- Just like any other Malaysians, we admire Honda's lineup of Type Rs. Honda has managed to create a safe haven for the FWD fans all over the globe with the existence of their hatchback, the Civic.
However, it all changed when Honda introduced a sedan, bearing the Civic Type R badge. And much to our surprise, Malaysia was the only country out of Japan to receive the fabled FD2R.
For this particular FD2R, we take ourselves back to the year 2007, experiencing what was it like to drive a stock Honda Civic Type R back then.

Ironic I almost bought one of these last week but I noticed for a fair priced FD2 I could get an immaculate condition Integra so I pulled the trigger on a DC5 ITR last night. I do love the FD2 still though. It’s the ultimate N/A Type R variant aside from the Mugen RR FD2

NoEqual! please try to find a CL7R in Malaysia to review. The stock examples are nice, but a modified Euro R is the main event! The type R Accords really don't get as much love or attention from anyone outside the owners. Its reviewers like you who can review one and make it better known to the Honda Community!

Mine is riding on tein flex z now, as the stock suspension are aging and getting too bouncy. But still able hits fast corner with the teins

FD2R is the last N/A type R and we're not sold in Europe. Instead Honda produced the FN2 for the Europe market at the same time, also based on the 8th gen civic, but with 2doors and a hatch. The FK8 is the first civic type R that was released worldwide. And now the new FL5 is also released worldwide.
You guys need review on FK2R , Honda make it to beat the Renault In Nurburgring and follow by FK8R.
If I drink everytime he says 'FD2R' I'll die of alcohol poisoning XD. Jokes aside, the content delivery aspiration is there, just a little tweeking on the hardware side is needed. Great attempt!

Any difference between the FD2R and the RR ?
The cosmetic and engine tune of course..
alot of difference bro , lightweight , engine capacity
Alot more power and better handling
Mugen tuned the motor further to increase output from 225ps to 240ps. They also had weight reduction via forged wheels, seats and further removal of sound deadening as well as CF parts to decrease weight by 15kg. Suspension was changed to Mugen (damper valving + spring rates) and additional bracing. Zeroto100 has a nice video comparing the FD2R + FN2R + RR in acceleration from a while ago.

They both have a similar chassis and rear suspension. But a true Type R is naturally aspirated. That K20A is perfection, the best 2 liter engine of all time.The FD2 is the best Civic Type R ever.
