I listened to their whole discography in one sitting....three times....not only are my ear hairs dissolved, but also my bum hairs, and my cats hairs, in fact, the whole house is hairless, saves going out to the barbers, thank you sunn
Drone is a pretty strange music. I saw them live, and the louder they got the relaxed I felt. I stood there for 2 hours in the mist of fog machines and the sea of soundwaves and it was like sitting in a massage chair.
I'd hoped for years that they'd return to my town in Bumfuck, Australia. They almost did, but they cancelled because the promoter that had booked them got outed for hitting on underage girls. I've since moved to Taiwan and they toured Australia while I've been here. Shit sucks.
Avalokiteshvara(Kannon), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, meditating deeply on Perfection of Wisdom, saw clearly that the five aspects of human existence are empty*, and so released himself from suffering. Answering the monk Sariputra, he said this: Body is nothing more than emptiness, emptiness is nothing more than body. The body is exactly empty, and emptiness is exactly body. The other four aspects of human existence -- feeling, thought, will, and consciousness -- are likewise nothing more than emptiness, and emptiness nothing more than they. All things are empty: Nothing is born, nothing dies, nothing is pure, nothing is stained, nothing increases and nothing decreases. So, in emptiness, there is no body, no feeling, no thought, no will, no consciousness. There are no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind. There is no seeing, no hearing, no smelling, no tasting, no touching, no imagining. There is nothing seen, nor heard, nor smelled, nor tasted, nor touched, nor imagined. There is no ignorance, and no end to ignorance. There is no old age and death, and no end to old age and death. There is no suffering, no cause of suffering, no end to suffering, no path to follow. There is no attainment of wisdom, and no wisdom to attain. The Bodhisattvas rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, and so with no delusions, they feel no fear, and have Nirvana here and now. All the Buddhas, past, present, and future, rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, and live in full enlightenment. The Perfection of Wisdom is the greatest mantra. It is the clearest mantra, the highest mantra, the mantra that removes all suffering. This is truth that cannot be doubted. Say it so: Gaté, gaté, paragaté, parasamgaté. Bodhi! Svaha! Which means... Gone, gone, gone over, gone fully over. Awakened! So be it!

I discovered this band on a festival and it was a really strange experience I was like "at any moment it goes really fast, it's just the intro" But it stayed like this for the all performance It's kinda hypnotizing, relaxing and at the same time it's really spooky, it could be the ambiance for an horror game It could be the sound of the backrooms

Finally checked out this album after growing a fascination for Kwan Yin (Kwannon or "Kannon") and remembered this album. Holy shit. Amazing. Glad they don't just do the same tempo on every album.
This is kind of like and kind of the opposite of black metal. It tries to create a dark atmosphere, but instead of using tremolo picking and speed, it uses slow tempos and simple riffs. And Csihar's vocals just add in to the mix. A normal person would consider this something stupid, but when you start to think about the details and the point of this music, you start to like it. The same goes for most extreme metal genres.
While I listen to this at work, I feel like I'm floating in space and witnessing birth of a star. If music can create that kind of feeling, then I call it good music.
G Delic I feel exactly the same when listening at this! Stars look static and eternal, however they are violently exploding inside, releasing lots of energy. This also happens to me when I go hiking and I stare at a mountain, trees, the sea... then I get emotional because nature is calmed and full of energy at the same time. I guess I like this sort of contrast because it pretty much describes how I am.
+JesusEater I saw them last year in Czech Republic at Brutal Assault and the concert was amazing (I will always remember this), but I love their music so much that I still keep on listening to them at home
I play drone live myself and it's an experience unlike any other. I feel physically exhausted after playing a show but in a good way. it's really something that just can't be transitioned into a recorded format.
Oh yeah? Cool...I add elements of drone into my act--on the rare occasions when I play, although I currently play for my 94 year old mum using my old Fender Super Six Reverb amp, and she LOVES it--but ironically my buddies back in the day (1970's) and I would space out using drones liberally in a textural space music, not unlike early Tangerine Dream. SUCH FUN I cannot tell you..
ok, for all you ignorant people commenting how trash this is, its not supposed to be a technical masterpiece. Its ambient, heavy doom simplicity. Its called drone metal, and for those of you looking to bang your heads and make some nice beautiful whirling pits, look elsewhere. But for those of you that like to sit there and be swept away by some heavy tones, look no further than SUNN O))). Also yes, their logo is based on the amp company. Stop hating my people. Metal will always prevail. \,,/
Jackson Baker Don't put this in the category of metal A categorization such as drone metal is already shitty enough but having to listen to this is torturous And this is not ambient at all, Ambient music, be it metal, is supposed to make you relaxed, not help you in getting a migraine Fuckin' Idiot....
Okay, but hear me out. What if I told you that you didn't have to listen to this? That it's okay for you to not like it and it is okay that some people do?
Elliot Spencer Then I'd tell you that I'd never listen to this shit even if my life depended on it and that I stumbled upon it browsing through different songs and that I'd love to take back the 13 wasted mins of my life that I spent in listening to this song.... I would also say that people like different genres of music and it's respectable. What's not respectable is talentless shit like Pop Music and then immediately after that are SHITS like these, which have no purpose of existence than to create white noise and headaches...
When I discovered this band a long time ago, I didn't like it. I thought it was just noise and nothing interesting. But yesterday I listened to like 5 albums of them, and now, the more I listen, the more I like it, I'm hooked.
Sunn O))) studio albums, as good as they are, are merely a taster for the real expression of the music which is the live setting. You really do need the volume right to get the full impact of this music.

it's about feeling the frequencies. if you don't "get" sunn O))) (which is totally legit if you're completely new to this, I'm not judging anyone), either buy yourself a fucking 100w amp (or more) and at least a 4x12 cabinet, crank that shit up, tune down your guitar, turn out the lights, smoke some weed and try to dive into the atmosphere. or just go to a sunn O))) gig and experience it. otherwise, please just shut up and stop insulting us who enjoy this kind of stuff. it may sound pretentious, but this really is some kind of music that you have to "understand" first to be able to enjoy it. and what I mean by that is that you have to find a way into it, not that anyone who doesn't like it is dumb or something, so please don't try to twist it that way.
It's not pretentious to enjoy this, many myself included love this band. But I guess it's pretentious to imply it can only be enjoyed if you have a 100w amp and at least 4x12 cabinet in a dark room whilst smoking weed lol.
@@abandonedaccount7810 It's 60 BPM you rhythm-less buffoon. You can determine the tempo by the spacing of the chords after 1:00 or so. It's in 4/4 time if you tap along, and through that you can figure out they are playing at 60 BPM.
