I was your second opponent. Had a not so great draw, but playing against you made my day! Thank you very much for your amazing content and cool decks. Keep up the good work!
The comeback in that last game was exquisite! But at 31:08, wouldn't it have been better to let the Heavy get exiled and then if they attack with the Luminarch bounce the Cathar to get the Heavy back untapped and able to block the Aspirant?
@@LegenVD wouldn´t it have been a good deal to trade one counter for an Aspirant? with double Rigging online it would have been 8 Power in your turn anyways.
The last game he should have lost, the opponent played terribly. Sungold could have attacked twice and didnt. Made it have white 'protection' even, which made no sense
The unexpected edits in your videos are the best haha. Can't remember which video it was but the angelic music and golden effects as the perfect top deck came out still makes me randomly smile
its amazing how a little piece of music can inspire hope. it definitely was not looking good during that last match... then the symphony kicked in. i had a smile on my face the whole time, just waiting for the crescendo! expertly played as well.
Man, I love this vid and this deck. Not gonna lie, I'm in a super slump going 6-10 with it on the ladder. You make it look so easy and flawless! Going to keep grinding, watch the vid again to see if I'm just playing it poorly or need a different mix, and try to get back to just having fun rather than wanting to punch my computer screen right now, I'm seriously going full tilt, haha. Your content is the best out there, LVD, thank you so much!
Im not sure why your serpent didnt die at 18:10. usually indestructible creatures die when their defense is reduced to 0 or below. And you were saying the enemy did a wrong sequence. Could you please explain to me why the serpent survived. Awesome video as always
The -X/-X ability gave Koma -4/-4, making it a 2/2. The negative toughness shown therefore comes from damage which does not destroy an indestructible creature.
Was wondering the same question. Is there a sequence to kill koma with those strangle and harvester or does koma still live since you give it indestructible in response to strangle?
I swear on my life, that last game made feel inside Inception. I was thinking on what could save us, and nothing really came into my mind, and out of nowhere I had the same reaction they had while climbing the mountain on the snow: "is that music?". Immediately I got a genuine smile (rare hahaha) and thought: he did again hahaha Juat keep it up, please! Your videos are really entertaining, thanks.
Amazing deck building, amazing game play and on top, amazing editing. As usual (and no, if I say "as usual", it is not because we are bored, it's just plain great consistency in... greatness) Awesome and onto the next one :D
I can never tell what impresses me more about your videos: the deck-building, the gameplay, or the editing. Thanks for making the most top-notch MTGA content on UA-cam 🤌
One thing I'm digging about this thing is that I can keep digging for fight rigging, cheating thing with fight rigging and keep that thing growing. Playing fight rigging is one of the most exciting thing I'm doing.
I remember when you casted Tibalt on turn 3 in historic But casting Tibalt on turn 4 in standard is so much better (If anyone is wondering about turn three Tibalt the video is Historic - Sweet Release)
Hey LVD! Wanted to thank you for all the amazing content you keep creating. I'm in the middle of writing my thesis and your video's (old and new!) are a welcome break to take between writing sessions :) so thank you so much🙏 P.s. do you have any plans to play the Explorer (pioneer) format in Arena? 😊
The -4/-4 is applied to the actual power and toughness. since koma is a 6/6 he was still a 2/2 with 3 Damage. -x/-x abilities work against indestructable because a creature with 0 or less toughness seizes to exist instead of dying (cannot recall the actual wording of this rule). It is mostly the Representation in Arena which causes the confusion here.
@@deady95 ah that makes a lot of sense. I do remember the seizing from existing rule for toughness being 0 or less via minus effects. Just usually the creature is either small so the effect will def get it or you make the minus large enough to guarantee get it. That's why with damage it gets confusing, esp on a big indestructible creature. And you're right I think arena does its best but it's such a niche situation that has its own ruling that it wouldn't mess ppl up regularly
Ahah I bet we are going to see this a lot on the Arena this week! Good Job (luck?) LVD. That was a nice deck, cheap big creatures are always popular decks ;) Thanks for the quality content, as always :)
I really like this deck, seems like a lot of fun! Although I was thinking throughout the video that you do need some good luck to really explode with this deck. In the last game, you could have grabbed some extra value if you waited to bounce brutal cathar for after it exiled your heavy, that way you could have blocked luminarch aspirant, or maybe even ambushed it! ;)
At 22:10 I would have exiled the brutal cathar and then sacrificed the serpent token to tap down the Reidane. The tap ability on Koma is one of the stronger elements of that card for the removal.
Awesome build, always coming up with amazing decks. One question, at 31:15 if you waited until attackers were declared to bounce the cathar, would your creature return to play untapped to block the aspirant? Or would it still be tapped?
That looks incredible fun! I will try the deck at some point but for now i'm with 0 copies of Fight Rigging...I guess Arena wants me to fight fair for now.
When you think you're about to kill your mana-screwed opponent but then the background music starts playing...you realize you're in a LVD video and your fate is sealed.
Damn the last player jobbed so hard on that protection play. If he had given the sungold sentinel swamp proof and attack with everything as well as put a counter on the aspirant, he could have potentially had lethal next turn
Can I ask how you consistently get fight rigging? I try my best to build decks around a single card but I'll rarely ever get it even with a full playset. Is there a ratio thing I'm missing?
22:00 How about exiling the cathar, replay it to take reidane down and do something else with the leftover mana, like playing the aspirant? Tybalt most likely survives, Koma gets out, and if they kill the cathar it isnt really too bad at all
This deck is legit in the meta, i played it from Plat 4 and just hit Mythic for the first time ever. Some slight tweaks at the top end (i switched around the payoff cards to include The Tarrasque) but largely the same list
Great vid as usual! Once the standard format has settled down a bit and you check out historic brawl again, is there any chance you could make an updated Niv-Mizzet Reborn 5C decklist? There's a ton of cool new stuff from SNC that would fit really well in the deck, and he's one of the most popular commanders atm so I'm sure it would do well. Cheers!
1:47 well, today I learned we were misplaying reservoir kraken at prerelease; neither I nor my opponent realized you had to tap your own guy to tap down the kraken
Yooo that was sick! Do they pump the RNG gas for streamers or something? Cause it's working, I want to run that deck now and I haven't touched standard in years.
Lord Soth could emit a radius of fear during battle along with a deathly drop in temperature. He was capable of other spells such as cone of cold and was known for being able to speak the demise of an opponent with a single word - hence, Power Word: Kill.
A question: what was the reason for selecting Vorinclex over Titan of Industry [that is, as a top-end for Fight Rigging]? While there is- and indeed you mentioned- a slight synergy between Vorinclex and Fight Rigging [one extra +1/+1 counter per trigger], and Vorinclex goes well with Toxrill, and Vorinclex is more realistically castable than Titan, it seems that Titan is a more individually powerful card. Edit: On further consideration, I believe I might see the reason: Fight Rigging triggers at the beginning of combat, not on attacks- I had assumed it functioned less like Luminarch Aspirant and more like Ranger Class. As such, Vorinclex can attack right away.
Indeed, also if we draw multiple expensive creatures it's better to curve a 6-drop into a 7-drop instead of having two 7-drops in hand when they're close in power level.
Wait what? Koma didnt die even after having -1 thougness? Why? I thought an indestructible creature would always die if its thougness was below zero no matter the way you do it.
Damage is different technically speaking you have to make them get minus 1/1 or however, even if you do damage they technically still have their set amount of toughness, so if you can make them get minus however much that is, flunk is a good card for that, you can kill them. Sweepers are also a good answer like blood on the snow as they just destroy anything even indestructible. It’s only if you specifically target said card that removal doesn’t work.
There's definitely more variety now but no one knows how New Capenna might affect the meta. Kamigawa was awesome for variety though and those cards are still in rotation
Yeah that cycle was bonkers with the amount of bans that were done/not done. I think standard is in a pretty good spot right now. Mono-white has been running the meta for a while and annoys people, to be sure, but I think there’s a nice variety of powerful decks out there. Plus, this set just opened up the door for a lot more 3-color decks to find a place in the format. There is a new powerful 3-mana Ob Nixilis planeswalker that came out, but I don’t believe it’s nearly as oppressive as Oko or Teferi.
The system (Arena) hasn't changed at all.. Still requiring Wins to make any progress in your account is bad design, and the economy hasn't gotten any better. Since people value victories over fun, you'll probably still find repetitive decks that seek to get there as fast as possible, and with the most powerful cards. Don't get your hopes up.
Depends on the format I think. I've had alot of fun in Historic Brawl and the new Explorer (pioneer) over the last few weeks and days respectively. Its still true that alot of people play to win but I've seen quite some variety of decks. Its also always person dependent, I'm not super bothered with running into the same deck twice (I'll just switch formats for a couple of games) but I can understand the frustration for others.
That last game, music building momentum... Awesome!! Thank you, Lvd, have a good day too.
Only an european could manage that, well done. :)

The comeback in that last game was exquisite!
But at 31:08, wouldn't it have been better to let the Heavy get exiled and then if they attack with the Luminarch bounce the Cathar to get the Heavy back untapped and able to block the Aspirant?
Probably worth it, only drawback is we would lose some counters.
yeap yeap, fight was epic though. great background song too, great version of the deck. MBM did a similar deck today, but this one is certainly better

To kill indestructible you have to reduce the toughness to zero which damage doesn't do (koma was a 2/2 indestructible with 3 damage on it)
The -X/-X ability gave Koma -4/-4, making it a 2/2. The negative toughness shown therefore comes from damage which does not destroy an indestructible creature.

That last battle climax was so intense!!
I'm still confused at why koma didn't die from the - 4/-4 at the end of match 3. Good to know that it doesn't work but still a bit confused rules wise
I've tried revel in commander many times and someone always answers it before it gets back to my upkeep. Might work here because only one oppo.
