    I absolutely loved how real this was!! It's easy to get too consumed by a diet and not enjoy life as a result. I loved your message that you should have goals, work hard, and aim to be healthy but also practice forgiveness with yourself. Because what's life without a pizza with friends, a beer on the beach, or an ice cream cone on a summer day?!

    I honestly love this video! It is so inspiring. I was once so skinny and was so unhappy about how skinny I look. Not toned but skinny. I used to need to wear baggy clothes so that I look "bigger". So I decided to got to the gym a year ago and I am so happy that I decided to just go for it and be consistent. I learnt almost everything from body building websites and youtube videos, and some help from friends. And after a year, I feel so much healthier, so much more confident and I don't look "gaunt" anymore. It really changed how I feel about myself! It is crazy how much happier I am now! Start now if you're not happy about your body or your health! Keep going everyone! :)

    I'm glad you talked about eating disorders in men! It's rarely talked about and often considered "shameful," but you handled it respectfully and intelligently, and that's really important. So thank you!

    What a great video! I had an eating disorder for many years (anorexia and then bulimia). My weight has been way too low and also way too high. After much therapy I've been able to take control of my life and start eating right and exercising in a way that is good for me. I'm training to run my second marathon now and I feel healthier and stronger than ever!

    Shit. This really actually made me think about what I'm eating- or what I'm not. The guilt I associate with like fat and carbs does impact my life- especially the eating out with friends thing, that hit me very fucking hard. Shit.

  • @seancowman9227

    This video is so great, thank you. Hearing what Marcus has gone through actually really helped me understand more about it all. In June 2015 I weighed 18 stone 3 pounds and by Christmas 2015 I weighed 12 stone 2 pounds. I remember noticing that Marcus had lost weight and actually it inspired me to do the same. Last June I stood on a weighing scales and I felt sick. So I started swimming every morning and I lost weight very quickly. I used to not go out with friends to eat and not eat anything but three meals a day. I used to be very strict and I would get very worked up if I missed a workout. Family members would come up to me every so often and tell me that I looked gaunt. Whenever I heard them say that I'd get very annoyed and just think they're being rude. But now I've calmed down quite a bit and I allow myself to have a treat every so often and if I miss a workout I just make sure to do one the next day. Right now, I'm very happy with what I've done so thank you Marcus.

    What really gets me down his how long it'll take to get any results. I'm not sure I could stay dedicated for years and years if it takes that long to get results. Diets also feels really difficult to keep as I don't cook for myself.

    • @TheLeanMachines
      @TheLeanMachines  8 років тому +13

      +Alex Jones results don't take that long to see, it comes down to consistency and finding an activity you enjoy, this will help you stay motivated

    • @BritishArmyTributes

      Gym long term is not for everyone, make or find a suitable plan online that suits your ability level and stick to it for 6-8 wks. Only take time off if you're ill, if you just don't feel it on the day, go along to the gym and give it a go anyway
      You might find it clicks with you or you might find that it doesn't, just try and give it a good shot
      Hope you can join me and the hundreds of thousands of others for the long term fitness journey!

    • @AlexJones-qf7rw
      @AlexJones-qf7rw 8 років тому

      +Richard Handler Considering I've never trained ever in my life my ability level is probably really low. I'm struggling with motivation on a daily basis.

    • @BritishArmyTributes
      @BritishArmyTributes 8 років тому

      +Alex Jones Low ability or not, we all started as beginners with limited knowledge! If you can find a partner to train with that could be beneficial as you have someone to assist you along the way. If they're a beginner, they can start exploring with you and if they're more advanced they can show you the techniques and help motivate you
      If you don't have access to a partner, it can be hard to be self motivated but it is definitely doable. I started out alone and the thing that helped me the most was setting out goals and reasons why I wanted to start. I set a realistic weight gain goal and noted down my progress as I saw it. I started as I was too skinny and I wanted to fill out and seeing the results kept me motivated - it became so much more than something I did just to see gains, I found enjoyment and happiness in the gym.
      Gains aren't too hard to come by, especially if you're just starting out, you'll get newbie gains within maybe 4 weeks and that can be the spur you need to keep it going
      Let me know how it goes if you decide to pursue it!

    I'm a footballer at Chelsea and this video made me realise how important it is to train in the gym to benefit your life rather than doing it cause you have to, I've had the mindset for the past year or so that I have to go to the gym and do these things and it's meant that I didn't enjoy the training side of things much at all but now I've found a new love for weight training and training hard to benefit me rather than just cause I have to. I guess it's cause I understand that training is a choice and if I want to work hard than I'll get a lot better results than if I force myself to. Thanks lads

    I bloody love your approach to fitness and a 'healthy' diet. Thank you for mentioning over-obsession and eating disorders as well. I loved this. About 2 months ago I realised I had got to the same place Marcus had, from constant exercise in everyday life to fucking nothing. So far it has been constant learning, I have done my best to change my diet where I can (fussy eater, trying to find new foods I like is so bloody hard) and exercise where I can. I started jogging and really began to enjoy it and saw differences, but my knees are just not having it. They were bad throughout my early teenage years and I can't decide whether to strengthen my legs (like I did before with trampolining) and keep going or stop and find another way. I also just got a full time job and have been moving more and eating less because I'm filling my days which has to have helped.
    The main difference I've seen is that I now fit in a size S tshirt (so now I own from S - XL which is odd) and my favourite fucking jeans are now too big, and I went down a belt buckle size thing, but nothing I can see physically yet.

    I defenitly can relate to Marcus about his body transformation except I'm an 18 year old girl but I started working out and changing my diet 3 years ago after being chuuby all my life. I became obsessed with it, started to overtrain and became an anorexic last year. I'm still recovering from it but like they said I still don't allow myself eating like anybody in a restaurant. Recovering from an eating disorder is a much slower process than losing weight !

    Dedication, motivation and times is what i lacking at. I 58 kg but i have a belly fat and excess skin. I used to weight around 80 kg and lost 22 kg in 2 year due to my "smoking diet" and not carb diet. Now i starting to gain back some weight and need help. This is surely motivating but i need guidance . Thank John and Leon

    I really want to start changing my lifestyle for the better. I graduated from uni a year ago and still find myself reverting back to bad eating habits and I no longer have the sports clubs I attended while I was there to fall back on. I find the whole process very intimidating from where I'm standing at the moment but this video was really interesting to watch, and very informative. Thanks lads. :)

    First of all, this guy is HOT!!!! 😍😍 Rawr. Secondly, this is personally one of the most motivational videos I've seen on your channel. I'm in the same place now as he was when he began. It's good to hear about someone's journey and transition and this makes it sound do-able. I've made some small goals and am stoked to get started on my journey. Thanks so much!
