The Switch is almost the perfect RPG and adventure handheld for me. Long battery, great screen and doesn't run hot! Here are some great upcoming RPG and adventure games just around the corner
Exactly why I finally got a switch just a couple years ago now. I never preorder games anymore but I did just now for Unicorn Overlord since I got huge Ogre vibes from it.
omg such good games to look forward to i am going to be skint and be fighting with my daughter who gets to play them 1st i better start putting the pounds away now lol great video lads yet again you lads never disappoint i always know i can trust you lads t6o give us the downlow on the games and not tear us wrong THANKS for that
Seeing another delinquent game made it into the upcoming line-up makes me glad! I'm also always been a fan of these type of series like Drop or Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daishou
It’s all about that UNICORN OVERLORD BABY!!! I saw the release trailer after finishing Triangle Strategy, which turned me into a fan of tactical RPG’s with ridiculous names.
RPGs are my fav video game genre. But being an adult is hard to have free time to delve into one those lengthy JRPGs. Thank you for making this video!!! I am really curious about Goblin Slayer and Banchou Tactics as I liked friends of Ringo Ishikawa!! It reminds me of those Kunio-kun games.
Unicorn Overlord have been on my wishlist for many months now, it looks gorgeous and probably will have a pretty decent story, engaging combat mechanics, etc. Very looking forward to this one 😊
@@tw6109 1st departure is pretty good. Short for a jrpg but sweet. About 30 hours or so (could be 40 hours i hear). This game is meant to be played multiple times because of the different characters that you can recruit and 1 playthrough is not enough to get them all. The characters that you have in your party will slightly change the story and ending a bit. There is a few dificulty spike though. Like when you enter a new place the monsters suddenly got very strong. The combat is on the simple side. If there is a mage in your party and he/she does a big spell the combat will pause for a bit untill the magic spell effect is over. Overall i quite like the game. If you've played second story R 1st, then you might feel like First departure feels very clunky. It is a pretty old game after all. 😅 Btw, I also need to load my last save point before the point of no return because i realize i missed a very crucial sidestory/quest for some of my party members. 😅
Riot Forge is disbanding so Bandle Tale will be their last "A League of Legend Story" game it seems. The massive layoffs on big game companies has been crazy.
Kinda a shame I like the idea of crafting a bigger world with rich lore. I'll never play the core League game as I dont care about that moba genre but I have been dabbling with these games.
@@ataridc These spinoff games themselves have good ratings but they just didn't sell enough to make Riot Forge any money. I guess for now they want to focus more on the projects that were well-received and successful like Arcane on Netflix. They're also still working on their MMO, but it's possible they might be having trouble with its development, especially after laying off some of their talented employees.
In need of an RPG to get lost in for a good long time. Escapism ahoy! Any recommendations outside of these would be greatly appreciated as well, thanks SwitchUp and Community. May all your games be good ones. Cheers Gents!
I'm such a sucker for cozy pixel art games, so Ill be keeping an eye on Bandle Tale. But one of my most anticipated games of 2024 is Unicorn Overlord. Once I got over the wonky title and learned more about it, it is precisely the kind of game I would love. Just hoping it ends up as good as it looks (which is more than likely will)!
Excellent timing, I’m 30 hours into Chained Echoes, so I will soon be in the market for a new grand adventure! Of this lot Bandle Tale, Unicorn Overlord and Saga Emerald look the most appealing to me.
Bar Stella Abyss is one I’ve been waiting for, but unless I’m mistaken, it only comes out in Japan in February and hasn’t even been confirmed yet for a western release.
Oh glorious JRPGs. The Switch is loaded with them, enough to fill a handful of reincarnations. I knew of Unicorn Overlord, that seems great. I will also keep an eye on Banchou Tactics.
Bar tending and dungeon crawling... What's not to like? I'm hoping it's one of those combinations that SHOULDN'T work, but DOES! You know... like banana and crisps...
The final year of Switch new releases (maybe/probably) is starting off with some great looking RPGs. Very excited for Unicorn Overlord. Thanks for highlighting a bunch of quality upcoming releases! Appreciate all the work.
Shiren the wanderer looks interesting, not my normal game choice but something about it has my attention. I'm so looking forward to Unicorn Overlord, it looks so amazing.
The creator of Eiyuden Chronicles is best known for the Suikoden series, and he recently passed away. Very sad that he'll not get to see the release of his new game, but hopefully it does very well in his honour.
Shiren the Wanderer: ToF and the DoF added mechanics that made the routine less frustrating and more fun. You could keep your best weapon as well as have a storage area filled to the brim with scrolls or healing items back in town so you weren’t starting with nothing. I’d go back to town if I got something good just to store it for later. And of course you dump your money in the bank so you don’t lose it. The early games were much more severe where you started with practically nothing. Progression was much harder. I’m guessing this new one will keep or improve on the loop. I love the Shiren games and will definitely get the new one!
The tactical rpg genre is getting some serious representation on switch these days, I wanna get more into then and I think unicorn overlord will be the game to do it. Great name, love it! Not a huge fan of chibi art style in games, but legend of legacy still looks like a game I'd like to play
Some lovely looking games coming along for a console that is supposed to be nearing it's end of life. Must say that Bandle Tale and SAGA Emerald Beyond are looking like potential pickups for me, if they review well and I hope they do as they both look great.
I heard there is a new real life sims game coming. It is two british gentlemen who do video game reviews. The have the to work, get the kids to and from school, maintain relationship and still write scripts and make videos. I think it is going to be a real big hit in the RGP genre. Like GolfStory. I think it will be Streamer Story...
Man Unicorn Overlord looks super cool but it looks complexed. I’m a huge rpg lover but this one isn’t clicking with me yet. Definitely add on to my wishlist.
One you didn't mention that I know at least is getting a physical release. Xuan Yuan Sword 7. Its an action-rpg I can't recommend the game enough. It tells a beautiful story and the combat is fast, fluid, and fun. Hopefully the port is well polished because it is one of my favorite games of recent years.
I absolutely love RPGs, but have got so little time for them! Still, depending on reviews I can imagine Bar Stella Abyss and Saga Emerald Beyond ending up on my wishlist! 😅
I'm big into turn based rpgs with good story. None of these scream at me, but I'll look into them as they release. Love the videos, keep up the great work!
So much to look forward to here- bandle tale, hundred heroes, unicorn overlord…adding these to the list may overstretch the backlog …I’m really not ready for switch 2 😬
I am looking forward to Goblin Slayer, Unicorn Overlord, Legend of Legacy, Eiyuden Chronicles and Saga Emerald Beyond. I am hoping that I can get all physicals of those.
Eiyuden Chronicle for sure and Unicorn Overlord is a strong maybe. I didn’t know about Bandle Take and would be interested in trying it solely because of the team from Graveyard Keeper. That was a fun game but it did have its issues with slowing down and crashes. Maybe a memory leak?
Some real promising choices here that weren’t previously on my radar. Shanghai summers seems intriguing but I’d like to see more gameplay to get a better idea of mechanics and how they’re employed. Bar Stella also piqued my interest. I really enjoy the hybrid game formula when done well and those are two styles of games I’m drawn to.
It is nice to see games over than unicorn overlord getting some promotion. Don’t get me wrong unicorn overlord will still be my first pick up, but still.

Bar Stella Abyss has me intrigued. Any game based of the Zodiacs or constellations can have so much story to tell. I hope it has lore to journey through but if its casual an easy pick up, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out!
I've enjoyed the Crows Movies, captures the 'spring time of youth' in Might Guy's words. A game with Crows roots is definitely interesting. But Bandle tale looks more visually appetizing to me 😅. I've got my eyes on it now.
An interesting RPG that's gone overlooked by this channel is Thirsty Suitors. I really just want to know how well it runs on switch, hoping it gets covered on one of the sales vids atleast if not on the RPG themed vids like this

I wish Fallout 4 or similar releases on handheld, Fallout 76 wouldn't be hard-to-port, but it's packed and might be too large of a work. Praise Skyrim and I'll continue believing.
Bandle Tale, I've been waiting for it for a while. But with Riot Forge sunsetting I doubt it will get much post launch support ...and I'm trying to think of any farm sim that was golden on launch. But...I want to believe...
I think there's no reason for lazy bear and Riot not to provide post launch support for this game. Riot is simply removing their Riot Forge team, which means they will stop partnering with indie studios, canceling the future projects and spin-off games based on their League of Legends IP. Plus, lazy bear can handle the game support on their end with Riot only providing assistance.
Thanks again, Gents. I’m definitely looking forward to Bandle Tale! Graveyard Keeper is one of my favorites on the Switch as well. I’m also a bit intrigued by Bar Stella, and EIYUDEN.
