During the sengoku period lots of peasants were armed due to the need of soldiers in the wars between the daimyos, while archers need years of training to be efficient longbowman it only took few months to train someone on an arquebuse, for the same reason they become common in europe
To Mr. Ornlu: You could've used the junk to trade. Don't know if it's different on this dlc, but in the og scenario they're just slow but profitable ships.
This reminds me of the regional unification scenarios in Samurai Warriors 2: Empires where you can play not only as Shimazu, but the other clans as well
It's a shame you didn't have Filthy on call for this one, Ornlu. I'd *really* love to know why he thought losing gold for killing units would be a fun mechanic, or why he then decided to have the enemies gang up on you with infinite unit spam and take away your siege on top of that.
They should really make an east asian dlc next. I am in a desparate need for a chinese, korean and japanese campaign. Especially the korean and chinese as they feel a little left out and they only have one scenario playable for them.
As much as I want a Japanese campaign, their history during AoE2's timeline is basically mirror matches (aka internal struggle) which isn't exciting in terms of gameplay
@@pavise6333 ya i agree bro Also a chinese campaign based on ming china showing their independence struggle from mongol yuan dynasty and their unification of china would also be a great idea. A japanese campaign will also be very good but i doubt the devs will ever show their fight against other civs like koreans or chinese as their history is mainly their internal struggles and due to them being separated from the mainland china they didnt had much involvement there except for ww2 😅 ig But a scenario based on japanese defence against the mongol invasion would also be a great idea or they could show tokugawa leyasu's unification of japan in aoe2 which the devs already showed us in aoe3 but still it could be great as most people play aoe2 not aoe3.
Total War Shogun 2 but in Age of Empires 2. Age of Shogun 2 if you will. I really like the unit changes and unique mechanics to reflect the nature of feudal Japan. This really is Total War Shogun 2 in Age of Empires 2.
Easy to cheese this scenario by dropping a few heroes with ships behind the castle and just slamming it. Have a few other units to kite the surrounding units *before* landing, and before long you have an entire army for free, which should make capturing all other castles easier and easier. Barely any need to fight.
Godamn, getting arbitrarily punished in an annoying manner for doing something that you want to do is very Japanese. Source: lived in Japan for a decade. In Kyushu no less.
I like the scenario, only complain is the missing acess to siege for the entire game. At least for the shoguns invasion acess to capped rams and trebs would speed things up, attacking huge defenses with infantry is neither fun or challenging, just a grind
The 10 gold part per kill is really annoying indeed, but if you just defend with towers and the castle that is very nicely positioned at the beginning then you do not lose gold (you have to do some baiting at the beginning until you get murder holes, but meh) and then just get a mass of samurai like Ornlu did, roll the castles, gain access to more military that will eventually destroy the Shogun army, I wish I knew all this before failing 3 times 😆And I still don't have the achievement cause I am too slow, lmao
Losing gold on every kill sounds like an agonizingly frustrating mechanic, especially if the ai is programmed to attack you regularly
Particularly because I doubt the AI has to play by those rules.
I think it'd be fine if it weren't 10 gold for every single unit killed, that's actually insane
Most of V&V missions are plagued by unfun and/or boring ideas.

I swear this whole mission seems like a take of Shogun:Total War by Age of Empires.. O_o

Fr he needs some explaining or some reworking to do like he didnt make any changes at all to the scenarios

You can always look for the mods. There's plenty of campaigns for what you're looking for.
The spy unit at the market is cheap and incredibly useful in exploring the mainland

Were it not for the mechanic of losing 10 gold for each unit you kill, I would have really liked this scenario.
meanwhile the Shogun listens to the music of the Kojo, while we outside the Shimazu build our prestige.

The shogun has trebs and I think the idea was to convert them (never mind my ships auto-attacked and killed them before)
Can you provide a map of all the shipwrecks? I can’t find the last one
Age of Empire: Shogun
You could trade with the Junk ships with the Nanban @ornlu
btw are we getting a tier list?
