The first Philips electronic CFL from 1983

  • A look at a very special Light Bulb in my collection. This was one of a few prototype CFL lamps that Philips produced, that had an Electronic Ballast vs Magnetic ballasts that where the norm at the time.
    This lamp became the Philips "Earthlight" SL18 once they became mass produced in the early 90's.

    Nice, cool to see an original package! I have some of these same SL*18 bulbs but they are in the later Earth Light packaging. These bulbs are very high quality!

      They are very high quality you're right! I sometimes pass by some houses that still have them in post top fixtures.

      @@Boxfan2008 A friend of mine will soon open a small museum for old tech, mostly computers, communication devices and so on. I asked him if he wants to have them for his collection so maybe they will be in a museum soon for others to see 🙂
