Even JC turns around to watch Danny go nuts :D That ending is probably my favourite 30 seconds of drumming, ever. Not many can play that quick and still have it sound that freakin' good. Absolute legend.
TheNonArtist, there are also better drummers than whoever you think is better. Of course there is someone better, doesn't mean he isn't a legend. You can say "there are people better than them" to literally every band in existance. It's a worthless and pointless statement.
What I love about tool is that they are all exceptional at what they do. The skill of their musicianship, songwriting, artistry, performance and creativity is second to none. There are more popular bands, but tool is more than a band.
I don't understand the people who think Tool sucks or are terrible. I understand if you're not a huge fan because their songs are not short and sweet and a lot of people don't like that but to say they suck is just ignorance.
Not exactly music you listen to while you're doing other stuff, those people probably listened to sober and thought that was what all their albums were like. Dumb assumption though because hardly any bands make an entire album sound like one song on it. Seven Mary three has that legendary song cumbersome but it was their one hit wonder
people can't focus on Tool's beautiful, wonderful and artistic music. everyone who barks at progressive music either doesn't know how to play/understand it themselves or they themselves listen to some rubbish.
Hearing this makes me feel like I'm tripping without drugs. I wish i could have seen them during this tour but still my favourite band ever. Thank you for uploading!
+QueensRock Musically I believe that they could nail it. Actually I know they could. Vocally, I'm not sure MJK's voice would be up to the task. This WAS around thirteen years ago so....
+Aaron Gentry i dont think ppl give mjk enough credit. pretty sure he could do this. the scream at the end might be rough. but even when he was younger it was hard for him. but he always adds effects anyway
+David A Yeah, I was so happy to see this performed for the first time in over twelve years. I agree about the scream, he would've ruined his voice if he had tried to do it. Otherwise it sounded great.
Love that slight bit faster tempo they did for this live version.. And DANNY what the hell. U are by far a drummer who can out jam even the most heaviest of bands..hell tools jams can slam as hard as any extream metal bands..these guys are the only ones to jam out shit on a zepplin sratus level
I had 9 years and had no clue they even existed, I was still deep into Italian pop at the time cause it was the only music I could understand the lyrics of lmao
This was the best time for Tool as a whole. Not taking anything away from what they're currently doing but they will never match the sonic energy of around 2001
Most epic fucking amazing band ever. Seen them 3 times and all were simply mind blowing. Last year at Download..wtf insane...insane.possibly my fav gig ever
that scream is definitely in the top ten of hard rock screams, right up there next to The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again. it took me far too long to recognize this.
Mike Simpson No he's not lol. He's a great vocalist and lyricist, but frontman?? that would have to be either Freddy Mercury, Robert Plant or Axl Rose.
Yeah, me too in 2001, I was 17, had just failed a major exam at school and was in a very vulnerable state when on the same day a friend of mine wanted me to drive with him to Vienna to see this band he had heard of :) Needless to say, I was never the same person afterwards
maynard : one of a very select few worthy of the Yogies. maynard, dj dizzy, me, ritm plus basically all of hallucination records. of course AC ofcourse india
I came for that scream. I dunno, I just have a sneaky suspicion he lets out 2 bars and the rest of it is mimed delay effects. There is absolutely no fucking way he could do that every night. Its just unsustainable
@@venomau5speedz its the middle name of Maynard's son. Devon H Keenan. He wrote that song for him and after he understood that they stopped playing h live.
Stormtrooper Elite I agree. We saw them last year in January and when they started playing it I wished sooo hard he'd do it ... but I knew he wouldn't . His voiced cracked hard just in Pushit . Breaks my heart 😔 Growing old sucks ass
The lung power for that yell is fucking immense.
i came here specifically to watch him do it live. not bad👉👈
6:46 i bet a lot of ppl is here to see if he can do that just like the studio version. and oh boy he can!
I bet a lot of people came here to listen the entire song ;p
I bet u can barely listen his scream but it's NJK and I trust him
Shorter though...
Maynard going super sayan 4
That fucking scream leaves me wanting to bash my skull through a brick wall. Sends chills down my spine
21 seconds... nearly there Keenan...

Epic. Epic decision, Justin.

I don't get it, but it helps weed out the weak ones, ya know?

The greatest heavy metal song ever written.
mcbillygoat ! This isn't heavy metal at all
Lateralus Album genre -
Progressive metal.

@@mcbillygoat2413 simple labels, they don't like being called metal.

éxtasis de pura música esa simetria, todo tan bien colocado, dan ganas de irse a otra dimensión con tanto poder!!!
damn this is one the the best songs they play. I love how it builds up and then the end is so intense
They really need to play this live again.

+David A Yeah, I was so happy to see this performed for the first time in over twelve years. I agree about the scream, he would've ruined his voice if he had tried to do it. Otherwise it sounded great.
They've been playing it a lot recently, at least that's why my Tool-loving friend tells me. However, he is not doing the scream.
I think this is the best performance from Tool!!!!
There are so, so many worth mentioning. Their first ever live show is rough but its captivating, especially after having read Maynard's biography.

For us old heads who were around for the Lateralus tours...my god what an experience...I can still remember standing there watching them in Buffalo
I saw them two nights in a row at MSG in 2001 and again at Trenton in 2002. Still the 3 best shows I’ve ever seen.
They know this song is genius , it's here for next decades will be ahead of time for a loooooong time❤️
who came here to see if maynard can do the scream just like on the studio version? and oh boy i was not disappointed.
Same here
The best band in the world!
incredible. Tool in their PRIME
Un viaje sideral escuchar a tool
I couldn’t see Adam at 3:30 but then he zoomed in and he was just blending in with the amps
This clip still gives me goosebumps.

I'd say he's pretty fucking amazing for letting his band be the front and him just add to the experience, he's a very very unique frontman.
Bruce Dickinson man.
Or shouldn't we say... backman? o.O LOL
@@GRYNGE7 also Bruce Dickinson, Henry Rollins and Ozzy.
GOOSEBUMPS man!

Drummerboi77 , lol in there defense chad gives the band there bad rep. Even tho there not my cup of tea.
In a long forgotten era of almost no cell phone screens in the audience.
Still is at their concerts nowadays with the phone ban.
Thats sad Yes!
Smart phones didn’t really exist yet
Like #666 as I watch MJK appear to conjure The Grudge demon.
the metal version of pink Floyd, performance wise.
I think they're much closer to Rush seeing as Danny is almost a rival to Neil Peart
This sound is very King Crimson
All of this, yes.
how the hell did the band keep up with danny carry? specifically at that outro ?
Cause these guys can jam like zepplin did...just pure talent
Fuckkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!
Not enough Danny Carey. Dude should always be somewhere in the video.
What was Adam doing on the floor for like 3 minutes?
So insane hahaha

the bass riff sounds alot like H. anyone else hear it?
