- How to replace your tailgate boot struts on an Audi TT.
The 2 struts that support the boot or tailgate on the mk1 Audi TT tend to fail with age. They have to support a lot of weight so after 20 years they are past their best.
It was suprisingly easy to remove them as there are just 2 clips holding them in place. Replacement struts are around £10 each. So for 5 minutes work you can massively improve the car.
This video is a step by step guide for people who want to give it a go but are reluctant to try. However, you can do this yourself at home very easily!

Yes - that works. A 10 minute job. Make sure you completely remove the clips. I used a yard brush to keep the hatch open on my TT MkII Coupé.
Sounds a great security measure to ensure it stays up when working in it. 👍

So thats why you've made room in your garage 😆 Sounds like your channel will be getting a boat load more content then! Good to know these struts are cheap. Mine don't seem bad yet, but I don't fear them going now

tailgate on a V6 weighs about 18 tons due to the rear spoiler hahahahahahahaha another great "how to" video, very useful.

Thanks Bob. I bought some new caps off eBay when I 1st bought the car. Very naively purchased by me! They were plastic and frankly, look awful. I have thought about restoring mine somehow. If you look on some of my earlier videos you can see them sitting on the shelf, nasty things! I’m sure I will find a use one day! Thanks for your ongoing support of the channel 👍
