That happens with a lot of movies and shows we loved as a child. I loved the TV Lost in Space-and now completely understand why my mother found it unwatchable. The acting was terrible, the sets cheap, the script cheesy, etc. The Addams Family TV show comes across as corny as are Bewitched (Samantha just wants to be a housewife?) and I Dream of Jeannie. Dramas and adventure programs I used to love like the Untouchables, Dragnet, Zorro, and the Man From U.N.C.L.E. are overacted and badly produced. Can’t stand the Jerry Lewis movies, Danny Kaye movies, and Hope/Crosby Road pictures that I used to find so funny. This film is like taking 5-6 different premises for an Addams Family episode, and then randomly splicing them together while also cutting out the ending for each episode. This also extends to the characters themselves, everyone feels like they came from different universes and have little chemistry, which diminishes however good they are in a vacuum (the portrayal of Fester is unapologetically terrible though, he’s just completely directionless the whole time).
I just finished watching the 1991 and 1993 movies which are amazing. Now I here and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m only sticking this out for Tim Curry.

Oh yea, didn't think of it till you said it. There are several other odes to movies too such as when Granny axes the door & puts her face through the hole like Nicholson in The Shining. Also the couple who ends up at the Addams' house after they get shocked, the woman looks like the bride of Frankenstein's monster. I'm sure there's more I missed.
This was my introduction to the Addams's as a child. I remember being so happy to get the VHS of it. I knew of the show, and maybe have seen a few episodes - but that is too far back to remember. I didn't care who was Gomez, Wednesday, Morticia, or the rest of the cast was portrayed by. This was the Addams Family then and it still is an honest portrayal of the Addams Family now. The jokes may fall flat at times but they are still worth a chuckle to ones self.
to be fair, how could anyone expect this to be as good as the first two? Raul Julia passed away, the child actors were a lot older and this was probably with a new director. I think they did their best
Sadly the director was kinda forced to imitate the first two movies and the classic show while he planned to do something like the Coen brothers with the Addams, so that's why this one looks a little bit different in tone. Also Saban even destroyed the director's idea to a great opening credits by including Strate Vocalz to sing the theme song without his knowledge
Christina Ricci was 18, & Jimmy Workman nearly 18 on October 4th, were considered too old to reprise their roles as Wednesday and Pugsley Addams. Raul Julia died of stomach cancer on October 24th, 1994
Saban (The guy who owned the Power Rangers in the 90s) wanted it to be more Kid friendly, and we all know what that means . . . Replace all the gothic edgy stuff with corny kid friendly fart and bugger jokes. 🥸
I don't think the cast is the issue. It's the writers, producers and director that made this stink to high heaven. It's really a first rate cast in movie written by folks who gave us Carnosaur 3.
Raul Julia died in 1994 so he wouldn’t have been able to be in the movie Christina Ricci and Jimmy Workman were already 18 at the time. Gomez And Morticia we the only good cast members the rest of the cast just made the movie really bad.
yes they are I have seen every Addams family movie or tv show I have seen good I have seen bad but this is how I see this movie not good choices for the actors for genomes, geandmama, mortica, pugsly and uncle fester the actor for Wednesday was from 1997-1998s Addams family remake of the tv she and the actor for lurch was from 1991 Addams family movie bad music disregarding ever thing that Addams family hates like the SUN or dogs even if demon how can you make a movie when nothing is wright in it they at lest could have made it better with doing research on the Addams family I forced my self to watch this it was a hard 1hour 25minute and 48seconds of my life
The original series portrayed them as a completely normal happy family (by their terms, anyway), and completely oblivious to why anyone would find them strange. They didn't think they were strange, they didn't think they were abnormal, so they wouldn't diagnose an illness as becoming normal. There was a little bit of goofiness common in sitcoms of the time. The first couple of movies played it completely straight. Gomez's exuberance was sincere as was Mortician morose. The rest of the world was shown as twisted in comparison to their sincerity. When Morticia and Gomez wax poetic about dying together you believe it's their fondest dream. This film has less sincerity than a cartoon. They seem like they're trying to be dark, trying really hard. It ruins the dynamic.
Also, they seem to be following the continuity of the previous films since Fester is Gomez's brother, and use musical cues from the other films. And we know how close the extended Addams family is from the first movie. Same with the original series. The Addams have a large family that often visits. The whole premise is flawed. It's been continuously established that they know there whole family and remain close to the living and dead members. Not to mention, The Addams have never been anything but hospitable. They'd scare people by being themselves, but they'd never actually attack or chase guests. Instead, they after them every comfort and kindness at their disposal. It's always misconstrued, but that's different than chasing with an ax. They also don't really engage in vengeance, and especially not vindictive behavior. Especially Gomez, he's usually oblivious to malice (Morticia catches on more quickly) he sees most things as being in good fun. He wouldn't put someone in an electric chair to hurt them, that's not how his mind works.
This movie isnt connected to the other two it just takes ideas. Its really a pilot for a tv series that came called the new addams family. It lasted one episode longer then the original.
This Morticia lacks the calm and elegant look that the 2 past Morticias had. Both Carolyn Jones from the original 60's series and Anjelica Huston were graciously and subtly sexy. They have this sense of exoticness without trying to be so different. Watching this almost feels like it's a parody. The characters have no depth, no richness in them. And worst of all, there is no chemistry AT ALL between Gomez and Morticia. I'm sorry this is intolerable.
Many people think this is the sequel to Addams Family Values, but technically speaking it’s not. I get why people think it is, due to the fact it came during the 90’s, just like the Paramount films. This film was originally going to be the sequel, but instead became the backdoor pilot for The New Addams Family tv series. I think in the original script for the movie two relatives of the family (probably cousins) were gonna visit, and they were going to be the ones who had the illness, due to the fact that Gomez and Fester’s parents were dead in the Paramount films (if that’s the case more than likely their grandparents probably died too). Also I think in the original script Pubert was going to be the one taking Pugsley’s role in the film, with him having the crush on Gina, instead of Pugsley. But due to Angelica Houston, Christopher Lloyd, Christina Ricci, and Jimmy Workman refusing to reprise their roles, out of respect for Raul Julia, the film was rewritten with Gomez and Fester’s grandparents, and no Pubert. Now does that answer everyone’s confusion or not ?
like at least the actors are at least doing their best and its obvious they're putting in work, but just the script... good actors cant save a badly written movie. better than the damn animated one that was terrible
Thing, Lurch and Tim Curry are what got me through this movie even though I miss the Spanish-Italian accent Gomez has but Tim tried his best, Ok I also kinda like this Wednesday.
I wouldn't be afraid to bet Tim Curry could've made the character a thousand times better if they'd let him design the script and didn't try and make it os kid friendly. I mean come on where si the classic passion of Gomez and Morticia??? Would love to see a newer version redone with him and better actors. Though you can never go wrong with lurch.
I watched both of them on Netflix and my Brother told me there was a third one and I came here it crushed my childhood by how badly these roles are portrayed
Is nobody gonna to talk about how incredibly strong Philip is for lifting and carrying Gomez over his head and dragging him across the table? Is Philip and the actor playing him the strongest person in the world?
+Kookie Chips Well.....Gomez can be different (I will still miss him ), but MORTICIA😡😡😡😡HOW Could They CHANGE HER 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡I'm mad😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿
To be fair, a lot of good actors can play Gomez . I met Christopher Lloyd and he still has what it takes to play Fester but he's not as energetic in real life. Angelica doesn't age so i could see her returning. Lurch returned for this so they can still get him. So now we'd have to deal with the kids. The'd either could get them to play played by the actors as adults to the sequel which would be good but maybe someone one game of thrones can replace them or how about Asa Butterflied as Pugsley and Elle Fanning as Wednesday? So i think we can still get them back.
this casting is all wrong. morticia looks like some alien stole her skin. she looks like mars attack. festers just plain stupid. wednesday is as weird as mortice, but her character is so enjoyable either way. gomez gets bored of his showboating, and is almost short when dealing with people?! ya right…but gomez almost holds it together, then you get a stupid knife fight, only consisting of back hand springs..no swords?!. i liked the grandma and cousin ed. those were the two characters that were proper. overall, this story would have been better suited for the 1990 addam's family cast. i found family values to be a sad sequel, with some funny parts. you don't get too many actresses like ricci to pull off the part so well at such a young age.
Gea SJ she's my favorite too, but she wasn't the only great character. lets face it. this movie was a hollywood re-adaptation. an attempt to change the clever quality the real addam's have.
I felt the same way. I actually paused it during the whole mailman running opening gag to go make sure this was really The Addams Family Reunion. I can't believe anybody allowed this to be released.
Oh the horror, it's dreadful! I like it...cara mia! Compared to most other people the Addams come across, they're pretty normal. Always looked up to Fester and Gomez, or atleast the characters they portray, but i love Fester the most, i remember tuning in to the Tv series just to get to see him. Too bad i'll never meet someone like Morticia, i tend to run into Debby's :(
honestly this girl will never replace Christina Ricci she was amazing in the first 2 movies. she portrayed Wednesday perfectly, this girl is trying to hard to be dark and mysterious. Christina Ricci didn’t even blink a eye while acting Wednesday. In my personal opinion Christina Ricci should of stared in more movies as a child actor, she was amazing. This movie is a disgrace to the Addams family
I like it, no one can be the originals, but it's always fun to watch a take on them. I think this is 80's, it's more like the movies, eg: fester is Gomez's brother, in the series Fester is the Frumps sisters, Mortica and Ophelia uncle,
They over do it with the ( we're a wierd family so everything we do is opposite) jokes, but the alzheimer making the grandparents act like normal people, I admit is really funny lolol
In a perfect world the third Addams Family movie would have starred a still-living Raul Julia and had Tim Curry as a villain rather than the worst Gomez of all time.
Worst Gomez of all time? I’ll admit that I think Tim Curry is playing his archetype here rather than Gomez, but it’s nowhere near the nails-on-chalkboard that is Lennie Weinrib’s Gomez.
@@johnclark926 In defense of myself, I only had live action iterations of Gomez in mind. If we include cartoon depictions then yes, you are absolutely right.
I'm looking for this part in some sort of Adam's family something: Gomez: Look at her. I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss. Gomez: [Morticia wakes up] Unhappy, darling? Morticia: Oh, yes. Yes completely. [Gomez sits] Morticia: Gomez... Sun. Il me perce comme un poignard. Gomez: Oh, Tish. That's French. Morticia: Oui. Gomez: Cara mia. [kisses Morticia's hand] Gomez: En garde, Monsieur Soleil! Morticia: Gomez... Gomez: Querida? Morticia: Last night, you were unhinged. You were like some desperate howling demon. You frightened me. Do it again. anybody help me out?
The new addams family was a sequel to this movie which was a back door pilot for it.The only returning cast member was the wensday actor. That show was ok
I Like wednesday , Lurch and fester is nice crazy a Bit too mutch ...gomez is OK Lurch is nice the Story Here is Bad its a TV movie Not a Cinema Film thats different
In the first five minutes I can already tell you what's wrong: 1. Terrible direction 2. Over-the-top camera work 3. Bad acting 4. Bad writing 5. Horrendous effects 6. Tim Curry having bottom-billing as Gomez 7. An overall simplistic portrayal of what the Addams Family actually is 8. Why is Lurch playing a violin? Where did his Krupnik go?
Why didn't they make a movie with the original cast! I love the addams family theme and no other actor can beat the old cast especially angelica houston and christina ricci!
I think we should all take a moment to appreciate Tim Curry as always doing his best. No matter what he's in, he *will* give it his all.
He’s the male Joan Crawford.
How do you do, I see you met my friendly handyman
Not his best performance by a long shot.

The remade TV show answered it but it's so awful i'd feel bad for suggesting you'd watch it.
@@fozzieatdetourbillnye5514 what happened???
"Our car broke down, could we use your phone?" Remind you of Rocky Horror Picture Show anyone?
Literally yes XD
There's a liiiiiiight...
Is it me or wensday is cute
Omg yea
Oh no no no this is not right at all..... What happened to the old characters
I want them as well. I miss them so much🙁😓😰😨😪😥😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭👿👺💀I WANT THEM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Kalina Daskalova Who doesn't? But too bad, they're way too old now and the actor who played Gomez is dead 😞
+Kookie Chips Well.....Gomez can be different (I will still miss him ), but MORTICIA😡😡😡😡HOW Could They CHANGE HER 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡I'm mad😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿👿
+Kalina Daskalova Morticia looks unrecognizable now too she overdid surgery
+Bo Huggabee I just don't feel the new Wednesday :(
Gea SJ i agree
Gea SJ she's my favorite too, but she wasn't the only great character. lets face it. this movie was a hollywood re-adaptation. an attempt to change the clever quality the real addam's have.
how could you
😩😡😈😤😣
You know what, everyone’s saying how the old Addams were better, but we’ve got to deal with Cats 2019 now so we should shut up.
You 1st lol.
About 3 minutes in and I haven't been this uncomfortable in so long ... wtf
Too bad i'll never meet someone like Morticia, i tend to run into Debby's :(
what is this
this is not the addams family
even the addams family from the series are better
I’m pretty sure it’s a wierd version someone made of it
honestly this girl will never replace Christina Ricci she was amazing in the first 2 movies. she portrayed Wednesday perfectly, this girl is trying to hard to be dark and mysterious. Christina Ricci didn’t even blink a eye while acting Wednesday. In my personal opinion Christina Ricci should of stared in more movies as a child actor, she was amazing. This movie is a disgrace to the Addams family
1:07:55 here’s granny! Easily the funniest line in this whole disaster of a movie
The Shining (1980 movie) reference anyone?
Yep
I like it, no one can be the originals, but it's always fun to watch a take on them. I think this is 80's, it's more like the movies, eg: fester is Gomez's brother, in the series Fester is the Frumps sisters, Mortica and Ophelia uncle,
I'm 3 minutes in and I'm like noooooooooooooo
Me too!😒
me too, this is kind of a train wreck, it’s as.the whole team missed the humor and wit of the material. They just went bigger and broader
3:00
Ikr
can we have 1991 and 1993 addams family back? WE NEED THEM RIGHT NOW
43:20 That may have been the only moment in this whole movie that felt like an "Addams Family" moment.
*Sees the film* Me: WHO TF ARE THOSE
This one was obviously made after the 1960s tv series more than the first 2 movies
I love this movie!
Holy shit who wrote this shit. Who directed it and who approved it?
They over do it with the ( we're a wierd family so everything we do is opposite) jokes, but the alzheimer making the grandparents act like normal people, I admit is really funny lolol
Wooooowwwwwww what was their production budget? A banana?
13:43 lurch is me watching this movie
Lol 😁
Lol .!!.
In a perfect world the third Addams Family movie would have starred a still-living Raul Julia and had Tim Curry as a villain rather than the worst Gomez of all time.
12'_________________________
Worst Gomez of all time? I’ll admit that I think Tim Curry is playing his archetype here rather than Gomez, but it’s nowhere near the nails-on-chalkboard that is Lennie Weinrib’s Gomez.
@@johnclark926 In defense of myself, I only had live action iterations of Gomez in mind. If we include cartoon depictions then yes, you are absolutely right.
wow...... the CGI in this is painful to watch 0_o
4:48 and you can skip it! 😎
I mean it's a 90s straight to video movie...what did you expect?
@Matthew Flynn uhh not all cgi is bad, there is some good cgi out there, just depends on the budget
@@TV247 actually this was staright to t.v. movie
😍🌹💖🔪I love Adams family movie 🎥 🥰

Am I the only one who really likes the movie?

My heart is hurt💔
I love how Lurch is still in this version, I like Tim Curry but no. I remember watching this as a kid and i still think no.

I'm looking for this part in some sort of Adam's family something:
Gomez: Look at her. I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss.
Gomez: [Morticia wakes up] Unhappy, darling?
Morticia: Oh, yes. Yes completely.
[Gomez sits]
Morticia: Gomez... Sun. Il me perce comme un poignard.
Gomez: Oh, Tish. That's French.
Morticia: Oui.
Gomez: Cara mia.
[kisses Morticia's hand]
Gomez: En garde, Monsieur Soleil!
Morticia: Gomez...
Gomez: Querida?
Morticia: Last night, you were unhinged. You were like some desperate howling demon. You frightened me. Do it again.
anybody help me out?
The part you're looking for is in the first movie of the Addams family
not Cher, Anjelica Huston.
+Nadine V I know, they looked alike.
+Nadine V thanks guys
The new addams family was a sequel to this movie which was a back door pilot for it.The only returning cast member was the wensday actor. That show was ok
Addams family💗🎥 miss the older actors
@@lisamcdonald1014 they don’t miss you
I used to like this when I was younger... I hate my younger self lol!
I love the scene when gomez talkes to the crocodile while he tryes to eat the mail man gomez jest leaving him there 😂😂
Raul Julia, Angelica Houston, Christopher Lloyd, Christina Ricci, none of them are in this movie.
They've all been replaced by Tim Curry...
Yeah there alot better actors for the movie
Hey Erik, I graduated high school in July, 1989. What do you think of them apples?...
id pay good money to see curry play all of those roles
I Like wednesday
, Lurch and fester is nice crazy a Bit too mutch ...gomez is OK Lurch is nice the Story Here is Bad its a TV movie Not a Cinema Film thats different
Okay but if tim curry played every character in this film it'd be a million times better
Grew up watching the Addams family movies as a kid, I never ever heard of this trash, wow.
is this a parody? I'm not feeling this movie at all :/
PatroncitaLaborde I wish
Tim Curry made a fantastic Gomez. Of course, every role he plays is fantastic!
Didn't he play Gomez in the musical too?
I saw “Saban Entertainment” and instantly wanted the Beetleborg characters to show up.
Lol I felt that vibe from this movie.
Same here
In the first five minutes I can already tell you what's wrong:
1. Terrible direction
2. Over-the-top camera work
3. Bad acting
4. Bad writing
5. Horrendous effects
6. Tim Curry having bottom-billing as Gomez
7. An overall simplistic portrayal of what the Addams Family actually is
8. Why is Lurch playing a violin? Where did his Krupnik go?
:) I like this pls tell me when are you watching I am watching at December 12
Bhanu Ghimiray you're a liar. You posted this comment one day ago and it's November. 😑
LOVE THIS OMG I LOVVVVVVEEEEEEEE THIS!!!!!!!!
Why didn't they make a movie with the original cast! I love the addams family theme and no other actor can beat the old cast especially angelica houston and christina ricci!
Technically the cast your thinking of isn’t the original and Raul Julia died after the second one
….you mean with a couple of 18 year olds playing young kids and a dead actor?
Lurch is the same actor at least.
Love this movie
i miss this movie..........
I love Tim Curry, but no....just...noo....
Same! I love to watch Tim Curry but this made my brain hurt.
Tim curry is the best thing about this movie
sorry i dont like that cast.... even thow i like tim curry..
Flux Fox same :(
The tall actor portraying Lurch is the only original cast member from the two Raul Julia Addams Family movies from the early 90s.
oh my god....my heart is burning... its painful
Yep so painful
like your face

I love you ❣❤😘
who are these imposters ...
what is this bullshit? this film should never have been made, it's an offense to the Addams family and it's an offense to Tim Curry.
I agree
This was made as a pilot for the new tv series the new addams family it lasted one episode longer then the original.
No its not
