The speed in which it charges is a game changer in a critical situation. I saw Costco had them on sale for a pretty good deal. I have no idea how to protect an active solar setup. I heard the only thing that would effect a solar panel is not the panels itself but that thing that is connected to the batteries and the solar panels don't know what it's called but it powers the batteries.
Sometimes you can find used surplus NEMA metallic enclosures in surplus shops. If they are not to perforated with sealing bushings or conduit terminators in most of the sides you can buy chrome plated steel knockout plugs to seal the holes. A layer of aluminum tape on both sides any you are good to go. BTW, in the Lindgren screen rooms we used in the paging repair center I worked at there is actually a power pass through bulkhead that eliminates RF and probably an EMP. We were near several TV transmitter sites and radio station transmitters and we were able to have power within the screen room without ingress of stray RF.

What kind of radio? You should use a strong AM radio signal. When that goes away, it shows at least 50db shielding, which should be enough. Cell phones, 2 way radios etc... have too strong of a signal.

It did have to take 2d place to the whole house EMP because I had to replace my furnace/AC this past winter that cost a considerable amount and in protecting that investment the cages slipped on the list but they are not last. Car and truck, individual ferrite devices, EMP bags are next on the list.

I line them with plastic buckets. The large one contains a portable power station with platic housing. I find it much cleaner and easier that way, rather than cardboard. I tried cardboard back in 2015 and didnt care for it.

Im in the middle of doing another video regarding faraday cages, but this time I stress how bad it can get and the number of people that are expected to die. I bring up that although important, a faraday cage should be on the bottom of your to do list. I explain what I mean...
Great video...I do pretty much the same thing with an addition. It came about that when I was working on the trash can that a question popped in my mind...what if we have a fire and the house burns?? So I decided to line the can with a fire proof ceramic fiber blanket. It works well. I've decided to make a bigger trash can version about a 35 gallon size. Have you done anything about you car and whole house? I have just added an EMP Shield to my house and the car and truck will be next.
I would stuff that 10 gallon can with rechargeable usb flashlights and crank/ solar radios & more to fill up the spaces between the can and that storage bag.
This is all good information and tips but I use my ecoflow river pro daily. It won't be in a container protected should we be hit by an EMP all of a sudden. Any ideas?
I have a few ecoflows and store 2 in cages. Unless you need it for medical reasons, a solar generator is the last thing to worry about if an EMP hits, anyway. 80% to 90% population would not survive if the US lost power for a month. I would make sure you keep ham radios and other things... in a cage. Load up on basics... food, water, defense, etc.. and be ready to leave if you are in the city.

A microwave makes a great fast feraday cage . Providing it has a good seel . Then take power cord out . Expose corf screws then put in a good grounding wire to a grounding steak . Di not ground to house ground . Microw wave and magnetic emo are cousins . This will let you sield small items . . Yes for big items i use the garbage can you soeak of . I use flex seal spray to coat inside vrs static electrixity . Seal can like you say . . A large can done i put a second small can inside. . Use large ammo cans for solor panels . ( From military surplus stores ) .
I have a question, Would an insulated lunch sack/cooler with that silver foil type lining work to protect your Items? The reason I ask is because they make some that look like a purse (I have one), and I thought it would work nice to protect your phone while out and about. Also I was wondering the same for The silver insulation stuff you get in rolls that looks like bubble wrap?
I have seen those. My wife uses one when shopping for meats etc... I tested mine about a year ago, and it did not work. You might try testing yours like I do in video. Let me know how it works out.
Do you plan to use the metal tape to seal the lid to the frame of the can? It would make a better, more continuous shield, would it not? Also, perhaps grounding the cans would improve their shielding?
Grounding is not needed. My test shows that it seals fine without tape for lid. Also, I want to be able to access my electronics for everyday kind of use and if I had to tape it up, I doubt I would even use it. If you wont be using items, go ahead and tape it up for good measure.
One of my cousins Fractal Burned multiple sheets of 3/8-inch plywood to "panel" a room. He used 120V (USA) house current to do it. NO WATER / baking soda involved. -- One does NOT have to use the High-Voltage (and 'wet' stuff) for it to work.
I see alot of these Faraday cheap made... but the thing is if an EMP bomb blewup several miles above usa people have just less than 2 minutes tops to protect their gear... WHat I am trying to find is specificaly made FARAway set made or DIY Faraway for each item like a Jackery and an Electric bike and cellphones and walkie talkies and EMedder radios and HAM radios ... well for each needed protected item set ready and can be used while EMP waves still stay sagnent that could last days which would mean all items need to be usable and protected at the same time.... and at least last to be able to use and charge for two weeks or longer being each seperately faraday emp proofed.

Im pretty sure the inverter would but not, but Im sure on your other one. Im doing another video on 6 most important items to put in a faraday cage should the worse case emp hit. Stay tuned.
Sure. Use cardboard. Lots of people have done it. Im lazy. I found an easier simple way to do it. All you are doing is trying to keep you metal items from touching the can.
I really dont know. I would have to see it. Sounds like it would work as long as the seal from the lid to the can is metal and not rubber. Just test it. The ring band sounds a little inconvenient though.
If it worked, and if you can get of town fast enough, it may be useful, but I have my doubts it would actually work. You would be better off buying 1972 Bronco.
Would using a simple empty plastic cat litter box, wrapped with aluminum foil on the outside and inside then shielding the inside with pieces of cardboard work good for cell phones and laptop, etc. ?
The Delta pro wont fit. I put my Delta 1300 in the big box. I asked Ecoflow about storing their units on their ends or sides and they said not a good idea.
Can’t I put electronic items I received in the original cardboard boxes inside a galvanized trash can? Keeping in mind to tape the vulnerable areas you showed in the video.

They don’t make a trash can wide enough for that power station. I thought about a large dog kennel. Somehow reinforcing it against EMP or solar flares. That would be large enough for quite a few pieces of electronic gear. I’m just not sure about how to go about building it out.
@@MsJoose59 Correct. The only reason I have lining is so anything I put in with exposed metal will be protected. If you go to the link I have under the description, there is a site where you can buy some fabric to wrap it in which may help.
What good is a power station if all the refrigerators or televisions etc are inoperable due to an emp,,, like having tons of gas with no car… but all is well and good to learn….
An understandable question. A portable power station that is protected can be useful in powering devices that were also protected in a faraday cage. Cages like these would be useful for emp's that are not necessarily life altering events. If the EMP is a life altering event, like eventually killing 90% of the population within a year, then the option of being able to bugout may be necessary. In that case, these wont do much good at all. See my latest video as I address that situation and how to handle it.
so i got the tool box, taped it up and lined it with cardboard on the inside. it doesnt seem to be blocking any signals. can i line the interior with faraday cloth? does that create any issue if i'm using the box to store my bluetti ac200max generator?
Use, like I said in the video, an am radio signal. Watch my updated video on how to make a faraday cage. I explain testing more. By the way, be sure there is a good seal between the lid and box using the same tape or copper. Also where the handles are.

An additional thought concerning a targeted launched EMP..... Be very wary of opening up your cages at the ONSET of an emergency! A discussed tactic is a SECONDARY OR TERTIARY EMP a few days or weeks later to finish off whatever emergency mitigations people or govts pull out after the INITIAL attack and begin using. I would have a primary box to open, and the secondary backup stuff to open weeks later in case this strategy is employed against the US. In the potential situations we are now considering? A little paranoia is a GOOD thing.... lol Think 2 steps ahead!!
Thats what I did. I have a few cages. One is none. Two is one. For example, I have 4 hand held raidios in different cages and I store my desk radio in a cage as well. Also, I have other videos on the topic you may want to watch.
The information is helpful, but what about real life? Who is going to tell us when to take all our stuff apart and stick it in cans? Or do you have extra of everything that you store in faraday cages?
I believe in 1 is none and 2 is 1. I have a couple power stations protected. I have several hand held radios protected etc... and I leave them in the cages. I dont expect to warned by anyone or anything. Having some of theses electronic goodies should be on the bottom of a to do list anyway. Food, water, defense, bug out bag etc... should take priority, and in a major attack, 90% of the population will die within 11 months, experts say. Its about prepping priorities...
They are not connected to the portable power stations. They are for emergency only. As long as disconnected, they shoulf be safe. I also have 1 big one put away.

Build a Faraday shed. Remember that it's called a cage for a reason. You only need to keep the cats out of the bird cage.

Take an am radio and tune in on a strong signal and place inside. If the signal goes away, it is likely going to be fine.

If they are not hooked up, I don't believe you need to protect them. If they are, see Dr Bradley's site. I think he has a ferrites for it.

You need two things. Fire and water. Hunting tools, trapping tools, fishing equipment and first aid are always nice too.

Do you plan to use the metal tape to seal the lid to the frame of the can? It would make a better, more continuous shield, would it not? Also, perhaps grounding the cans would improve their shielding?
Grounding is not needed. My test shows that it seals fine without tape for lid. Also, I want to be able to access my electronics for everyday kind of use and if I had to tape it up, I doubt I would even use it. If you wont be using items, go ahead and tape it up for good measure.

I dont believe you need to protect them if they are not hooked up. If they are hooked uo, you might look into some kind of Ferrite.
One of my cousins Fractal Burned multiple sheets of 3/8-inch plywood to "panel" a room. He used 120V (USA) house current to do it. NO WATER / baking soda involved. -- One does NOT have to use the High-Voltage (and 'wet' stuff) for it to work.

I see alot of these Faraday cheap made... but the thing is if an EMP bomb blewup several miles above usa people have just less than 2 minutes tops to protect their gear... WHat I am trying to find is specificaly made FARAway set made or DIY Faraway for each item like a Jackery and an Electric bike and cellphones and walkie talkies and EMedder radios and HAM radios ... well for each needed protected item set ready and can be used while EMP waves still stay sagnent that could last days which would mean all items need to be usable and protected at the same time.... and at least last to be able to use and charge for two weeks or longer being each seperately faraday emp proofed.

Sure. Use cardboard. Lots of people have done it. Im lazy. I found an easier simple way to do it. All you are doing is trying to keep you metal items from touching the can.

I really dont know. I would have to see it. Sounds like it would work as long as the seal from the lid to the can is metal and not rubber. Just test it. The ring band sounds a little inconvenient though.

You can use cardboard, sure, to line the inside. I would not line foil. Its to keep your metal supplies from contacting metal sides.
Would using a simple empty plastic cat litter box, wrapped with aluminum foil on the outside and inside then shielding the inside with pieces of cardboard work good for cell phones and laptop, etc. ?

Some folks test Faraday protection by putting a cell phone in the can or bag and try calling it to see if a signal gets thru to the phone. Jus sayin ❤

The signal is too strong. If it gets through, it doesnt mean your faraday cage doesnt work.

I just folded over and taped. You may not have to do this. It still seemed to work okay when I tested it without taping it.

They don’t make a trash can wide enough for that power station. I thought about a large dog kennel. Somehow reinforcing it against EMP or solar flares. What good is a power station if all the refrigerators or televisions etc are inoperable due to an emp,,, like having tons of gas with no car… but all is well and good to learn….
An understandable question. A portable power station that is protected can be useful in powering devices that were also protected in a faraday cage. Cages like these would be useful for emp's that are not necessarily life altering events. If the EMP is a life altering event, like eventually killing 90% of the population within a year, then the option of being able to bugout may be necessary. In that case, these wont do much good at all. See my latest video as I address that situation and how to handle it.

so i got the tool box, taped it up and lined it with cardboard on the inside. it doesnt seem to be blocking any signals. can i line the interior with faraday cloth? does that create any issue if i'm using the box to store my bluetti ac200max generator?

Use, like I said in the video, an am radio signal. Watch my updated video on how to make a faraday cage. I explain testing more. By the way, be sure there is a good seal between the lid and box using the same tape or copper. Also where the handles are.

An additional thought concerning a targeted launched EMP.....
Be very wary of opening up your cages at the ONSET of an emergency!
A discussed tactic is a SECONDARY OR TERTIARY EMP a few days or weeks later to finish off whatever emergency mitigations people or govts pull out after the INITIAL attack and begin using.
I would have a primary box to open, and the secondary backup stuff to open weeks later in case this strategy is employed against the US.
In the potential situations we are now considering? A little paranoia is a GOOD thing.... lol Think 2 steps ahead!!
Thats what I did. I have a few cages. One is none. Two is one. For example, I have 4 hand held raidios in different cages and I store my desk radio in a cage as well. Also, I have other videos on the topic you may want to watch.
The information is helpful, but what about real life? Who is going to tell us when to take all our stuff apart and stick it in cans? Or do you have extra of everything that you store in faraday cages?
I believe in 1 is none and 2 is 1. I have a couple power stations protected. I have several hand held radios protected etc... and I leave them in the cages. I dont expect to warned by anyone or anything. Having some of theses electronic goodies should be on the bottom of a to do list anyway. Food, water, defense, bug out bag etc... should take priority, and in a major attack, 90% of the population will die within 11 months, experts say. Its about prepping priorities...
If you are waiting until the government tells you to get ready for some kind of black swan event, you are definitely going to be included in the 90%

I didn't need to.
Without taping the seams with aluminum tape, RF will get in the slot.
I get about 50db protection as it is. No tape needed.

Need more info. Why problem opening it? Turn an am radio on strong signal and put it in safe. If signal goes away, you are probably good to go.
