jean safiera yep! Betty White was originally asked to read for blanches part but they asked her to switch with Rue and Rue did such an amazing job during the reading- she got the part.
Rue McClanahan's Blanche is comedy perfection. But then again, all four ladies were without peer. Still hilarious after all these years. Can't name another show from the past that is still wildly popular in the present.

Sometimes you get yourself a really good-looking salesman and you try to pretend you don't notice his hands caressing your calf as he tries to keep his mind on shoes, but all the time he's thinking, "Dare I peek? "Dare I look more? "Dare I look where no eyes have looked before?" And then, as he kneels there before you, little beads of perspiration breakin' out on his forehead, his breath comin' shorter and quicker, he ever so gently slips the supple leather on your quivering foot, and you achieve a perfect fit. Come on, old woman, we need shoes now!
I have just hit 50 & I want to go back to my 20's when these 4 women made man laugh on Friday evenings. I miss them & the endless opportunities I had before me. Raising my glass to Estelle, Rue & Bea & continued blessings to Betty. Thank you girls.

Spark TV, like Dorothy explained, an orator is a public speaker, but Blanche thought it had something to do with oral sex (both words are derived from the Latin 'oralis'), hence Blanche assuring Dorothy that two of the commissioners would vouch for her being a wonderful orator. XD
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night just sweating and screaming and clawing. Like a trapped Panther. Unable to release the lust and steaming passions that constantly threatened to erupt from within me 😂😂😂
What about when Rose was telling her "Best Sex Ever" story, which involved poor Charlie dying of heart failure in the middle of it. When Blanche asked her if that was really the best sex she ever had, Rose responded: "Yes! Though I did think it was strange when he started shouting, 'Rose, I'm going! I'm going!'" XD
I loved all the Golden Girls -- Rose/Betty White, Dorothy/Bea Arthur and Sophia/Estelle Getty, but Rue McClanahan's acting as Blanche Devereaux was, for me, the best among this superlative cast. Whether she was getting steamy under the collar, or delivering a heartfelt monologue, her acting could make you laugh uproariously or drop tears of sadness. That's why Rue is one of my all-time favorite comedic actresses.
