From 2:27-2:41, instead of Top you put To. Those regiments went through A LOT. They earned that final right at Appomattox. It was nice Col. Welcher redeemed himself at his death. The fact that Chamberlain died of his Petersburg wound 50 years years later is a pure miracle. You can definitely say it was God's way of saying "Thank you for your service". Between his leadership and bayonet charge at Little Round Top and able leadership he displayed through 1864-65 from brigade to division command, he earned it! I completely concur with Sheridan's statement of "Generals should lead from the front", it was what generals such as Rosecrans, Reynolds, Kearney, Rommel, Allen, Roosevelt Jr. and others did. If one thing is to be learned from Warren's example, it's that engineers are not always the best choice to command an infantry force. He was one of those generals who had a mixed record. Such facts from history must be remembered.
You have the WRONG 5th corps commander. Porter was not at Gettysburg. Who is in charge of this presentation? You need someone who knows BASIC HISTORY of the war.
Interesting story line, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
