This game still holds up today. I played it with my wife a few times and we had a lot of fun. Only issue I had was that its frustrating when you don't land on a color you want. It's probably a lot more fun with 4 players.
Anticipation combines gameplay elements from Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit board games. The player is represented by one of four game pieces on a board: a pair of pink high-heeled shoes, a bugle, an ice cream cone, and a teddy bear. The game slowly draws a picture, and the first person to buzz in may try to guess it. A die counts down from six to zero while the picture is being drawn. As soon as a player buzzes in, the die and the drawing both freeze and the player has 25 seconds to spell out the answer. Making two mistakes, or running out of time, locks the player out; the drawing and the die countdown both resume, and the other players can then buzz in. This game was Nintendo's first board video game. Now you're playing with brain power.
btw at 32:04, in the sience category, it says the answer is cancer, thats messed up lol, im only kidding, I know its just a game & its also one of my childhood favorites that I learned alot from
Kids these days have *no idea* how many times we've blown into an NES cartridge trying to get the bouncing logo animation at the beginning of Anticipation to play smoothly and with the right colors.
I could always remember this music but for the life of me couldn’t remember what game it was from. It took me googling “list of nes games with cover”. Soon as I saw it I was like THATS IT!
RNG? It was called "Anticipation" because part of the game was not just getting the right answer, but buzzing in at the right time so you'd advance to the space you needed next. The spaces follow a predictable pattern.
It's just Pictionary on a home game console. Also, all those *Food* puzzles being blue, Especially Soda pop & popsicle, makes me feel cold. Wanna bundle up in my Snuggie with a nice warm baby bottle of chocolate milk
I was irritated cuz i always wanted to be the ice cream or the bear but i could only be a horn or high heels. why did they only let computer have the cool ones. Very irritating i still want to be the ice cream and the bear.
I can't believe I am watching this entire thing playing along.... Thanks for the memories!!😁😍
I love this game's soundtrack. Classic David Wise material here.
I don't think there is another NES game that made me scream "Fuck the hell off" more at it.

Nah we always had a bottle of rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips near by to clean the contacts on the cartridge.
OMG I miss this game...todays generation has no idea of family fun
I actually have this game... It's pretty good for what it is...
It really is what the NES excels at, huh? Simple but creative game constructs I mean. Keeps it fun :)
NintendoComplete Still have it, too...
I W A R N E D Y O U
better gameplay than the _actual_ pictionary on NES
0:32 The music sounds like the beginning level music from the Milton Bradley NES' port of Marble Madness.

That guessing music goes too hard for its own good
I remember owning this game.
I used to love this game!
Those "scissors" at 45:00 look like they've been deformed... like they were used a horrific crime or something.
God I loved this game. Need to take my NES back from my parents house and play it on Christmas
Man I had a great love/hate relationship with this game.
I loved the basic premise.
I hated how ruthlessly hard it was at the end
man that rng for getting the required color was brutal!
Until you land on a Grey square. That's one video game I managed to master the timing on

Just found a sealed original
i remember the fun when the cartridge is dirty and the picture is all messed up
The song that plays when the player goes to solve it sounds very similar to IronSword Wizards and Warriors 2 when he goes into the store.
David Wise did the music for both games.
The dreaded whatchamacallit lol
