15:11 Incredible voice acting. Have been missing this for so long. It's different from AOC, but it feels that the voice actors are actually in the battle. Kudos to the devs.
They can keep like a storical sequence...next would be alexander the great...we can add egipt. Indians (dont know under wich name) macedonians. Maybe parthians The we can see rome birth. The punics war with rome been add. Cartago. Nubia. Iberians... Then rone expansion...the celts. They reach the chinese (again dont know on wich name) They can make till reach the start of age 2 with goths and huns And it was only an eurocentric view...so much more can be done.... But i do believe that they will not go back to assyrians. Babylon and other civs that are more focused on aoe 1
I hope that after this dlc, the trigger editor get's a load of QoL changes, because all that, seemed like a nightmare to make with the current tools in the editor
Imagine having this kind of scenario with that narrative animation. We need retold story like this for Hundred Years War where we follow Britons, Franks, Burgundians story perspective. Japan, Chinese and Koreans when Japan invasion! Imagineee
Mind that the mission is unwinnable without that siege reinforcement. I went into another direction with 48 units and losed ridiculously in the final fight even with trying to cheese it. But with the siege weapons and its units inside, it was a total breeze on hard.
Ohh Tarantine Cavalry. I wonder how many of these scenario only units will end up in future civs. The Mercenary Leader looks to be a peltast which would be the Thracian UU
I wouldn't mind watching this live on Twitch. I'm not sure if the production would complicate things, but you seem to just shoot the whole thing in 1 take. Maybe make a watch party (it's your content anyway).
That should be a complete DLC for Middle East, including most of its Bronze age civilizations including Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Hebrews
And DLC around the last should be great, with including additional Old Testament people: Midianites, Amalekites, Canaanites, Philistines, Edomites, Moabites, Ammonites, Syrians.
lol the first mission was the only one I manage to finish on hard and only because I completely cheesed it with the respawning hero units. i just hid one of my normal units and kept riding in with my hero units to lure the enemy away of that building you have to conquer haha
@@edorn9972 until ceaser campaing theres so much to tell...alexander the great expansion...and then his empire in war...with egiptians, macedonians, indians Thee beggining of rome and punic wars. Maybe a dlc with hun expansion...dont know if they will make new versions of already existing civs from the aoe2 rost
This really reminds me of the OG Forgotten in the HD edition, where all the campaign units were reskinned or renamed versions of other units like the "norse axe man" or whatever in so many missions that was just a longswordsman with a few pixels changed
It is weird seeing tarantine cavalry present at the siege of babylon, because taras itself was founded barely 200 years ago and their army certainly was not so famous at this point of history............
historians have apparently been part of the story making so it should be fairly accurate but they may have taken some from other parts to make the gameplay or story more interesting
Also noting, the pathfinding in this DLC seems to be absolutely horrible. Especially formation arrangements are awful. I had attack move commands where my units were standing around idle and such.
They should have added the war elephant, the unique unit of Persian as well as the immortals. It makes more sense from a historical point of view. For the Persians in AOE2 representing Persia after Isalm, no war elephants were available for them those days
I hope there will be a quick mod be made to replace the mangonel and scorpian line by its return of rome sprits, as the aoe2 units kill the antiquity vibe for me
I'm not so much a fan of fixed forces and like in those cases at least some vill or building part. As long as ff don't dominate this campaign, a few may be ok. Still somehow it felt kind of simplistic or not indepth. I liked the Sargon of Accad campaign. Maybe the story sticks much more vividly since I listend to a history podcast about that time while playing, which made it much more immersive. Here I haven't picked up much of the story, what was the background, what was the lead-up and the challenges. A major point, what about the citys population, it feels kind of empty. I guess they were hiding in the houses. Still looking forward to the other scenarios. I assume Lord Basse is not involved here and he surely is a tough guy to beat in scenario design and story telling. btw I preorderd the DLC as I think this approach can be really promising and a good direction.
Campaign looks good. But the cockney accent of the mercenaries is kind of jarring, feels like an oversight on the team to allow this in an antiquity campaign, damages the immersion effect!
Im not sure I absolutely do not care about that dlc just stick to the basics and bring more campaigns to civs that are playable without campaigns life Magyars or so … disappointing no age 2 …
I'm sold. this looks like the best DLC I've seen in AOE2
love most of it, HATE the English accents though
Lost
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This gonna be hype!
Also the narrator sounds like the voice actress for Gaia in God of War.
Yep i think so, it could be linda hunt (1st gaia VA) is the VA for chronicles narrator

this campaign is looking CLEAN, super excited to play
My new favorite phrase: _"the glorious stench of..."_
The cutscences are amazing. This could be a sign of things to come!
Thanks for making these Ornlu. You are like Obi-Wan guiding me through the missions.
S tier campaign material here. Arguably the most exciting aoe campaign intro that I ever seen
I wasn't originally sold on the DLC before, but I certainly am now. This is really cool.
I won't be able to watch this campaign because I want to discover it by myself, but I'll watch the first one and that's it.
Would love to watch this, but I also wanna play this campaign spoiler free 😅
dude what spoilers? everyone knows who won at thermopylae and who won at plateae. its not like the outcome is a surprise.........

1. Welcome to chronicles!
😂😂😂
Sooo cool. The age of Darius the great king of Persia. I love history and aoe😊
Damn capture age team is cooking hard this time
I hope the UI icons in Chronicles get reworked to look less medieval.
just here for this comment, sadly i cant watch it yet since i want to play the campaign blind, see u in 2-3 weeks! Im hyped for this DLC
I really like the campaign map, looks fun
Btw...
I guess darius VA is the voice actors for achaemenids military VA

I noticed that they used some of AOE 1 background music here. Nice touch
They need to make so many more of these..... feudal japan, vikings, rome, the list goes on.

Hahaha, the bwi'ish mercenaries cracked me up so hard.
The eternal Anglo…
The return of Rome needs this polishing and pathfinding
Invisible walls must be a new building unit.
The War Chariots have 0.8 blast radius because of the Scythed Chariots unique technology.
Which one you think is best bodyguard
Wanna pick infantry
Cause it covers main Persian weakness
But they will not receive more bonus
What's the difference between the three bodyguard companies aside from their stats? Would be nice if the game told us if they had any bonuses etc
The map resembles the one from the campaign with Saladin mission 1. Anyway, nice.

why are they posting it now? it will only come out in 10 days :(
on my game, nothing happens when i reach darius
This is what Return of Rome should've been, I hope they'll support this mode and develop new campaigns- the Rome at War mod had a Caesar campaign.

So wait the game skips Cyrus the Great?
I think they need to port all AoE 1 campaign here 😅 just like we have all Left 4 Dead 1 in Left 4 Dead 2

It's $15 (price will vary depending on your region)
