Dialectical Materialism and Historical materialism
DM shows how People's thoughts, characters and actions are shaped by the conditions in the world around them, the material world. ... Historical materialism extends the principles of dialectical materialism to the study of society and its history.
Historical materialism rests on a foundation of dialectical materialism, in which matter is considered primary and ideas, thought, and consciousness are secondary, i.e. consciousness and human ideas about the universe result from material conditions rather than vice versa.

A little bit confusion is here. One is idealism. The idealist thinks that ideas were already there before the society and we stablish our society acoording to those ideas, while the second part says that the first thing was matter/ material (society) and according to those material we built our ideas. It is right that these two terms are like vise versa. Thanks

Firstly it's "Samuel Taylor Coleridge". Secondly, he was born in 1772 while Marx was born in 1818.
ST Coleridge was not "supporting" Marx. His theory of imagination is related with Romanticism. But yes you can deduce similar grounds in their views.
