I think the producers of Change of Habit tried to make Elvis look 'up to date' with a hairstyle that looked vaguely like the Beatles at the time. I rather liked it in that movie, which I absolutely loved, by the way. Those are two gorgeous books! Your comment about the way Tom Jones is looking at Elvis, absolutely awestruck, resonated with me. I love looking at photos of Elvis with other people in the picture - whether it be other famous people, his band, entourage, or fans - they all look mesmerised. I can't help comparing every man with Elvis in any photos - suddenly they all look so ordinary, even if they are considered good looking on their own. Elvis was unbelievably handsome. When I saw him on stage, the atmosphere was electric, it was like God himself was there
Those are great book I glad that they spotlighted this movie I really like elvis later movies I feel they show more of a serious what elvis great actor all his movies really great thank you for sharing this
You have a knack for doing these episodes. Enjoyable and informative in a different light. I always wondered why the bass in Change of habit, movie version was replaced by Carol Kaye's. Wich is awesome, the way she plays it!! Wishing you a good week.😸
Thank you, always appreciate your support 👍🏻 yes agree the bass playing is great on it, in fact it's right up there as one of my all-time fave tracks, it has a real groove and great lyrics too. Have a fab week yourself 🙂
Hi, Sean. Nice presentation and lovely books. I never knew the movie was originally intended as a Mary Tyler Moore movie. I wonder how she felt when she learned she would only be the co-star. I'm sure Elvis charmed her anyway. Speaking of bad hair days, I'm not keen on the cover photo for Let's Be Friends. What's with the floppy fringe?
Thanks David, I reckon you're spot on, he would have turned on that charm and made everything ok. Interesting, I'd never thought of the LBF cover as a bad hair day moment, for me Pot Luck will always hold the bad hair crown, but a couple of minor missteps in over 20 years is a pretty impressive track record by anyone's standards 🙂
Love the 2nd book mate , really good view of what Elvis was doing in 69 . I love change of habit ,real shame these sort of roles didn't come earlier as I believe it was the right direction for where Elvis himself wanted to end up as a actor . But by 69 it was too late
Hi Paul, yes I agree, but then I guess by then he'd stopped caring about the kind of roles he was getting, because his focus was looking forward to getting back to the concert stage
Have mixed views on this film. Some of the scenes were awkward and some of the songs were forgettable. Elvis was a good actor, but he could have made serious films. Shame he wasn't given the chance. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Nice books, but seen many of these photos.

You definitely get the sense that his focus was already elsewhere by then
