The Lone Ranger was never epic. It had human dimensions, like homesteaders trying to be moved off their land by a cattle rancher who was not evil but greedy. The Lone Ranger and Tonto would try to be a balance whose main motivation was justice. It was a pulp story told simply to evoke a sense of fairness. It was always a good, simple story.
Great video. The "Sinbad" Era of animated films was tragic to watch. El Dorado, Treasure Planet, Prince of Egypt. All box office disappointments, but great films. Strange time.
Im genuinely surprised by how low your sub count is, this video was great! Keep it up man, all of this movie related content you make is so interesting, you’ve gained a new sub!
I thought it was ok. Although about halfway through I started wondering whether it was financed exclusively by the tobacco industry and was just a lengthy advert to bring back smoking as a cool thing to do.
Strange World seems like a legit good idea for a film. I can only assume, as stated, that the script was abysmal. I’ve sat through a lot of sucky children’s films with my children so it’s kind of weird that I’ve never even heard of this one.
Wow. Tim Riggins and Landry Clarke are both in Battleship?? Who directed it, the creator of the TV version of Friday Night Lights?? Nevermind. Don't answer that. Also, I can't be the only person who thinks that the main character in Strange World looks like post-Office John Krasinski, or am I??
Earlier than cutthroat island was “swashbuckler” from 1976. This awful cliche filled movie cost a fortune at the time and brought back in basically nothing. Any lessons learned? From Hollywood? Of course not. Speaking of how something can work in one medium and die in another is “cats”. Cats on stage is a very entertaining. It played in London and broadway for 15 years and touring companies continue to perform it to this day. Two movies have been made of it. Both total disasters. One, in 1998, was filmed on the actual stage set in London, yet still totally failed at every level. The recent cgi version is an insane unpleasant 90 million dollar nightmare.
You should’ve put Speed Racer in this video because that too was a massive box office bomb due to critics at that time were not very kind to the Speed Racer movie and also it was overshadowed by other summer blockbusters of 2008 like Iron Man, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Sex and the City, Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, Get Smart, Wall E, Wanted, Hancock, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Dark Knight, Mamma Mia, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and Tropic Thunder
One of the reasons why Strange World failed is because it was overshadowed by both Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water. As for The Marvels, that failed because a lot of people were confused and starting to lose interest in the superhero movies although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse, and even Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom were box office hits. Deadpool and Wolverine is definitely a big hit of this year.
I couldn’t sit through the entirety of Cutthroat Island. It was my ex-gf’s favourite film (that isn’t the reason I hated it) for some reason. It was just deeply irritating. And I love pirates. Who doesn’t love pirates? I don’t know how they managed to fuck it up with that amount of money and the cool practical effects but every character was annoying. Particularly Gena Davis. It was probably an early example of a Mary-Sue film and that’s an insufferable trope. I’ve tried to watch it about 3 times in probably the space of 20 years but the older I get, the shitter it remains. I rarely won’t watch a film all the way through (I sat through Artemis Fowl. Thank you, daughter, for making me watch that with you) but I just can’t do it with CI. It’s just too crappy.
I remember I couldn't find a single advertisement of Strange World while it was around, feels like Disney didn't even try to marketing it.
I’ve never even heard of it. Which kind of reinforces your point
The Lone Ranger is a pulp character that started as a radio show. He’s pretty cool. And this movie could’ve been a great pulpy adventure.

it was a great adventure, it was fun. fork the box office. its not a good metric.
Great video. The "Sinbad" Era of animated films was tragic to watch. El Dorado, Treasure Planet, Prince of Egypt. All box office disappointments, but great films. Strange time.
The Prince of Egypt is actually a box office success, earning $218 million worldwide against the budget of $60 million
I'm so disappointed at myself for laughing at the minions joke
It gave me a chuckle out of me NGL

thats pretty high tbh
He just needs a better microphone or better software/compressor and he is golden.

I was very disappointed with John Carter since it actually has a lot of potential. He’s basically Conan the Barbarian in Space.
Alfred Hitchcock said a lot of it - "To make a great film, you need three things - the script, the script, and the script."

very interesting video from someone ive never seen before, cool
I unironically love every film in the thumbnail.
Wow, Taylor Kitsch.. totally forgot about that guy until I watched this video! He disappeared completely.

The Lone Ranger was amazing.
It's opening and closing action sequences are indeed brilliant. The rest is at best decent.
The Lone Ranger is one of those adventure movies that tried to be the next Pirates of the Caribbean but failed
People like lone ranger now? I remember when it came out and everyone hated it 😂
Good video earned a sub
Liking the video so far; invest in a new mic or mix it better thought. Audio super grainy
The 13th Warrior was a great movie.

The Marvels and Strange World weren't bad movies.
Indeed. They were terrible.
