Since they're already doing the 90s show next week, I have to imagine they're gonna do something more obscure for the CoG closer to the movie. Maybe an old Flash game? A Macromedia Flash game.
Or they'll just do the pilot and the finale of the 2014 Flash TV series, sort of a retrospective almost and trying to make sense of what's in between. Maso has mentioned that as a podcast idea on Big Sandwich, but it would be perfect for CoG on the channel to coincide with the Flash movie.
😂 See, I was pretty sure that the part of the movie where Shrek realizes that his actions have allowed Rumplestiltskin to rule the kingdom with an iron fist was a reference to the Gilligan's Island episode "The Little Dictator".
another lil bit of Green Trivia: the flutist playing the pied piper is Jeremy Steig, the original creator of the flute sample used in beastie boys' "Sure shot" which he recreates in this movie, as well as the son of the original Shrek book's author, William Steig. couldn't tell you what this movie lifts from Gilligan's Island though

He's actually the only accurately depicted character in Shrek as he is originally a fairytale VILLAIN, unlike the fairy godmother and prince charming (and Farquaad). I watched the film and enjoyed it. It had action, comedy and adventure in it. The film taught me to appreciate what you have now in your life. It sounds cliche, but, you never know what you have until it's gone. At first, Shrek wanted some space and to be able to act like a typical ogre again. He got what he wanted, but in the wrong way. He had family, friends and people who cared about him. He didn't know that until they were gone. I think a fair compromise for him would be he could spend time with Fiona, alone, somewhere private. Like at a beach in Shrek 2, away from the kids, Donkey, Puss and the other villagers, maybe once a week. In my opinion. And it's like what they said before, have a babysitter take care of the kids for a day while they're out.
"it's like living in a chocolate factory" said right after talking about Shrek eating shit is gonna haunt my dreams for a while, great video as always.
Extra green trivia. All of the plants are dead because Rumpelstiltskin made a deal with the witches to stop the rain to keep them from melting in exchange for serving as his army.

There are genuinemoments in "real life" when I'm walking around a grocery store or Home Depot, listening to CoG, cackling randomly as I pick out items...and I think..."Should I stop and explain to my fellow shoppers that two Australian men are slowly losing their minds to a Smash Mouth-based movie franchise from my childhood for my amusement?" No. No I should not.
Feel like this middle-life crisis was bit out of nowhere. At the end of the last movie he's so happy and now we get a montage of like a week and he's already thinking about going out to buy a pack of cigarettes forever. Would've helped if that montage was in a movie before this and Donkey or someone needs Shrek's help on a quest and Shrek is like: "Can't hear you, babe, gotta go help my bro. Adventure awaits!". Then they go to some even more far far away land where no one actual knows of ogres, so he can get the taste of his old days again. Like this set up It's a Wonderful Life is fine, but bit rushed. Also, what happened when Shrek was born? The day of his birth gets erased and there's a whole camp of ogres now and presumably many more have been caught and maybe killed already. Is he like the harbinger of the ogre apocalypse and wiped them all out just by existing?
This wasnt a week later it was the babies first birthday And I think its natural shrek felt the way he did He had years of profound loneliness and struggles with communication and would rely on being rude to cope or " acting like an ogre" so he ends up bottling his emotions and the party which was extremely stressful it was written to put as much stress on shrek as possible. Like when donkey licks the cake or the pigs eat it and he gets blamed for it he never corrects them instead relys on being rude saying "trust me its an improvement" after donkey licks it and it triggers a remark from his mother in law about acting like an ogre Something shrek had been genuinley trying to improve upon

This might be my favorite one of all of them. It's difficult to choose between it and Shrek II. Rumpelstiltskin's party palace track brings that heat. Those witches made a legitimate bop! ❤🔥
I know why James thought it was titled Shrek Goes Fourth! I saw that too! That was the line in the teaser poster. I think it was before the movie had an actual title, or any footage to use in ads. They just wanted to let people know they were working on a 4th movie. I remember seeing “Shrek goes fourth” in magazines. And the image was either just a generic picture of Shrek doing the Dreamworks face, or it was a green number 4 with Shrek ears coming out of the sides of the number.
Yeah, me too! That's why I was so VERY, VERY disappointed with this movie! It's a WONDERFUL Life is my VERY favorite movie of all time! But this was just an EXTREMELY dark, dreary rip-off! NOT an homage! NOT a tribute! Just a BIG, blatant RIP-OFF! This was DEFINITELY my LEAST favorite movie in all the Shrek franchise! 👎

I was so worried that the guy yelling Rodney was gone. The last time left an empty hole in my soul. I was restless. I didn't know what I was doing in my life anymore. I was on the edge. But he came back to me. There's something worth fighting for again.

Shrek laughing at the death of the goose has to be the funniest thing I'm going to see today. And I'm watching Quantumania later lol
We need to make it a meme
The Rodney bit is back. Love live the Rodney bit.
Edit: leaving the typo - live, laugh, love The Rodney bit.
I want a Woodburn sign in my living room that says: Love, Live, the Rodney bit.
James Corden being labelled as "disgustang" just felt right. It just felt right.
"it's like living in a chocolate factory" said right after talking about Shrek eating shit is gonna haunt my dreams for a while, great video as always.
missed opportunity to say "ogre-all" at 19:43
Guy who shouts Rodney is BACK
I like the fact that they agree with all of my opinions. I like to pretend Shrek 3 doesn’t exist.
I sincerely hope, with all my heart, that you never stop the Guy shouting Rodney bit.
Thank the gods, the guy screaming Rodney has been returned to us!
Rodney!
I love that the Pied Piper of Hamelin gets called "The Rat Whistler". If Pied Piper had a reality show, that's what they'd call it.
My wife watches these with me every now and then and I was about to explain the Rodney supercut when IT CAME ON. Thanks Ben and Lawrence for the edit
Extra green trivia. All of the plants are dead because Rumpelstiltskin made a deal with the witches to stop the rain to keep them from melting in exchange for serving as his army.
I guess this is goodbye to "Grab dat Shrek". Gonna miss it.
“Paul, can you read these lines?”

Yo the lads went MENTAL! On this one, the editing is phenomenal especially the part of James talking down to the plebeian trying to talk him with his million subs
idk why Paul McCartney leaving for 'creative differences' is so funny to me
Honestly I can't even blame Shrek. What he said was mean, but bro just wanted a one day break to live in the old days and thought he'd get to go back.
From then on the story is perfect.
Glad to see the super cut back. I’m sure Ben and Laurence were thrilled. I think I’m ok to move on from it now 😂
7:41 Shrek LOVES killing geese
Fiona killed the goose technically, but shrek got a good laugh out of it
Another great video but DAMN YOU EDITORS for casually reminding me of Glenn's tragic death.
19:41 Mason missed a golden opportunity to slip in an "Ogre-All" there. Not angry, just disappointed
Also I kinda love how at 18:24 Ben and/or Lawrence try to -as politely as possible- reveal that the whole beanstalk thing has already been done in a Shrek-Universe movie and therefore will probably not ever happen again

Heavy shout out to the editors for the Nick Cage headline edit at 17:03 incredible.
I think if it was a reboot, they wouldn’t be calling it “Shrek 5”
Shrek is love, Shrek is life.
Ive seen shrek the musical, it was actually alot better than i assumed it would be
You watch, these guys will surprise everybody and do PUSS IN BOOTS next week. Because they rule.
By the time this one came out, I remember everyone pretty much being tired and done with Shrek. 4th installments in a movie franchise is always a hurtle for some especially if the 3rd one in particular wasn't very good. I don't remember anyone talking about this one when it came out or close afterwards. I literally only remember the happy meal stuff at McDonalds. I didn't see it until a year or so afterwards on TV
The bit where he's just beating the shit out of rumplestiltskin had me rolling

There are genuinemoments in "real life" when I'm walking around a grocery store or Home Depot, listening to CoG, cackling randomly as I pick out items...and I think..."Should I stop and explain to my fellow shoppers that two Australian men are slowly losing their minds to a Smash Mouth-based movie franchise from my childhood for my amusement?"
No.
This wasnt a week later it was the babies first birthday
And I think its natural shrek felt the way he did
He had years of profound loneliness and struggles with communication and would rely on being rude to cope or " acting like an ogre" so he ends up bottling his emotions and the party which was extremely stressful it was written to put as much stress on shrek as possible. Like when donkey licks the cake or the pigs eat it and he gets blamed for it he never corrects them instead relys on being rude saying "trust me its an improvement" after donkey licks it and it triggers a remark from his mother in law about acting like an ogre
Something shrek had been genuinley trying to improve upon
The thrill I feel when that man says Rodney keeps me going through any hardships I feel.
I feel like I'm in a secret club because I understand the origin of the Rodney supercut whilst new viewers will have no idea what it is
The bit where James beats up Rumplestiltskjn had me 😂
Shrek going through a Shrek life crisis
The glorious return of RODNNEEEYYYYYYYYY 11:57

6:36 I would pay good money for a short film where James meets Rumplestilskin in the suburbs of Melbourne and just beats him to a bloody pulp while Maso cheers him on from the sidelines.
Just woke up from a hell of a bender for this premiere.
I am mad that in the endcard they don't say "Who are they meeting?" "Proffessor Shreks of course"

This might be my favorite one of all of them. It's difficult to choose between it and Shrek II.
Rumpelstiltskin's party palace track brings that heat. Those witches made a legitimate bop! ❤🔥
search for medieval bard cover of Akons "yeah!" and someone pls make a meme or covering the song over the scene lol
Honestly so glad Rodney guy is not being retired! I burst out laughing when I heard it again 😂 🤣 😭 💀
Shrek is love. Shrek is life
I have some green trivia Captain Hook’s hook is on the right hand when the Disney one’s hook is on the left hand
I loved this one, always reminded me of It’s A Wonderful Life (the best Christmas movie)
But you are correct in that It's a WONDERFUL Life is the BEST Christmas movie!
This series is one of the highlights of my week, cheers lads
Very glad to see the guy who screams “Rodney” is back ❤

After listening and watching them for 8 years "Rodney" is by far the most hilarious running joke
