it frequently. Where do you live currently?

Thanks for your reply. My wife and I live in the Mid-Atlantic, and have discussed retiring in the PNW -- maybe not for another 8-10 years though. We are Canadians and I grew up in BC, so the idea of living in PR is appealing. If we do get serious about exploring this I will be sure to contact you.@@livinginbellinghamwashington

Hi i am also consider to move to Point Robert. I don't have issue for living on general. But i have a question is, on the daily life, can i do the grocery shopping in Canda and bring all the stuff back to Point Robert. That means i need to bring all fresh vegetable and meat across the border. Thanks

According to the DHS website: "All agriculture items must be declared and are subject to inspection by a CBP Agriculture Specialist at ports of entry to ensure they are free of plant pests and foreign animal diseases. Prohibited or restricted items may include meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, seeds, soil and products made from animal or plant materials."
So basically a trip to the grocery store could involve filling out paperwork and getting permission from a government bureaucrat. Living there sounds inconvenient on so many levels.

Many people buy groceries in either Canada or the US and take them back to their respective resident country. There are restrictions on certain types of raw vegetables and unprocessed meats. But the borders are relatively understanding if you are living in point Roberts.

Think 2020. UA-cam does not like that word being used and it will often times penalize those videos if that word is discussed. They’re worried about fake news.

I'll be staying in Point Roberts in a few weeks. Going to visit the Vancouver area & came across this area. (It was a little cheaper of a stay) but so far from the research I've done, it seems like a pleasant city & has a fascinating story behind it.

I’m glad you found Point Roberts! It is so close to Vancouver and yes, I presume it would be cheaper to stay there. What brings you to the area?

Dual citizen living in Pt. Roberts and working in Canada sounds great but what about health care? I wouldn't be entitled to B.C. healthcare because I would be considered a U.S. resident. I wouldn't get healthcare through my Canadian employer because that's not a thing in Canada due to Universal Healthcare. So now I need to be rushed to the E.R., I'm a Canadian citizen (dual), but not living in Canada which means I'm not entitled to Canadian healthcare, but the closest hospital is in Canada, and now i'm being billed by Canada to my Obamacare insurance which would it even cover "foreign" hospital stays. NO Forrest... RUUUUUNNNNNN. Nothing but headaches trying to live in Point Roberts unless maybe you're retired but again, the hospital thing...

Thank you for sharing your experiences. This is a common question and I am definitely not an expert to comment on it. I know healthcare can be a tricky thing to navigate these days.
