5029 'Nunney Castle' barks on 'The Torbay Express' - 04/08/13

- 5029 'Nunney Castle' was out and about again hauling her third Torbay Express and thankfully with all the rain we've been having she could do it alone, as the fire risk had virtually disappeared, meaning there would be no need for diesel assistance. I decided to head out on the train to see the run and my first port of call was Teignmouth Station, a location I haven't filmed at before but have always thought rather lovely for steam. Nunney is seen sweeping through nicely, sporting a proper Great Western headboard and on a full rake of 10 BR Mark 1s in Chocolate and Cream livery. If it wasn't for the modern signs and modern clothing etc it would be a very authentic 1950s scene. After this it was off to Paignton and Goodrington for a bit to see what's what and take a few photos, I didn't video any of the servicing as I had done all that the last time I was there. Now it's time to turn up the sound, as for the return run I decided to go to Torre Station, as Nunney could be heard climbing up the 1 in 56 gradient from Torquay the stopping service to Paignton had pulled in. Thankfully though for everyone and myself it cleared about 30 seconds before Nunney appeared, barking past us like nobody's business! The gradient levels out through Torre Station but afterwards the gradient starts again at 1 in 73 to Kingskerswell where the line then drops down into Newton Abbot.
A very good day out and thanks to Tom (BristolCastle) and Adam for the company. Also thanks to David for the lift to Torre.
Filmed on a Panasonic HDC-HS900 with a Pro Sound L92AA microphone.

Thanks very much John :) Yes it is a fair ol' climb from Torquay up to Kingskerswell, let's hope the box at Torre doesn't go the same way as the one at Dawlish.
Ta very much Liam :) No it certainly can't be beaten! :D
And Billy the draw hook is saying "please don't break me, please don't break me, please don't break me......"!
Thank you Bill :) You can't really match a Great Western engine when it comes to barking!
