Everyone always praises Freddie Mercury's wonderful and unique voice but don't forget his amazing talents as a musician, composer and song writer--he was the main composer and song writer for the Barcelona album.

The range of genres in which he composed music - from classical music to heavy metal to gospel and soul to jazz to dance & club music to complex prog anthems to simple pop songs - is mind blowing.
He is singing in his natural baritone. He really is not a tenor but is able to push his range. All in Spanish. She is magnificent.
He is a tenor, this song is in the tenor range, from C3 - A4. He is trying to sing in a more operatic style. Male opera singers do sing with far more darker voices.

Gosh, she has the most beautiful voice. This is the song you reacted to that Freddie wrote for her, well, at least it’s the music to it, the song, Exercises in Free Love (Freddie Vocal) is him, singing this, essentially, without words. you should definitely react to the two of them singing Barcelona next, it’s heaven sent.
There is a track/portion of this song where Freddie sings BOTH parts. The friendship between them was genuine. To him she was the greatest soprano of her day - and for her interest to collaborate with him gave him a final sublime creation, close to his heart. She was one person outside his very close circle of friends that Freddie disclosed his illness. Interviews share that love. She too is gone now, but what a duo: rock & opera - quite stunning in its day!
The track you are referring to is “Exercises In Free Love”. Freddie did it in falsetto as a demo for Montserrat so she would get an idea of her part.
