I can just see as the lyrics "you're not alone" come up, Quote is just using every weapon he's acquired, remembering everyone who's helped him get to this point and counting on him.
This is indeed great. It's just great. The synth, the pressing urgency of it, the strings at the beginning that sound like a movie score soundtrack... It's just incredible.
I'm going to attempt to interpret the meaning of the lyrics: "The darkest night These hopeless days Still we are waiting" This stanza details the day-to-day struggle in the lives of the Mimiga that are persecuted by the Doctor. "The darkest night" As more and more Mimiga are kidnapped, those who remain face the darkest period of their history. "These hopeless days" The Mimiga in Mimiga Town feel despair and helplessness when confronted with the knowledge that they're at the Doctor's nonexistent mercy...and that no one is coming to help them. "Still we are waiting" The Mimiga continue to hold onto hope and wait for someone to rescue them. "To touch the source As all life prays Hope keeps on fading" This stanza covers the race against time to rescue the island and its inhabitants. "To touch the source" The people and Mimiga on the island who oppose the doctor desperately attempt to find the source and origin of his powers as well as his plans for the surface. "As all life prays" All living things on the island wait in silent anticipation, beseeching God for help against the Doctor's overwhelming power. "Hope keeps on fading" As time passes, the Doctor's victory seems more and more certain, and everyone begins to despair. The Mimiga begin to accept the inevitability of their situation and fall into apathy. "As dawn draws near Ignite in me Fire consuming" This stanza is a simple prayer, perhaps uttered by Quote before he embarks on his crusade against the Doctor. "As dawn draws near" Quote's arrival signals a change in the Mimiga's fate. Their future begins to appear brighter as a new age begins and the reign of the Doctor draws to a close. "Ignite in me Fire consuming" The fires of rage, justice, and vengeance burn in Quote's heart when he discover's the injustices the Mimiga have suffered, both from the Doctor and the nations of the surface; it becomes the driving force that motivates Quote to utterly destroy his enemies on his quest to defeat the Doctor. "They try to break The light we bring But still we are moving on" This stanza is about the ineffectual attempts of Quote and Curly's enemies to stop them from liberating the island. "They try to break The light we bring" The Doctor and his allies, as well as the malevolent fauna of the island that are influenced by Ballos' power, strive to destroy Quote and Curly before they can bring change and hope to the island by destroying the Demon Crown. "But still we are moving on" Despite their best efforts, the Doctor, his minions, and Ballos cannot eliminate the armed scout robots and they continue to move inexorably toward their goal. "Fate Killing our time Spending our lives Fighting alone" This stanza is about Quote and Curly's struggle to reunite and reconnect in the face of myriad obstacles. "Fate" As the game progresses, a series of obstacles obstructs Quote's progress. Whether these obstacles are fate or Ballos' doing cannot be known. "Killing our time" Quote is in a coma for 10 years and Curly adopts and cares for the Colons in his absence. "Spending our lives Fighting alone" During those 10 years and for a short period after them, Curly fights to survive in the Sand Zone without Quote. After Quote wakes up, he fights the Doctor by himself until he reunites with Curly. "Faith Filling our souls Willing us fight You're not alone" This stanza is about the effect Quote and Curly's reunion has on them and their attitudes toward the helpless denizens of the Island of Eden. "Faith" With their growing number of allies, Quote, Curly, the Mimigas, and the researchers begin to believe that they can prevail against the Doctor and the cruel cycle that has befallen the island since the Demon Crown's creation. "Filling our souls" As Quote moves forward and makes allies, he gradually recovers the humanity he lost with his memories. Speaking with the elderly Mimiga on the Plantation reveals that Quote and Curly are a minority among the robots sent to the island 10 years ago due to the fact that they have souls of their own. The other robots like them are presumed to have died defending the humans and Mimiga from the hordes of killer robots. "Willing us fight" As the number of Quote's friends on the island increases, so too does his determination to end their suffering and free them from the Doctor's oppression. Near the end of the game, the faith and hope that Quote's heroic deeds inspire in the people he meets motivates them to become directly involved in opposing the doctor, enabling him to reach the throne room to defeat the Doctor and navigate Hell to kill Ballos. "You're not alone" Quote's promise to defend the Mimiga lifts the burden of despair from their shoulders. Consequently, they consider him a messianic figure and Arthur's successor. "Deep in silence Darkness blinds us Will you break these Chains that bind us" This stanza is about the imprisonment of Sue and the Mimiga at the Plantation. "Deep in silence Darkness blinds us" The residents of Mimiga Town languish in darkness, the water dripping from the ceiling of their dank cell the only sound. Well, aside from Mahin stuffing his face. "Will you break these Chains that bind us" All the Mimiga abducted by the Doctor place their hope for freedom in Quote and support him in his battle against the Doctor. "You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone" During the Last Battle, Quote and Curly feel the hope of the entire world spurring them on toward victory. All throughout their journey, it was always them who supported others, always them who had to be strong. But now, the roles are reversed; the encouragement of all the people they met, fought, and befriended echo in their minds and lend them strength for the final fight.
My goodness, I've listened to hundreds of OCR's rearrangments so far(I'll get to them all eventually), but this one really moves me. I haven't even played this game, but only a few times before have my ears been stimulated by such superb sounds. I even want to DL this game now just having heard this. Surely this means that's a job well done! Good stuff, Nutritious. Several times over good stuff.
This has an interesting start, shifts, and then catches again at the minute mark. Shifts again to lyrics, out of the blue. This is well down and i must applaud the song for the time well spent in listening more than once.
Okay, I gotta admit: I'm not normally big on electronic/drum n' bass remixes, but this is just...phenomenal. The rhythms and shifts are very well-done, the spirit of the original is maintained in full, and the lyrics do a great job of saying "the stakes are high, and the pressure's on, but you've come too far to quit now." Top-notch work here, Nutritious. ^_^
I STILL CAN'T STOP LISTENING. EDIT: Three years. It's been three years, and I still keep coming back to this remix. Nutritious, you made one of the best goddamn remixes ever.
the lyrics make so much sense... To touch the source (the core) As all life prays (mimigas concerned about the island) Hope keeps on fading (as you beat the doctor, the island crumbles, it isnt clear if you'll make it) Fate (the inevitablilty of the story) Killing our time Spending our lives Fighting alone (through the game, you have to try accessivly hard to stay with curly, to see her through to the end.)
@MillBeeful Hi Millbee! :) Hey, you gonna finish that Cave Story Let's Play or what? I first found Cave Story years ago and never thought about it again until you started playing it. Dude, you have to finish that series, I can't wait to see how you enjoy the epic story!
You really need to play the game and get to the final boss battle. If you truly have and appreciated the storyline that far, this should make you cry. The lyrics say it all... and are true down to every word.
smashes are supposed to be directional attacks sideways: charged stab from blade upward: slices up in the air with blade, then shoots with polar star lvl 1. (like fox's throws) downward: aims the missles down, and the explosion blasts enemies
Normal Attack: Slice, stab with Blade. Special: Lvl3 Polar Star/Lvl2 Missiles/Lvl1 Nemesis Down Special: Switch Specials (Like with PKMN trainer) Up Special: v0.8 Jetpack (Like R.O.B's) Side Special: Fireballs (You can hold down the button to charge from Lvl1 to 2 to 3.) Final Smash: Equips Spur and v2.0 Jetpack and when Special is pressed, launches full power Spur shot. When Normal Attack pressed, throws Lvl3 Blade. Assist Trophy: Balrog does 3 stomps and then goes away OR Misery uses magic.
I think that, in Quote's Final Smash, Curly must appear and use the rope, so she can be with quote. Then, Quote gets invencibility for a while (Like Wario's Final Smash), and his shots got more powerful. Each time he shoots, he uses the spur in the front (a giant death laser) and in the back, Curly uses the Nemesis. Also, he could use the jetpack v 2.0 while doing that
I think the Final Smash should be kind of like Lucario's only that Quote would be in the center of the field, Curly would be on his backside, and that the Nemesis would pierce through any walls. Either that or he can have something similar to Platinum the Trinity from Blazblue; He can have powered up versions of his main four weapons (Spur, Nemesis, Missiles, and Blade).
True, didn't think about people playing the game that hadn't played Cave Story. Another thing that should be done, thinking about it, is Balrog should be a character, also. Actually, thinking about it, if they put anyone in for how "iconic" they are, they'll probably put in Ballos. I don't know how they'd work in The Core in the story. I'd buy the game if anything related to Cave Story were in it, and I didn't buy, and in fact have hardly played, any of the other games in the SSB series.
That's it. Quote needs to be in the next SSB game wit undead core with this song as a boss. His final smash? Polar star over drive: an attack that attacks everyone with each weapon, whit the last weapon being a polar star that shoot a beam like frank west's Original megabuster attack from Tvs.C
Oh god LOL Quote dressed as Curly. xD I think Curly would be better being an Assist Trophy or a part of his Final Smash. As for Misery, holy FUCK that could work. o: She's one of the main protagonist, and yet there's not really much to spoil about her. I think she would be a good match, along with the other suggestions. :3
(cont.) I've played Melee and Brawl, and if Quote was in Brawl, then for sure The Core would've made sense in Story Mode. At least, I think it would fit in.
the game is a great installment to the dungeon crawler genre. if you have a wii getting it on wii ware is (in my opinion) easier to handle because its not on a keyboard.
Maybe Balrog should be the boss, although that would not only be a plothole (why fight an ally?) but kind of underwhelming (compared to all the other boss battles, I mean). I could see him as an Assist Trophy. I disagree with Ballos, though. You don't find out about him unless you fulfilled all the requirements (which I doubt, unless read upon, that anyone does in their first run through. I for one messed up on my first play through). The Core would be easier to manage in than Ballos.
But that's a bit spoilerific. I mean, when you play SSB, you fight the iconic bosses from each game, right? Maybe it doesn't have to be Toroko, but rather a bigger and badder version of Igor? It should either be a Flowered Mimiga, The Core, or maybe even the Doctor. But my vote goes to the Mimiga. It'd fit into the story better imo.
I am feeling realy.. nyah I don't know! I heard alot of games like Cave Story, D&D, the first Fallout.. you know REAL games^^ but I never played.. you think it's worth?
No. While Undead Core should be a boss, there should also be Enraged Toroko, saddest moment in the game (in my opinion), as a boss fight with this song. The lyrics just fit far too well.
I don't know who would be the boss, but as a regular enemy (like the goombas in the story mode) there should be a flowered mimiga. Also, King would be GREAT as an asistant, just imagine him slashing with his sword through all the stage!
I can just see as the lyrics "you're not alone" come up, Quote is just using every weapon he's acquired, remembering everyone who's helped him get to this point and counting on him.
The vocals are truly amazing. I just found this music again recently, I used to play it nonstop when I was younger. Brings back memories !
This is amazing!
I get a kind of Pendulum feel from this remix, especially with the vocals.
Yeah!

You deserve more likes. This was great!
the sounds really remind me of the band "pendulum"
It does and i love the band pendulum
My goodness, I've listened to hundreds of OCR's rearrangments so far(I'll get to them all eventually), but this one really moves me. *spoiler* i raged so bad after i found out i can
save curly but didn't before, and d@mn the save/load doesn't apply historically...
I was relieved that she could be rescued.
Starlette Rai Ce cas
I was sad, cos I knew from the get-go that I could... ...but I tried to figure it out on my own and couldn't😭
This has an interesting start, shifts, and then catches again at the minute mark. Shifts again to lyrics, out of the blue. This is well down and i must applaud the song for the time well spent in listening more than once.

Woah. O_O That's quite the remix there! How come I haven't seen this before?
No words can describe this.
I just.... I just can't stop listening.
Don't worry about it.... I wouldn't know why you would WANT to stop listening.
BUT THINK ABOUT THE REPLAY BUTTON!!! THAT POOR LITTLE THING MUST BE SO TIRED!!! #savethereplaybutton
here, have a 0:00 button. :3
I STILL CAN'T STOP LISTENING. EDIT: Three years. It's been three years, and I still keep coming back to this
remix. Nutritious, you made one of the best goddamn remixes ever.
Six years later, I still come back to this amazing song and listen to it every so often. Thank you again, Nutritious.
You’re welcome. And thank you :)
Can never have enough mixes of this song, and it's a good one, to boot. Bravo.
One of the few songs I've encounter that gave me goosebumps. Really great stuff.
I'm getting a feel of both Pendulum and Rob Dougan. Amazing. Simply amazing.
IT IS ABOUT DAMN TIME THIS GOT UPPED!
I been waiting for this almost a year now!
Very nice remix! didnt expect vocals but im glad they are there! :D
Been waiting a long time for this one to appear. The WIPs already had me hooked.
Gave me chills
Wow, something really different for Nutritious. I absolutely love it!
Will forever change my play experience of this game
the lyrics make so much sense...
To touch the source (the core)
As all life prays (mimigas concerned about the island)
Hope keeps on fading (as you beat the doctor, the island crumbles, it isnt clear if you'll make it)

Great remix of a great game!
They've been in the video description since the video went up. :-)
Amazing vocals! **o**
Love the drums

I usually dont like vocals but this is really cool
Awesome

This song is badass, but the violins just made it. Im crying q_q

@frostare
"Last Battle" is the song that plays when you fight the Undead Core.
1 word, DAMN
super saiyan corey vs beyond limits blossom anyone
Yeah. Great fight.
Does anyone know of any other artists that have music like this, because this is awesome.
maybe try Pendulum
Normal Attack: Slice,stab with Blade.
Special: Lvl3 Polar Star/Lvl2 Missiles/Lvl1 Nemesis
Down Special: Switch Specials (Like with PKMN trainer)
Up Special: v0.8 Jetpack (Like R.O.B's)
Side Special: Fireballs (You can hold down the button to charge from Lvl1 to 2 to 3.)
Final Smash: Equips Spur and v2.0 Jetpack and when Special is pressed, launches full power Spur shot. When Normal Attack pressed, throws Lvl3 Blade.

Looked up "epic" in the dictionary...

Yeh, I got the game the day after posting that comment. Very fun game that is. :D

Quite the remix, if I do say so myself.

Oh and curly with MG as an assist.
pfft, sadest moment is (if you didnt keep it from happening) is when curly drowns
Cave Story? How did you know, OCRemix?
(cont.) I've played Melee and Brawl, and if Quote was in Brawl, then for sure The Core would've made sense in Story Mode. At least, I think it would fit in.
EEnE Z brought me here.

Indeed, Quote NEEDS to happen. I just think Enraged Toroko should be a boss fight.
Another one going straight on my mp3 player. This was amazing, I loved the vocals (& i'm picky about vocals) He did a great job on them.
I tracked this song down from the lyrics
There was a video with gameplay, made by the song's creator.
You can also get it for the DSi through wii ware, and i think both version comes with a juke box :)
the game is a great installment to the dungeon crawler genre. if you have a wii getting it on wii ware is (in my opinion) easier to handle because its not on a keyboard.
@TheZRasmus Oh I completely missed real good song =D go on!
Maybe Balrog should be the boss, although that would not only be a plothole (why fight an ally?) but kind of underwhelming (compared to all the other boss battles, I mean). I could see him as an Assist Trophy.

Sounds like a theme from Dragon Ball Z...
but the idea for quote is still good, right?
Have you forgotten the Spur?
I am feeling realy.. nyah I don't know! I heard alot of games like Cave Story, D&D, the first Fallout.. you know REAL games^^ but I never played.. you think it's worth?
No. While Undead Core should be a boss, there should also be Enraged Toroko, saddest moment in the game (in my opinion), as a boss fight with this song. The lyrics just fit far too well.
Lol I just bought this game the other day.
@angall3 Nah. More like a cosmic phenomena, creating this song as a soundtrack whenever epic is required.
2:04 for lyrics
LYRICS PLEASE!
so..hows the game? :D
Live is gone
I don't know who would be the boss, but as a regular enemy (like the goombas in the story mode) there should be a flowered mimiga.
Also, King would be GREAT as an asistant, just imagine him slashing with his sword through all the stage!
can somone give the the lyrics?
cant understand some.
The lyrics are in the description.
