What is Feminism?

History or Background:
Feminism has a long and complex history that dates back centuries. However, in modern times, the feminist movement emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as women began to organize and campaign for their rights. The first wave of feminism focused primarily on women's suffrage and legal rights, and led to the passage of many important laws and reforms. The second wave emerged in the 1960s and 1970s, and focused on social and cultural issues such as reproductive rights, gender roles, and sexual liberation. The third wave emerged in the 1990s, and sought to address issues of diversity, intersectionality, and the experiences of women of color and other marginalized groups.
