Gotta LOVE old school Shinji Aramaki designed mecha.
Can't get much older than Mospeada too, interesting to see the aspects that remain with his design style now compared to this.
I like this extended transformation sequence but it's just as cool when it transforms lightning fast in just a fraction of a second.
Faster would ensure it all connects and riders would less vulnerabe in midst of battle, but yeah this one just so cool for all the extra detail you can see.
If I remember correctly this scene only existed once throughout the whole series.
It's a very avant-garde design even until the present day.
Megazone and Bubblegum did well for the bike > combat armor/robot, but mospeada has the best design for the modern aesthetic to me 🔥🖤
Yes different animation studios resulting in sometimes wildly different quality. Sadly nothing for the Legioss approaches the same standard as this.
The old style of animation is still best. I even prefer the look compared to Blu-Ray updates.
My one annoyance is as seen with the newer toys is ramped up level of detail, making them look so busy compared stripped back simple original art style

Really the transformation screams you have to do it to get the right level of force for the upper chest to connect.

Even ignoring the move toward so much CGI, just the design style nowadays is so dramatically different. Sometimes simple is better.
