    Best moments ever in netball: *2 minutes of uncontested shots from 1 foot away while taking 10 seconds to line it up*

    the fact that a lot of these comments are from people who, despite having no idea how netball works in the first place, are shitting on the sport because they expected something "flashier" is really, really sad tbh :/

    • @stacieh799
      @stacieh799 Рік тому +1

      Yeah, I agree. Though the shots aren’t the flashiest, it forces people to find something different about it. In a lot of popular sports like football, soccer, and basketball, the best parts are arguably the goals, and that is great bc a lot of iconic moments have formed from being able to score great goals, but that leaves ppl like mids or especially def in the scorer’s shadows. I definitely believe the best thing abt this sport is thw WAY they get to those goals. The way the defense intercepts a pass, and the turnaround, the crowd cheering loudly. I wish more sports appreciated their def bc sometimes the way ppl defend are better than the goals themselves that are also only shot a like 1-3 feet away. ❤

      @@stacieh799 i completely agree!! when i played netball, i was always GD, so that helped me understand how much tactility and skill it takes to play the more defensive positions. i mean, attacking and getting the goals in for the team also requires a lot of the same, but i think it's important to appreciate the value in defense, especially in the more popular and flashy sports like you mentioned.

    Dear Netball Community. I have some ideas for you to make this more fun. 1. Let the people make some defence. 2) there is an arc there, it could be a 3-point line. 3) Put a backboard 4) Let them dribble...
    Or
    just play the fuckin basketball..

    Definitely some of the best shots in aus netball (one of the reason I can tell is because I play GS and it is actually hard to shoot a perfect shot)

    • @drivingpancake8137
      @drivingpancake8137 4 роки тому +1

      Year it probably is but most of these shot are within of 3 to 5 feet of the basket waht is basecally layup distans. Actually basketball players do this sometimes to warm up. Even I and I am defenitly not a pro can hit ten to twenty of these close shots in a row most of them all net easy. I know the ball to bucket ratio is smaller in netball but I am sure with some training most people can hit at least 90 percent of these shots in practice at least..... You can't say this about a three point shot from 23 feet right? ;) And you also can't argue that this is more difficult and impressive then hitting a 30 feet swish with two players running at you and trying to block it.

    • @bandit.3605
      @bandit.3605 2 роки тому

      i play gs aswell and its literally so hard to shoot a good shot tbh

    • @drivingpancake8137
      @drivingpancake8137 2 роки тому

      @@bandit.3605 To determine if something is really hard I think we have to compare it to something relatively similar we have data to.
      My argument is that hitting a shot in this sport is significantly easier then let's say hitting a three point shot on a basketball court. Me as a amateur in basketball can probably hit 70 percent on three point shots with the majority of them being all net in practice.
      This with decent but not outstanding amounts of practice and being a about average shooter.
      So putting up these numbers is not very impressive.
      But the shots shown in this vid are from much closer distance standing still and without any contest (aka somebody trying to block the ball).
      On those types of shots me as an amateur hooper can hit probably over 95 percent. This makes it a very easy shot. Now ok I get it. The rim is smaller what makes it harder but also lower what makes it easier. So I would say it's probably a little bit harder than a basketball shot from the same distance. But I would say it can still be considered a easy shot in comparison to a three pointer or even a midrange shot.
      So in this logic I wouldn't consider it to be that hard and for anybody who put in a even moderate amounts of practice relatively easy. So these types of shots are not really impressive to me.

    You take basketball strip all the fun and exciting elements from it thro it away and then you get this hight of boringness that is net ball. In one freshman highscool basketball game you will get more highlights and excitement then in this whole Compilation its just facst.

      Driving Pancake okay I get your point but when you play it. IT IS MUCH MORE EXCITING. Yes it can get boring watch but when it’s your team playing it add another level of interest but a opinion is a opinion and I and my fellow netball players have to deal with that

    • @drivingpancake8137
      @drivingpancake8137 4 роки тому

      @@missssssssss104 Of course it's more exciting when you play it yourself like most sports are and I actually played a game that's very similar to net ball in school. (I am a German so we played Korb ball) and i can tell that basketball is just more fun to me. Further more you can't argue that the general puplic and sports fan is on my side.........because basketball is one of the biggest sports in the world with millions of fans and millions of players and i really don't know if netball can say that for itself. This also generates a bigger talent pool which means that the competition is generally much higher and the single player is in most cases more talented because he had to stand out of a really large player base. And really talented players usually make for a more entertaining and exciting game.
      Not saying that the pro netball players aren't good and didn't put in work but just from the rules of chance they're probably not as talented as most NBA or for the sake of it WNBA players.
      Not to say you are not allowed to like you're sport bacause you absolutely are but I think these are just some technical reasons why basketball is just a so much bigger and more popular sport

    • @drivingpancake8137
      @drivingpancake8137 4 роки тому

      @T J Browne Uriarau OK so just because I am a men I shouldn't watch netball. That's sexsims. It's like I would say because you are a woman you are not allowed to watch the men soccer world cup or other sports where a majority of the playersbase are males but wouldn't say that in the slitetest. . And I don't get why any sport should be played by only one gender. When it's fun for a human he should be allowed to watch or play the sport. So everyone should be allowed to critique it as well. And the other comment you obviously liked did a great job to stay polite an reasonable but you with you're last sentence clearly didn't. 🤷‍♂️

    • @drivingpancake8137
      @drivingpancake8137 4 роки тому

      @T J Browne Uriarau Good to have clearence on that.
      But there you have an interesting point. Men would probably don't like it and I think for the majority you are right. And that brings me to my point why I think that basketball is undoubtedly a better sport then netball( you are still allowed to like netball more I am just trying to be objective as possible here) Because basketball has shown to appeal to female male and all they're is in between all over the world in sharp differens to netball where only woman play it professionelly. Both sports follow the same principle of putting a ball in a bucket and Basketball just out competed natball because everyone can like it more easily. Quick ball movement complex offensive and defensive sceems and fast reactions are in both sports equally present but these are the things that even only hardcore basketball/sport fans really enjoy. But dunks 30 foot shots anklebreakers jaw dropping athletesism and so much more are the things that brings in the casuals and the nerds love it too. And these kind of highlights netball just doesn't have and that is it what keeps the most people away from it and this is the reason why netball is a niche sport.
      I hope you can agree with me on that :)
