Hello guys in this video we are looking for the noise rattling noise somewhere in the gearbox i thought i heard it in the front differential so after opening it up i find the following the gears are in excellent condition the bearings are in poor condition the first is more than the second. i replaced the two bearings! Because it could be play!
After the test drive, the rattling sound was still present!
but I also have a little whining sound in the car and that is gone!
That was the bad bearings!

Hallo jongens in deze video gaan we opzoek naar het geluid ratelden geluid ergens in de versnellingsbak ik dacht te horen in de voorste Differentieel dus na het open maken treft ik het volgende de aan de tandwiel zijn in uitstekende staat de lagers zijn daar in tegen in slechte staat de eerst meer dan de tweede omdat ik veder niet veel zag hebben de lagers vernieuwd! Omdat het speling kon zijn!
Na de proef rit was de ratelden geluid nog steeds aanwezig jammer genoeg!
maar ik had ook een beetje ruisende geluid in de auto en dat is wel weg!
Dat was toch de slecht lagers!

Yes that will be a challenge. 😂😅 yes I checked that but nothing seems wrong with it! but we are going to try the bleu rs5 drive shaft on the red rs5 just to be sure.
but I still think that it is a bad bearing from the gearbox and that the teeth rotate against each other, I think
@Rm Projects If u can get an oil sample from the diff fluid you can send it off for analysis. I do this kinda thing for my job. If you have high iron content or brass or anything like that then it could give u some data. You won't have a baseline sample but it could still give u some data.

What was the mileage on this car during this service or when you noticed this whine caused by the front differential bearings?? I am curious if my 2008 S5 is having the same issue...

Well done, what a great job and the video. I got question if you can answer me please. I think I got same problem on my A6 C7 2.0 tdi. But seems your sides are identical while mine one is same like yours on right side and different on left. Thanks!

Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have same play if not worse, but no noise. Insted when i came to a stop in D i feel the hit of the engaging 1st gear. Just when i stop completely. No clunk in putting in D nor in R .Do you think it can be this problem or a mech unit? No fault code stored, no error in tcu or pms

Hey i have a sound like a bearing but only when accelerating was this all the time or only when accelerating?
Where and how did you find bearings. For my A6 C7 Audi only shows from the cover out, no internal parts. Did you use the numbers on the bearings and races? Thanks.
For the A6 C7 the parts numbers are different.
For the gearbox side diff bearing: 0B1409123
For the driveshaft side diff bearing: 0B1409422D
Also the seal part numbers are different.
I ordered the same parts as I saw in this video and sadly noticed that the seals and bearing are different for the A6.
Currently in the middle of this job. 2013 A6 with the 3.0 TFSI. Gearbox NSH.
At 2:49, is it normal to have a little play when you spin it like that... Mine has... 😅 Seems like differential itself has worn bearings too, both sides... Actually more than other bearings.. 😮 If its not normal. 😢

@reinhardrudolf2285 No problem, Parts in Total were around 300 euro’s total.
Axial clearance, on the Diffrential can not be measured, on the spline shaft, its enclosed in the cover, radial clearance was a slight bit less, Nothing too crazy
Hey I have a 2013 B8.5 rs5 and I seen your video on UA-cam replacing the bearings on the front diff do you know if your B8 rs5 has the same trans as my car? I’m in the United States it has a 7 speed ob5 dl501. I’m looking to replace the same bearings on the front differential but my local dealership said they do not list the parts break down for the differential. Is there some type of info that you have that they do not? I’d really like to get these bearings changed as it has the same amount of slip as your video showed. Let me know!
The partnumbers are from a 0B4 manual transmission gearbox. OB5 you can only change the complete gearbox, 0B4 you can change all bearings
It takes some abuse for the final drive bearing to fail...Long-term bend in the hub or wheel.
Hi,where do you fill up the diff fluid?mine is like yours no plug on the diff case,also had a similar noise like a rattle and it turned out to be an engine mount when letting off or applying throttle

I have the same sound in my car and it sounds like it’s coming from the back of the gearbox I have a s6c7 with dl501 120k km
