This recording is terrific because it allows people to hear how great and special her voice was in her younger years. You have the sense she could do anything with it. The effect she has on a listener is not quite like any other.
Sorry I have to dissagree some years after as her voice got more mature and with this just little edge not so childish is when she become the great great Whitney and is then when she showed her real potential covering all her register including the low range is when she could really do what ever she wanted with tha marvelous gift
This is definitely Whitney. A key factor is when she first started doing this song on "The Greatest Love"tour, she did the song before we heard the completed, recorded version. In the live chorus, before the "Whitney" release, she always said "Didn't we almost have it all, when loving you made life worth living", instead of "when love was all we had worth giving", which is on the completed, recorded version of the song. That lyric did not change until the album was released. What we hear here, is the earliest, "demo" version of the song, before it was given to the world.
I had the very distinct pleasure of hearing Ms.Whitney Houston, in the early part of 1986 @The Boston Music Hall, sitting only several feet away center stage front! She was flawless, and certainly above reproach! As I remember the 1st of many times listening to her live in concert, its still sends shivers up and down my spine, on how wonderfully magnificent an entertainer she truly is! That very memory is etched forever in my mind! I truly ♥♥♥♥ & miss you more each day! Thank you Ms. Whitney!
I've heard Whitney's performances and speaking voice from literally every single era, but this sounds so completely different! I can't believe how delicate and vibrant she sounds here! Almost like a different person, even compared to '87
Yeah she sounded so young here! Almost like a teenager. Yet her vocals on the second album definitely sounded deeper and more mature even though they were recorded a few months later
When I hear Clive Davis talk about the first time he heard Whitney singing in her Mother's act at a club called sweet waters. The tingles he felt go down his spine as she sang. That is what I experienced as I listen to this. It was Breathtaking. I don't go back and forth debating with anyone over who was the greatest vocalist. No one can change my opinion. This lady was a wonder.
I mean.... GEEZ!!! 4:16-4:20 and 5:31-5:33 OMG. That ring!!! One syllable such power and the next one syrupy sweet. The contrast in dynamics by one syllable---- insane!!! The power and clarity and just no words to accurately describe and convey what we're hearing. Astounding live performance!!! Her voice goes straight to the soul! GOD definitely gave her a unique one in many lifetimes voice! 😍❣️❤️😩
Its sooo funny that people are questioning if this is young Whitney? LISTEN! Her inflections and breathing is classic Whitney... She was probably 23-24 yrs old.. She would own this song by the time is was WHITNEY HOUSTON. She's young here, she needed time to learn how to make love and put today's Whit on this track. Regardless, this is awesome and try Whitney; please Believe folks.. It sounds like angels!! Only Whitney!!! RIP :( Jesus Luvs all of you's NO MATTER WHAT!! )
mainotre there shouldn't even be any doubt it was WH... That's what made her unique... She knew how to transcends the upcoming decades with different vocals the epitome being The Bodyguard.
Yeah this is clearly a very young Whitney on her first tour. To me she didn’t become WHITNEY until 1988 or so, by that point her voice had settled into sounding like a powerful woman and her confidence on stage was blossoming
for those who still think that isn't Whitney singing: please listen from 4:25 to 4:35, and you can hear clearly/nearly the way she used to sing this song
Actually believe it or not this was the clarity of her voice at that age. She was considered a soprano 1. Her voice got deeper and richer as she got older and habits took their form.
Many thanks to you for posting! Whitney was simply the greatest to ever do it. Most people today only know her for her sad decline, but at her peak she was a beast and her talent can never and will never be denied. I saw her in concert twice and her studio albums do her absolutely NO justice. Only a select few vocalists can stand still on a stage, no ass and tits hanging out, no stage lights, no dancers just their VOICE and leave you entertained and breathless. Nippy was one of those few. I'm glad she had the time she did on this earth, she truly blessed us with something we will never see or hear again. RIP
Everyone and everything that was in whitneys presence in all her 80s concerts are blessed. I have loved this woman and her voice all of my life. My biggest inspiration
i heard people say that whitney changed her voice to be more "soulful" and powerful.. Now I see why. Her soprano voice is too classically beautiful, not the best thing for conveying emotions as those in this song. But this only reaffirms my belief that she truly had the voice of the century.
She never “changed” her voice to be soulful. Lol she came up singing in the baptist church. Soul is literally in her dna and how she’s always sang. She was just able to manipulate her voice to sound however she wanted it to. She has so many layers and textures to her voice that you can’t classify it as one thing. Although she did make a conscious effort to sing more R&B/Soul records after the 2nd album.
Thank you for putting this out there! I didn't think it would move me so... But hearing Whitney's live performances , one has to agree , God gave this woman one of the most beautiful voices we will ever hear in our lifetime. R.I.P. Whitney and Thank you for " The Voice".
Herald Orome THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell people seem to forget this right here is un technical Whitney, meaning she’s gonna play with her voice while singing. We have yet to have performance released such as showcases “ the performances your label have you do for executives & upper people in Hollywood..
It sounds like Whitney to me. I'm shocked sometimes when I listen back to tapes from when I was 16 or 18. I am 38 now. Though I still sing my voice is clearly different. I'll listen to my speaking voice from then too and it was higher, sweeter. Miss her.
I believe Whitney was truly gifted from God!! You can see her growth from here to the day Jesus called her home! She was just stunning; you could "feel the LOVE" from her music, her way. Was she perfect? No, there is only one that is perfect and that is Jesus. Whitney most definitely knew her Saviour!!! Yes, she battled with addiction, so do MILLIONS of people; let God be the judge!! ......can't wait to meet you there!!
WAY BEFORE THE HER OTHER BIG HITS...THIS IS STILL ONE OF MY TOP FAVORITES FROM HER...WATCH HER LIVE PERFORMANCE WITH A LEATHER JACKET SHE WENT TO CHURCH ON DAT ONE🎉❤
the only talent of such class in the mass industry and not only. Wished so much we could hear her precious talent on more cds while she still had this treasury
God clearly made her for singing. There is just no denying that fact. Even her tone has a supernatural sound, unlike anything I have ever heard. Sam Cooke also had a supernatural sound.
agree... die hardfans don't even need to be told when and if her voice got altered... we even know the sound she did breathing, and she never was this high pitched
@cerberusdest The studio version of All At Once is actually more of a pop hit, whereas the live version in this tour was better interpreted and delivered. The term 'souful' will depend of what you mean. Soulful is a term used to describe a song or a singer with some aspects of the Soul music or Jazz, but you also can refer this word to something expressive. I disagree that she changed her voice (check other concerts from this tour and you'll see).
@WhitneyElizabethH She kinda reminds me my mother. My mother has passed away in 2002, and me and my brothers always think she seemed like Whitney, :) Thanks for watching mate.
@DreamloverLambi1 Actually it's the quality of the audio that make she sounds like a girl. She already had woman tone in this era. Take the difference listening to the same tour in San Francisco. Now that the quality is better, you can see that her voice didn't sounded like girl.
Rickey Minor used to ask her if she wanted him to drop it an octave, and she always said "no." This was the beginning of her career when her voice was unblemished by too much cigarette smoke.
at 7:13 , Whitney improvises a diminished note in the melody that is usually not there, and the band improvises a passing chord that is usually not there, it is awesome how it resolves back to the first chord in the progression. It is achingly beautiful and I wish it wasn’t only a one time thing. Even in all the live version I’ve heard, they never did it again. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? It must have been the band following Whitney, or Whitney following the band, just one of those magic musical miracles that only happens in the moment when musicians are feeling the spirit, and “you can never get it back exactly the same way,” as Anita Baker put it!
This recording is terrific because it allows people to hear how great and special her voice was in her younger years. You have the sense she could do anything with it. The effect she has on a listener is not quite like any other.

her softer upper register sounds exceptional. she had a most glorious voice! doing the most!

Monsieur PAAP what a lucky, lucky person!
Lucky you.
Wow she sounded so young. What a long road she had to travel from 1986 to get to I Will Always Love You. Whitney worked very hard for many years.
I've heard Whitney's performances and speaking voice from literally every single era, but this sounds so completely different! I can't believe how delicate and vibrant she sounds here! Almost like a different person, even compared to '87
Yeah she sounded so young here! Almost like a teenager. Yet her vocals on the second album definitely sounded deeper and more mature even though they were recorded a few months later
she sounds angelic here
@@bryanalstoncoxingshe does sound like a teenager here. I wonder if the audio was changed a bit
she sings the same song a million ways and yet she never fails to mesmerize, a million times more... :)
Truly
I love Whitney's vocals on this song!

She really is "THE VOICE" this just sealed it for me. Wow....she just floored me with this performance.

Simply The Best Singer of all Time!! I miss you Whitney!!

Considered?she's a high soprano 1982 thoughout mid 1992
Whitney's voice is do sublime, takes you to another place. RIP Whitney and thank you.
I agree.
AMEN🙏🙏🙏😭😭💗💗🎼🎵🎶

karma Peters Your words are eloquent and I appreciate them. Miss Whitneys headvoice here is exquisite
karma Peters yep. Just a few can, such as her cuz Dionne WARWICK!
I wish I was as lucky as your.
Everyone and everything that was in whitneys presence in all her 80s concerts are blessed. I have loved this woman and her voice all of my life. My biggest inspiration
Me too.
Tiny and powerful as the voice sounds you still see the Whitney through every single note.
This is a gem. I loved hearing this early recording.
Her voice sounds so strong and young love it !!!
Wow!!! Breath taking!!! Nobody has ever had that voice!!!
i heard people say that whitney changed her voice to be more "soulful" and powerful.. Now I see why. Her soprano voice is too classically beautiful, not the best thing for conveying emotions as those in this song. But this only reaffirms my belief that she truly had the voice of the century.
i think that happened without her choosing...cigarettes and weed...

Stupid I other way to describe this comment
She could deliver a song like no other!! Even at such a young age - just amazing!!
Her voice sounds too innocent and pure. I love it!!!

Beautiful, my favorite from Whitney...this version brings me to tears...
What a perfect performance
Painful knowing how sad Nippy was .If only she felt the love that we had for her.deep love!!
Man ! She can do everything with her voice ! What a talent she had ! My goodness , my soul left my body during this performance 🤯
Mine too I swear...I keep replaying.

Best performance of Didn't We Almost Have It All that she ever did.
+Martin Yates the best performance has to be saratoga springs...the actual video for the song!
i thnk that's the best vocal performance ever. whitney was absolutely at the top of her game then
@Herald Orome absolutely. There are too many that we don't have.
Herald Orome
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have yet to have performance released such as showcases “ the performances your label have you do for executives & upper people in Hollywood..
@Chris De jager that young girlish whitney was the best whitney...she did vocal acrobatics!!!
It sounds like Whitney to me. I'm shocked sometimes when I listen back to tapes from when I was 16 or 18. I am 38 now. Though I still sing my voice is clearly different. I'll listen to my speaking voice from then too and it was higher, sweeter. Miss her.
Absolutely incredible ♥️♥️♥️
perfectly lovely ... love this concert version of DWAHIA!

WAY BEFORE THE HER OTHER BIG HITS...THIS IS STILL ONE OF MY TOP FAVORITES FROM HER...WATCH HER LIVE PERFORMANCE WITH A LEATHER JACKET SHE WENT TO CHURCH ON DAT ONE🎉❤
7:32 - 7:37 very amazing and emotional
Just Beautiful!
I'm missing you Whit! The music stopped when you left here. Forever heartbroken over the loss of you.
I'm surprised Clive let her perform this prior to release
She did that a few times from 1985 to 1990
Maybe it was to gauge the reaction from the audience
Fantastic!!!
Love this song...
This shows that her voice overwhelms any other cover singer's version!
Hard to fathom she was only 23 at this time - she sang this song like was way older and had experienced it all - she was so believable when she sang!
The ride with you was worth the fall, Whitney. Love you!
thanks a lot for those rare and lovely pictures !!! i love them !!!
January 2020 here, who's still here like me?👋👍👏❤
@LoboAscuridad1 lol Actually the terrible quality of the audio made her voice sounded so infantile and stuffy.
Thanks for watching. :)
I miss her so much.
JUST BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!
Great! Loved the hair. the outfitt. She has always been superb in Fashion! Great job uploading this
Beautiful
2017 this song will be 3o Years Old! Millenials! deep check! You wouldn't know what a "Young" Whitney sounded like if the year was 2037!
thank's for this video...❤
Ela tem uma voz poderosa, magnifica.
Thank You For Sharing!!! SMH! MISS HER!!!
the only talent of such class in the mass industry and not only. Wished so much we could hear her precious talent on more cds while she still had this treasury

Whitney pure talent et bien sur pure classe.
Hermosa Whitney...
I love This!
U are 2 of the best from the nest wit we still love at you❤
I love this video. Thank you for sharing. :)
damn was her voice bright
her voice sounds like its floating
God clearly made her for singing. There is just no denying that fact. Even her tone has a supernatural sound, unlike anything I have ever heard. Sam Cooke also had a supernatural sound.
If you listen close you can hear the outline of the famous masterpiece live video from 1987 saratoga coming on in the performance of the same tune
agree... die hardfans don't even need to be told when and if her voice got altered... we even know the sound she did breathing, and she never was this high pitched

she sounds so young, I'm wondering if this was edited in a higher pitch
No. The speed is too high. 😭
this is her pitch.she sounded like this in church early in the morning.
This is very first soprano church Voice!
i just cant believe it coz all i know was she had this powerful voice...
as she sang "home" in "the griffin show"

more perfect than on her album, if it's possible...
2:33 was an angelic.
80s Whitney was a vocal monster.
6:40 that note gave me LIFE
but i thought that song wasn't written till 1987
Me too she was such a super soprano!
all sophomore album songs was recorded in 1986 maybe 85 too
this is definitely whitney, I believe they did something to her voice here though, Ive heard similar ones when shes singing I Am Changing
@MTCfan I'm glad you liked. Please share this video with your friends. :)
OMG she was so young here.
The best a voice do Word ♥️♥️🇧🇷🇧🇷
I miss you Whitney. Rest In Peace.

An octave?!?!? You mean a key or two?
Actually she smoked more than cigarettes
@@surasap2552 That is true, but cigarettes were the primary cause for her vocal decline.
@LoboAscuridad1 Only the pictures are in HD. The same concert she did in San Francisco and London, were with a high audio quality.

go to your audio device configuration software, -1 for the pitch (that's the original pitch and it is her voice) ..
