Conrad over-did the debate about not promoting the Disney tapings to where it was painful watching him try to save his faulty point.
Yeah, I'm not sure how many times Eric needed to say that WCW couldn't promote the show for it to get through Conrad's thick head.
One of the few times where in a debate i understand what Conrad is thinking about of WCW not mentioning where they are and do some advertisement if you can call it. Conrad is a monster doing ads so i understand that.
But at the same time WCW couldn't do proper or straight promoting: WHY would they want to? Disney treated them like red-haired stepchild but doing all that stupid thing of going on a bus and not allowing them to leave studio. Why would you want to help a "landlord" like that in anything what they are contracted obligated to do?
Conrad is a jerk. Literally Eric had a perfect explanation AS ALWAYS. And Conrad is just being a smart ass. Literally a know it all and a nobody at the same time

His over reliance on Meltzer is irritating. Eric always puts Conmark in his place tho.
Dude, Conrads combative,argumentive and heel host nature is all in character,he is the foil to just about everything Eric says to be entertaining. Go back a few years tp the start of their run and they all but admit to being intentionally antagonistic because that is part of the show.

I actually enjoy when they do stuff like this. It’s sets it self apart for the other podcasts where everyone gets along and is warm and fuzzy all the time. Even if it’s manufactured. It breaks up the smarmy atmosphere of the other podcasts.
Conrad's totally off base in this case, Eric said that Disney didn't want WCW to promote that they were at Disney/MGM Studios, so WCW couldn't tell wrestling fans where and when. Eric made the point many times and it's Conrad who's totally wrong here. Seemed pretty easy to follow on my end

Not sure what Conrad didn't understand about what Eric was explaining about how Disney would provide the audience for the WCW shows at the studios.
I went to one of the TV Taping shows in Monroe, LA in 1993 just before WCW started going to MGM. It was a fun event. The Hollywood Blonds had just won the Tag Team Titles, Johnny B Badd was on the show, it was one of Scott Flash Norton's first matches, Dustin Rhodes and Rick Rude wrestled for the US Championship, and Sting vs Vader was the Main Event. The Merch Crew was very down to Earth, and would actually talk to you about stuff like where they were going next, and what it was like traveling with the WCW Crew. WCW Merch was very good at making the fans feel like they were a part of what WCW doing at the time.
Except that the card you describe happened on June 12, 1992, long before Disney was even an idea 😉

The Disney-MGM Studios didn't allow any shows to promote tickets in advance, all tapings were a surprise until you showed up

I know Conrad’s persona is a work but for me personally it’s only garnering “go away heat”. He’s seriously making all the podcasts he’s involved in just annoying to the point where I’m not listening nearly as often as I used to and when I am listening I end up checking out early because he just ruins it for me. This is just my personal opinion, I’m well aware that they’ll do just fine without me. lol

Maybe I'm ignorant, definitely not the best math man... but did I miss how they grosses $24 million, lost $10 million but were still in the red? Would that leave +$14 million? Again, maybe I missed their expense sheet breakdown which was-$34 million, that'd explain everything I'm struggling to understand 🤔
Idk if it's a semantics thing, but I think the idea is they brought in 24 million, but that still wasn't enough to cover the losses. A company can bring in gross profits and still not be profitable(if that makes sense)
@mpb929 in a way it does, which is how I thought I was to understand it. What he isn't mentioning is the other expenses off the top which cut the gross into a loss is that how you understand it? That's probably the only thing that threw me off...

I have watched nwa/wcw since the mid 80s and i never in my life heard of WCW Pro. So that should tell you something.....

It came on Saturday mornings at 9. It replaced power hour on TBS. WCW pro was also on syndication in certain markets.

This man has been planning this ever since Brawl Out. Everything that has happened since then with AEW has confirmed what he was saying then. Yes, his rant was COMPLETELY unprofessional and uncouth, but.........he was right. Period, point blank.
You also conveniently left out the part where Triple H said that _he_ has changed, _Phil Brooks_ has changed, and it is a different company. For all intents and purposes, Triple H is the boss now. Triple H is one of the boys. He knows what it's like on Punk's side of the line. As much as he admires, respects, and loves his Father-in-law, they are two different people and 90% of the issues Punk had when he left are gone.
The only people with salt in their draws over CM Punk right now are people jealous of his success and popularity despite doing things his own way, which is something that they wished THEY could do, but don't have the testicular fortitude to do it. Punk got paid well in WWE. Got paid well in UFC. Got paid well on FOX. Got paid well in AEW, and is going to be paid well in WWE AGAIN.
Seems like a trend here. Much like the Ultimate Warrior, CM Punk understood the business for what it IS, and not some BS narrative created by people who don't. That's why people kept bringing both guys BACK over and over and over again for more and more MONEY.
I'm not even a fan of CM Punk as a wrestler. He's solid, but nothing special. If he is not being allowed to do shoots or worked-shoots, his promo-work is adequate at best IMO. However, he knows how to make things interesting, and thus entertaining. In case you haven't gotten the memo, that is what a "sports entertainer" is _supposed_ to do.
