    I remember getting taught this in PE at school! Nobody liked it because it meant everybody was touching each other, especially when the boys had to put their the girls waist, most of us hovered our hands away from each other so as not to make any contact with anyone else.

    If you are ceilidh-dance curious, give it a try ! It is physically impossible to feel miserable when doing these dances. VERY aerobic and (probably) top for Peripheral Insulin Clearance and Mental Health ! GO ! FOR ! IT ! ! !

    When you are ooffered an opportunity to dance in this kind of venue, if you can do it, go for it. You may be appreciated for participating and interacting with the local community.

    Yes, great energy alright. I used to love it - and still do. Done it 100 times and more. I feel sorry for the poor lad who just can''t work it out at all - just a case of some people have rhythm in them ... but good for him going to the end.

      @@1507l690 I'm watching this again, and I agree. They were very good right from the start, whereas the other couple needed time to warm up. They got the OUTSIDE feet doing the heel-toe-heel-toe correct.

    This is not the Military two step, in any shape sense or form. It's totally garish.

    • @rbr747
      @rbr747  3 роки тому +5

      I suppose different people have different standards for everything. This is just a local East Lothian ceilidh with band members who have performed live with Steve Wonder for President Clinton and got their best song to be the star of the show in a major Holywood movie.

      @@rbr747 performing with Stevie Wonder or getting a song into a Hollywood movie, is not in dispute. I am senior Classical sequence(Old Time) dancer, I have danced the Military two step at championship level. I have also seen it done in Old Time Dances and it was not butchered like this. The walks, points and the Pas de Valse have been left out. As for standards there are none present.

    • @johnyoung6900
      @johnyoung6900 3 роки тому +10

      This isn’t an episode of “Strictly”, just a family Christmas ceilidh dance where everyone friend or relative is having…FUN! Pas de valse?🤣 Critics. Tcha!

    • @paulathomas.graham7693
      @paulathomas.graham7693 3 роки тому

      @@johnyoung6900 who mentioned strictly? Not me personally I prefer the old Come Dancing show which was purely about Dancing. I simply stated it's not the Military two step, which is a classical sequence (Old Time ) dance, not a Ceilidh dance. Yes the Pas de Valse is missing, clearly you know nothing about Classical sequence (Old Time) Dancing.

    • @johnyoung6900

      @@paulathomas.graham7693 I can guarantee you that no one there knows anything about, “classical sequence (Old Time) Dancing”, but we do know how to enjoy ourselves and that’s the essence of a ceilidh. Claim it as your own if you wish but every ceilidh I’ve been involved in since primary has included it and boo hiss if it doesn’t meet your competition standards. Butchered, garish…surely that’s a bit harsh?
