  • Client: Wanna do a little dragster work?
    Me: Sure, what you need?
Client: Engine plate going to a small block.
Me: Alright see you in a bit.
This is one of those times that layout skills come into play, and making a template really helps. Basically with the engine centered and angled correctly in the car. In the case I this hardtail dragster the pinion angle determines the engine angle as the centerline runs from the pinion they the trans and crankshaft. The other major placement is left right. The engine is centered in these chassis typically.
As I didn’t have a plate of aluminum in hand big enough to the plate, we went with one from Allstar Performance. The main thing to remember here is measure twice (maybe 3 times) and cut once. It may surprise you what you can accomplish with a level, angle gauge and a tape measure. If you like the video please comment, subscribe or share. Practice your skills or learn a new one. You never know how far they will take you.
    Until next time.....

I'm new to engine plates... do you use any sealant or gasket between the plate and the engine on the water pump holes? Or just straight bolt 0n?

Yes, you would still use gasket or sealer at any point on the plate water pass thru.

      Great question,
Usually they’re not that hard to work with however, in recent years I have encountered some with let’s say; less than quality threads. These are tough to get back loose if need be.
