Fast forward to 2020 and these Jags still turn heads. I can bet no other car on that list would garner praise of it were still on the road like the Jag. 👌🏽
I have owned 2 XJ Vanden Plas's. I tried a MB S-550 and although its a great car, there is nothing like a fully loaded Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. I dont think the Jag look old. The drivers are usually old, but the car has style and class not found in Mercedes. I also find the resale value about the same as the S-550. Both lost a lot, after 2 years, but S-550's are a dime a dozen. I acutally lost more on MB then Jag. I highly recommend a Jag XJ and and find some of these comments to be foolish.
The last generation Jaguar XJ looked more elegant than its contemporaries. In my opinion, it was not old-fashioned. It was a modern interpretation of a British gentleman.
Well, it’s now 2022 and I currently have three jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. I have yet to find another car I like as much or one with his much style and class. I have a Rolls-Royce dawn in my garage as well, and although I respect and like the vehicle, I think the jaguar XJ’s were some of the best luxury cars ever made.
Standard features include air conditioning w/dual-zone climate controls, interior air filter, power tilt/telescopic wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, cruise control, leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, 16-way power front seats, memory system, power sunroof, wireless cell phone link, compass, outside-temperature indicator, and universal garage door opener. Options include a navigation system, premium sound system, heated steering wheel, and cooled seats.
Love the look of this old XJ. It looks small, elegant and classy compared to all it's competitors. Wonder what the new one is going to look like on the road.
The XJ8 is one of my favorite cars. Great interiors, great riding cars... They also have the worst resale value ever, so you can buy one used for $16k-22k tops if it's a couple years old... not too shabby!
I spend about 3K a year on maintenance for my car but that’s only because I have OCD and will fix the littlest squeak or slightest bit of fluid I see leaking
Of all the luxury sedans made that decade, the Jaguar is the one I like. I just added a silver '04 XJ8 to my collection. I love it. The '04-'09 XJ8 I find to be the best XJ sedan built. I chose the normally aspirated version because the superchargers can go out and be very expensive to fix. So, they're really not expected to have resale value later on as the Mercedes Benzes? Well I suppose that may be true on paper. But Jaguar was still making a point of keeping things more simple than Mercedes, BMW, and them. And they still had styling and charm that the German car makes couldn't touch. So I don't see them becoming as desirable in later years as the Jaguars. And the S-Class Benzes by this time had become horrible at becoming endless money pits earlier on and forcing more owners to get rid of them earlier, the worst with that.
What I meant in one of my sentences above is that all the others built in those years could be even more costly to fix, making them possibly less desirable than the Jaguars, which still can cost plenty.
@@TheManeChange Yeah. I figure it may become a future classic. Although, the XJR will probably be more sought after. I do not daily drive mine. I conserve the mileage on mine, so that it can remain in good condition and not cost too much.
why do you call it ford? only X-type model has common parts with ford. for me it's best looking luxury car on the market. I dont understand also why do you call people idiots if they paid 65K for this car. when you buy it you pay for good workmanship, there is a leather even on the distribution board while mercedes E, bmw 5 or audi A6 are not such well made as Jag.
Since when, in the large car segment, is Jaguar outclassed in handling by any competitor? I mean sure, Maserati Quattroporte and Porsche Panamera are close to the handling, and in various ways exceed or fall short of the Jag, but that’s about it…not sure why they were smoking when they came up with that line.
No girls allowed here.... !!! Go make some comments on makeup TUTORIAL videos !!! Fully equipped TL SH-AWD 6 speed with all the packages taxes and staff is around 60K $. And the TL is much better car than this Ford called Jaguar XJ.
It's incredible how terrible this car looks. It looks incredibly awful!!! The NEW JK is probably the best looking sedan in that market! It's different from the "typical" 7-series, s-class, a8, ls etc... I'm not saying any of those are bad, just that you see them more often and the new Jaguar design language is new, different and finally 21st century worthy!

This is the only car that i would like to have in black and i must have to own the XJ x350 once in my driving career.

the new XJ is nice... but Id take this over it any day...

i agree it looks classy. but i think the newest one looks better. either way, jaguar makes the best lookers in the world. :)

Imagine how cheap you can pick them up now
Oh this is an elegant car
They were all aluminum after 2003. The real steel solid heavy full wood interior jags were made before 2004.
Its direct competitor is the Lexus LS (similar features, similar price).
I spend about 3K a year on maintenance for my car but that’s only because I have OCD and will fix the littlest squeak or slightest bit of fluid I see leaking
My favorite gen
At the time, Jaguar had hands down the best looking luxury cars out of ALL of their competitors at the price range they sold their vehicles at.
Better than a Continental?
this is my dream car!!! :)

Would you call this car a good car? Something to have for a while in good condition?

Jag-u-aR. Hardly 1970's styling, just conservative Jaguar look. How long has BWW been sporting that boring little double grill?
Extremely dated 1970s styling

Pretty awesome Jaguar XJ
Last of the best imo
Doesn't look dated, looks like a Jaguar instead of a glorified lexus with a jaguar badge.
"In the Vandehn Plass trim.."
IT'S FRENCH, Vandun Plahh.
Geez.
This car is a 2008 or 2009, not 2006.
It’s probably a fully loaded one from the generation those models are in
So true!
What's a DVD?
R jaguar's reliable, durable and long lasting????
Jaguar not Jagwar
Mmmmmmm....I love the KBB girls.

the last of the great Jags. I hat the XF, its pretty, but its not a Jag.
someday, just someday!!!
The super V8, is a Daimler. The XJ R, is a jaguar
you sold a bentley for a jaguar???
I prefer the 1998 - 2003 better. It has nicer lines.
