Looks like Santa already came to your house. ❤️ I love watching you and Aaron puzzle things out. The way you negotiate is so lovely and respectful. Great example of how to do marriage!
My husband has been watching with me he said, "bless those kids heart!", "so many people making picky comments", give them a break. Love this guy, I have to agree!! Keep being Laura and Aaron, you guys are gracious and humble in your responses.....Merry Christmas, garden on.........
Best investment we ever made was a motorized gate to our property. Gate codes are specific to those who need access so we always know who is coming and going. We had a beautiful gate sign made to remind folks that this is private property. Remember to let first responders have access code. 20 plus years and no problems...family safety was our #1 priority.
Yes highly encourage y’all to get a gate to help aid in privacy. Hearing about people driving on your property sounds so stressful and worrying. You four(Aarron, Laura, Benjamin, and Baby girl) TAKE CARE!!🥰
In Texas, you could petition to have the road “closed” and make it officially private- you go apply to the county and they have a petition period then you can make your drive your private property- just in case so you couldn’t have issues later.
Funny how Aaron made it clear he's not the guy who buys his wife a vacuum for her Birthday. Good job Aaron. 😂😂😂😂 Also maybe shade porch can becomes dehydrating porch?
So glad to hear you are rethinking mail-time. I know people are so sweet and thoughtful and generous to you . However, I can see it could be a real burden, more than you can possibly use. I, for one, would not miss it, as I watch for the actual gardening , as I’m sure so many do.
I stopped watching the mail-time videos for this very reason. They made me uncomfortable as I started to see all of the gifts as a burden even though they come from generous, well-meaning people.
I’m the type of person that doesn’t open up gifts for all to see. For me gifting is a private and personal event unless the gift is from family or friends with whom you want to share. Each has their own take on it I guess. In fact I’m just going to stop watching mail time . I noticed this is 42 minutes long and I too enjoy the gardening and land development aspect of Laura’s channel. I love watching her and Aaron do all those activities.
I agree, Sherry. I don’t watch the mail time either. I think that there are so many worthwhile charities that folks can donate to that help people. I just don’t see this family as needing piles of gifts. Mail time comes across to me as an encouragement to send more, though I’m sure they don’t mean it that way, it still seems a bit narcissistic. I do love the gardening and craft videos though.
@@ThatgirlinSeattle - now that’s a great idea, those who do love Laura and Aaron (and we all do) can always donate in lieu of gifts give to our local charities. Even my local garden requested for donations for example to buy new equipment for the community garden or for the teaching garden where students learn how to grow crops.
I live in Southern California and for many years we had a Home in the mountains. The first year I was so excited I could finally have a Williamsburg Christmas. I decorated the shutters in the front door I had apples and oranges and nuts and I was so incredibly pleased with myself and I loved it! The following weekend when we arrived I looked at my decorations and I just stood there and laughed the critters had eaten half of everything. What can you do but laugh I left it all alone and it still makes me laugh and that’s been 30 years ago.
I'm so excited for more mail time! For some reason they are one of my favorite videos, even though I don't watch any other mail time videos on other channels.
Dear Laura and Aaron, Thank you for your work in your video productions. I'm sorry you have to explain to people to keep your distance and be respectful of anyone's privacy. Society seems to think we are entitled to SEE EVERYTHING, and KNOW EVERYTHING! I cringe when you feel you have to explain your purchases. Really??? Take your time enjoying this Christmas Season. One never know what could happen. So don't, would have, could have, or should have your life. Blessings to your family.
I think you and Aaron are responsibly smart people. Some of these questions are y’all get ask it puts me on the defensive. Y’all are doing a good job. Y’all are burning trees you’re not burning tires. I think they’ll environment and the people will all be just fine .
I don't know why but I really enjoy the mail time videos. I even got excited when I first saw this video and saw all those packages. I will miss them.☹
I really like to see the mail time videos. Gifts given from amazing viewers who want to express their love and care that they have for you, this generosity and kindness for you and your family often bring me to tears. Your videos are an expression of your love for gardening that is presented in a practical, fun, professional, and beautiful way. God's Blessings and Merry Christmas.
I love the vacuum conversation, lol. 😂🤷🏼♀️ Last Christmas my husband wouldn't buy one for me, so my father did. I really needed a new one, but hubby wouldnt let the "From" say his name! But I loved it! It makes my life easier and nicer to clean 😌 And now I'm realizing it will be the last Christmas Gift from my dad🥺 He passed 2 months ago suddenly. Now I Will cherish that vacuum even more, wnd I have on, his necklace he never took off. 😢
Hi Laura baby girl u look adorable i just want to say take care of urself n knw we ur readers wish u n ur family all Gods blessings of great joy especially wen dat pumpkin of joy comes into d world. Stay warm guys.😊😄
OMG!!! I'm the same way with vacuums, etc. I would rather get something like that gifted to me than jewelry. My husband often gifts me power tools and I LOVE IT!!!!
My husband gave me a pruning blade for his reciprocating saw which was tremendously helpful pruning dead limbs from bottom of our spruce trees. Best gift ever-a gift that keeps giving. 💚
I love that you are always positive and do not borrow trouble in your projects !!!!No need to borrow trouble. I also like how you want things to match and look pretty. Keep on being the girl we all love. It works! Have a safe and happy season!! :-)
Yes shade porches are a thing. We use them in the south during the summer. Where the sun isn't beaming in on it and its more cool compared to being outside. Lol great place to enjoy the evening too!
Yes- porches on historic homes (and hopefully other homes) slope. I bet it is more pronounced on your north side because it would take longer for things to dry and melt on that side. My porches (1893 home with over 2000sf of porches) all slope at least 1/8” in 12” but usually 1/4”. You can just pop little pot feet or furniture feet under furniture to offset a slope.
Hi Laura, Aaron and Banjamin, cats and baby girl! Just wanted to write thank you for being on UA-cam and sharing your projects and plants care tips with us! All of you take care and know you're very much appreciated! Edit: your outdoors seasonal containers are so artistic and inspirational so thanks again!

OMG! I just fell off my chair in fits of laughter at "the look" you gave when you were talking about Idaho....love how you and Aaron interact! Here is hoping you can relax, kick back, enjoy the season while waiting for your beautiful daughter. 🎄♥️🎄
Definitely get a shredder, mine has changed by gardening so much. Everything composts so much better. I love that everything that grows can go back into the garden.
'except for the laws' ... yeah, we saw that look Miss Laura! Love it! So so true! It rarely sits well for a down to earth rural community to be governed by those who have no roots in the heartland. My BIG question - who is the better eye-roller? You or Aaron? Benjamin and Baby Girl need to learn it from the best!
You inspired me to keep it more simple this year. It's almost like I got permission to just relax about things this year. Everything looks wonderful. Thank you for all you do.
Your videos are always so entertaining and informative. After all the work you've done with the house and property, I can't imagine selling it anytime soon.
Considering the age of your home, the north-facing porch may have been used to do laundry. They probably had a hand ringer-washer and had it out there. It was sloped for the water that splashed and when they were done, they could dump it. My grandparents had their ringer-washer in a sloped area of their garage/enclosed-porch area.
We watch your videos every night!! We’ve learned so much and done so much to our yard our neighbor who is a master gardener thought we were trained in gardening
I love all your videos, you have helped me go from someone who just bought all my veggies and flowers to now I grow a lot of my own and increase the size of my garden every year. It’s still very small but I love it so so much. Anyway just had to say that the clip from “Christmas Vacation “ about the hair.... omg, I just about died from laughter. Thank u. Thank You for sharing your garden and your wonderful family. Merry Christmas 🎄
Yes Laura. To mic. in Aaron is something I enjoy as well but ENTIRELY up to you two when and how much! Sweet blessings for that baby girl you 3 have coming too! Great videos as well Laura. 👏😷🙏🎄
It's brilliant how you're able to utilize a portion of last year's ornaments & create a whole new beautiful, Christmas ambience. You are truly inspiring!! Thank you!
I love it when you do these videos and you and Aaron have those funny discussions. the lampoon Christmas vacation add on was perfect. one of our favorite movies. it amazes me what people comment about. keep u the good work. just love it all.
Had to laugh at the vacuum for y our birthday. That is my kind of gift. Last year I asked my husband for a key turned mower instead of a ccrd to yank. Love it. Yes, I do all the yard work. Good excercise for this old lady Ha!
I'm sure you hear this all the time, but when I watch your videos it is like I am sitting with a dear (and very informative) friend. I really appreciate your updates and how you speak so casually, so very "present" with your audience. It's a remarkable talent, it truly is! And the way your videos are edited, leaving in so much of the spontaneous, sharing all the "I don't know"s along with the stuff you DO know, your honesty, the forthrightness, the kitties, Benjamin, it is just all absolutely marvelous. I loved seeing your reaction to the question of critters attacking your outdoor tree. I felt like I was in the room with you and I'd asked the question, and you looked at me and acknowledged you hadn't thought of that, and we both laughed! That's how incredible your talent for this is, Laura. It feels so perfectly personal. You are the Mr. Rogers of gardening, so calm, so natural, so welcoming, and so real. So, as I said, you probably hear this stuff all the time, but maybe you needed to hear it again today. YOU are WONDERFUL, just exactly as you are! I hope you'll continue to gift us all with your sharing. And thank you Aaron for enabling all this to happen. I am so happy for your success and growth!
The comment about the vacuum made me chuckle! My husband bought me a super nice Stihl weedeater for Christmas that has different attachments and every holiday after that was a new attachment. I loved them all!
Oh pretty please with sugar on top KEEP MAIL TIME.... I have been inspired soooo much from your Mail time and bought gifts for family and friends. I truly love watching the creativity of our GA Family 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I love your comment about your hair and not wanting to be concerned on how it looks. I can't stand to watch youtubers who are always touching their hair...constantly making sure their bangs are hanging just right etc. Thanks for just being you and making content that is always interesting, inspiring and fun.
Thanks Laura! Can you do a video on your process of how you decide which plants to pre-order? I have no idea where to start in planning for my beds! I pray you are having a fabulous week!
When microwave ovens were fairly new, my dad gave one to my mom for Mother’s Day, for Father’s Day my dad received a blender from my mom the same year. That was a learning experience for dad. Laura you have a smart and thoughtful husband. 😊
Laughing so hard after seeing the clip from Chevy Chase embedded into your video great added bonus. Love your videos as always keep up the good work you entertained so many and give us so much hope of a beautiful yard.
I have a girl about Benjamin's age and a 4.5 month old. I felt like I had a handle on it all before #2 was born and OH MY WORD NO! I do not lol. It is so worth it, but I'll be praying for you guys!
Mail time is one of my favourite videos. Please consider keeping them. Such kind and generous people who are the Garden Answer community. Love seeing what others send you - inspiring :) Merry Christmas from Ontario, Canada!
I’m thinking that a big reason you’re keeping things simple this year is because when it’s time to be taking your decorations down it will almost be time for baby girl to arrive. You will have more important things to think about than taking down decorations!
For those who don't know what's growing in their garden, there are a few good apps. If they sometimes can't be too precise, you've at least got the family they belong to. I'm in Germany, but I'm sure you got them too in the US.
The back porch slope is because originally it was just either an uncovered or covered deck and it was to keep rain and snow away from the house. Later walls were added to keep weather out as you enter house. My back mudroom off kitchen is the same way. My husband built a false floor to help level it. It's not perfect but you don't feel drunk as you walk thru it anymore!
It's funny that you have decorated so much less this year because you've inspired me to decorate even more than usual. I have a second smaller tree, ribbon in both, and fresh greens for the front porch pots. I've used your inspiration to create my wreath and garlands to look fuller and have more depth of color. I even planted some boxwoods in our deck containers so I will have "winter interest." I'm so thankful for your inspiration and diy instruction to help me achieve the look I've always wanted, but didn't know how to get. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me add color and joy to my little corner of the world. Merry Christmas!
Amen! Practical gifts for a practical woman. That's how I am. In my world, a cordless dyson is a luxury item and I would be very excited to get one. (Hint, hint). 😂
@@pattystrecker1867 right!?! We can get the flower bed all "derocked" ... the following season there's rocks in the flower bed... it's a running joke.." who planted the rock seeds again?!?"
I don’t remember where I learned this but apparently when small kids want to repeat watch (or hear) something over and over and OVER, it’s to do with some really crucial and cool brain development and learning!
I would miss mail time, so much fun seeing what's in those mystery boxes and hearing about other fans. How ever things change and the biggest mystery package is due soon!. About pruning early bloomers, while the rule of thumb is to wait till shorty after flowering ,this encourages SUCKERS!! (especially lilacs) Every 5 years or so if the tree needs heavy pruning, it's best done during a dormant period, late fall or winter. PS Laura you look great!!!!!!!!!!
With fires being such a concern in that area of the country and the potential of accidents caused by defective fireworks, it's much safer to observe educated professionals who take every precaution when letting off (let's face it) EXPLOSIVE CHEMICALS.

Mail time is one of my favourite videos. Please consider keeping them. Such kind and generous people who are the Garden Answer community. Love seeing what others send you - inspiring :)
Merry Christmas from Ontario, Canada!
Great idea. You and your family need to be safe.
Oh yes, love recaps.
By the way, I found the snow video so peaceful and beautiful, thank you.
Laura I love how real you are ..
Amen! Practical gifts for a practical woman. That's how I am. In my world, a cordless dyson is a luxury item and I would be very excited to get one. (Hint, hint). 😂
Yay, a video today after all!!
The comment of no rocks in her land!!!??? So jealous in my county we grow rocks
I feel your pain...same thing here in SW Ohio!
@@pattystrecker1867 right!?! We can get the flower bed all "derocked" ... the following season there's rocks in the flower bed... it's a running joke.." who planted the rock seeds again?!?"
Hahaha we grow rocks too
Laura, I love that you are not a worrier!
Always great advice thank you 🙏 and I had a chuckle lol 😂 🧤👒🇦🇺🐨🦘🎄thank you 🥰☕️
Aaron for upstairs get a rumba vacuum. I bought one and love it. It vacuums under the bed and that for me is so worth it!.
I don’t remember where I learned this but apparently when small kids want to repeat watch (or hear) something over and over and OVER, it’s to do with some really crucial and cool brain development and learning!
Said it before and I'll say it again
Laura you are so delightful!
Like seeing the box from Bronner's in Frankenmuth , Michigan in the background. Happy Holidays from The Mitten!
Maybe you could try a wedge under the dresser on your back porch so it doesn’t lean away from the wall.
love watching your happy videos...you are the light in my day....thank you.....
Oh wow, this has to be my lucky day ... mail time and being able to view and comment so early?? Woohoo and thank you!! 😊
Great recap! Thanks for mentioning where you got the crown tree topper!
Joann’s cleans and sharpens scissors, hand trimmers, etc.
Wow, fabulous to know, you're so awesome!
Thanks!
🙏
I am a little curious, what do you do with all the things you get? Do you donate some?
@@ladikmk That's a good idea. But I would give to different charities, like homeless shelters and battered woman shelters, and maybe Salvation Army.
"Nope, we don't light off illegal fireworks here. NOPE." :-)
Such a lil guilty laugh. 🙃☺️
😂
With fires being such a concern in that area of the country and the potential of accidents caused by defective fireworks, it's much safer to observe educated professionals who take every precaution when letting off (let's face it) EXPLOSIVE CHEMICALS.
I do love the lemmon cypress dwarf also.
I have a lightweight Musa vacuum which I love!
Thank you Aaron, for pointing out about the fakes i had no clue luckily i got a genuine pair of felco 2s for my dad
