Great album. I have it on vinyl. Saw him in concert, Birmingham U.K. He was fantastic & Tony Levin’s bass playing was phenomenal. I agree with much of what Pete says but I also like Love Can Heal. Panopticon is my favourite track though.

Greetings from the UK-England....When Americans call music "Art Rock" i shudder in anticipation of how much "Rock" is actually on the album ?...After being-virtually force fed-these songs by an old friend (who won't be a friend much longer at this rate) I have to say that sadly Peter Gabriel is just as pretentious, bland, beige, muso and boring as he was going right back to his debut solo album, his penchant for musical navel gazing and being innocuous would give Radiohead-another non Rock band-a run for their money.

A very good album! I like it

Can't say i was particularly impressed sorry

  • @Babaziba

This one is too mellow, no bombast to balance it. More edges have been sanded off on this album than in Steely Dan's entire catalog. Has Peter Gabriel invented "yacht prog"? I assume "Panopticon" is Sussudio's grandchild's name.

Thank you for the review. Sounds interesting but I'll pass; it comes in a Digipak, actually, worse a Digi sleeve.

Saw him in Cleveburg, Oh......outstanding show and performance! If you have a chance to see him---make sure you do....and yes, this album is REALLY great. Gabriel fans will love this album.

Really curious to see what Pete makes of this! I love it, I think the songwriting is of a really high level, great melodies and plenty of hooks!

  • @TheGenreman

    I found it boring

  • @mvellis3863

Nice review. I love the whole album, it's one of his best in my opinion. I prefer the Dark Side mix. it sounds a little more organic and the bass and drums are more up front. The sound quality on the vinyl is terrific

Just listened to it the other day. Yeah great album overhaul..I haven't bought it yet but will get the Bluray version with the ATMOS mix to play on my surround sound system. He sure put a lott of time working on this one. Hard to believe it's been 20 yrs. Highly recommended for PG fans and at least a listen is a must even if you're not.

My preference is the dark side. Great album from start to finish.

4.5 …love those slow ones . Especially the lyrics .

Not weeks Pete, he's been releasing them since February or something like that. Drove me crazy! I like to listen to the whole album, same as you, but it was no way to avoid seeing the clips and hearing the songs at through the year. what can we do ...

  • @mikebabiak

Saw him in Philly, last member of Genesis I needed to see live! I give this 4.5/5. Agreed with everything you said, from favorite songs to mix preference. Really pleasant surprise!

  • @kamranmalik8546

I need to buy this for Christmas

  • @ampoll88

I have been really enjoying this one! I tend to agree with you, Pete, in that I find I prefer the Bright Side Mix for similar reasons. But both are great and the songs are strong overall. Love it!

  • @conspiracionesy

Great review as always, and congrats on the 90 thousand subscribers 👏🏻

Four kinds of horses is the stand out track for me. The first half is beautifully moody and solemn and just when you think this is as good as it gets the final three minutes takes it to another level.

  • @ericwalker6068

Saw him in Milwaukee and he performed most of this album and I enjoyed it immensely. The title track is his best song in ages-by far my favorite from the album. Probably my album of the year.
