Freddie Mercury needs to be recognized more often than he usually is for his musicianship, composing and songwriting--he was the most diverse and unique member of Queen--and not just his outstanding vocals and performance skills. He was the main composer and songwriter on the entire Barcelona album which was the first time such a collaboration of musical styles was done--he was truly an innovator.
They became best friends and Freddie called her Montsy. Freddie loved her voice and dreamed of writing a song for her. It’s a bit of a story how they finally came together but there is an entire album you would love that they made together. A dream come true for Freddie. He didn’t live much longer after their collaboration. Just love your reaction🌹 I feel the same way 💛
I loved this. You didn't need to say anything, just watching your face as the performance kept getting bigger and bigger was awesome. I was speechless the first time i saw it as well. What's even more mindblowing for me was that Freddkie was very sick at this time but once a showman always a showman. Monserrat was nearly 60 years old and still let some of those notes just go on and on there like it was nothing. It makes me so happy to see that people are still appreciating their gifts 35 years later. I'd give you 2 thumbs up if youtube would let me!

Freddie wrote the album for the two of them, they met when he saw Montsey in the Opera London and they became friends, the one thing that she asked for was a song about her country and so this song came about, I think it bought a whole new audience for the two of them and this song played at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona something Fred never lived too see

I’m so grateful that this recording happened and we are able to experience this today. Neither of them are with us anymore, and I like to think that they are gracing the heavens with their beautiful voices.

There will absolutely never be another Like Freddie. I was a teen of the 70's and watched Queen during their best years. I can not think of ANY artist in all of those years , with the stellar talent , charisma, musical integrity or genius that can equal them. There is no band I can name who's lead singer wrote and sang multi platinum records and hits selling in the hundreds of millions , and then can take the stage with the greatest Opera Diva of all time and absolutely knock it out of the park. NO ONE BUT FREDDIE! RIP Freddie, and MS Caballe.

My FAVORITE song of his, is a cover he does of: "BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER" (Simon & Garfunkle did the original). There are a TON of videos on UA-cam from his live performances of this song, but... The performances AFTER (more recent than) 2022 ARE THE BEST because of the verses he includes in the song. (In 2022 he started including the last verse that has the LOVELIEST lyrics - It starts out "Sail on Silver Girl..." - and dedicates it to his Grandmother who passed away when he was a boy.) To make things MORE "confusing"... Sometimes he only sings a shorter version - only two verses - and those videos are under 4 minutes long.
